I don't know if any one of my children is gay but I am going to let the children know that their parents love them very much & will accept them for who they are regardless of their sexual orientation.

I was left speechless the first time I saw this video. Then, I watched it again. Your story is, truly, beautiful and inspiring. Your mothers text is one of the things I was the most surprised about. I, actually, cried both of the times whilst you were reading the text message your mother had sent you. To be aware of someone with so much compassion gives hope by itself. Thank you for sharing this video. It proves a lot in terms of how good, caring, compassionate people can be.
My mom mothered 5 kids one of which of course is me. Well one brother and my self are gay, my mother knows we are, she is a very strong Mormon. She does not approve of our "being gay" however does not have any less love for us. She always attends church and always reminds us there is a place there with her there gay or not. My brother still goes to church, they all know he is gay and amazingly enough, still he fully accepted at church.

People who blithely make statements like "gay people choose to be gay," should listen to this and think good and hard about why they believe that. I'm glad you didn't kill yourself, the world needs people like you.
@sazji I agree to a certain point I suppose. I'm not for or against homosexuality but that quote "Gay people choose to be gay" is kind of true. Most people are in control of their feelings, decisions, choices, etc. Why do I bring this up is because I am one of those who believes we choose what path we want. If being gay makes you happy and that's what you want, go for it. I used to love to be hateful and angry towards people but I chose to change. Make sense? I'm not trying to be hostile.
@Gwarner20002 All you have to do is look at all the gay people who, because of their fears of rejection and what society will think, fritter away years and years of their lives trying (unsuccessfully) to go straight. Many young people commit suicide over it every year. Sexual orientation is not the same as "being hateful or loving." You have a choice of whether to live your attraction or to hide it; but you can't make yourself be attracted to someone you simply have no desire for.
@Gwarner20002 The "ex-gay" therapies are another good example of people spending years and years (not to mention huge amounts of money) trying to make the gay go away. Most are unsuccessful; even many leaders of such groups end up admitting they were fooling themselves. The fact that some of them get married and have kids tells me nothing; closeted gays have been doing that for centuries. And look at all of the anti-gay politicians who get dragged out of the closet...it's pathetic.
It is refreshing to see a guy who is so insightful and perceptive, who actually uses the skill for good. So many people who are blessed with the ability to pre-empt others' emotions/thoughts use it as a weapon for their own gain. Anyway... Your story is amazing, and you clearly inherited that gift from your awesome Mother.

You need to put your mother in touch with AGAYMORMON. That is one messed up lil Mormon cracker, he's getting progressively more unhinged and unhappy and his headcase parents don't seem to want to help him or know how to.
@kimmois1 Unfortunately, this seems to happen a lot. Mormon parents are not equipped to handle a situation like this. Sometimes it is much easier for them to ignore or refuse to deal with it. Others simply make a decision between their church and their child. Others try their best to reconcile both aspects of their life.
I was really afraid of telling people I'm gay, and actually I never told 'em, wasn't that brave to face my own fears, but now they know and things are great.
