If it hadn't touched that guy's head, Smeltz wouldn't have been offside. The penalty was dubious, at best, but I would say the NZer who held the guy's shirt (don't know his name either) was a little naive. It happens all the time, but if you hold onto someone in the area, you're setting yourself up for a dubious decision.
