Speedhighway: Don't forget Intel being better for multitasking and running programs that need the processor a lot. You can never say AMD is EXACTLY the same as Intel because it never will be! And if it makes NO difference with the better cache, then why does an AMD Phenom64 X3 with only a SLIGHTLY lower cache than an Intel Core 2 Duo run WAY slower? Add on AMD using older tech.... JUST NOW in 2009 using what Intel was using last year and maybe before...

It never will be? It already has been. AMD had dual core out when Intel had pentium 4. First of all, I was talking about Phenom II X4, secondly, it runs way slower? the hell are you talking about, they are only noticebly different if your running a virus scan or compressing an mp3 or something. And what the fuck? you got it backwards, AMD came out with the Phenom X4 exactly a year before Intel came out with the I7. If you don't believe me, wikipedia

if he was overclocking on an old AMD then that's why, if he wasn't overclocking, then he had improper heatsink/fan or the fan failed. I know the new AMD's shut down because I overclocked my 3Ghz Athlon a month ago to 3.1, it overheated and shut down.

CPU's will never burn up unless you have wrong heatsink fan/ it's not on properly, you overclocked it, or thermal compound is on improperly. If it burned her, then obviously one of those happend.

My sister had a Intel core 2 duo 2Ghz, thermal gel wasn't on right and it burned right up, didn't burn her because she had it on a table but who knows if it would've or not.

ok dude you probably can't tell... if you check the bottom of the heatsink and the top of the processor and see no gray substance or a lot of the gray substance then that's why, but it's hard to tell, especially when you've taken it off already. And what is your explanation for it burning up then? and please, don't say something like "because it's an AMD piece of shit" because we both can agree that both companies make good processors... they don't just burn up
