  • Hi Ed Hodges, this song was funnily on my mind this morning, and so I search and found and wanted to wish you the best and thank you for growing up with me. I'm your age, by the way! Still rockin'. All the best....yeah this song of your version is THE BEST !!! Still is, bro.

  • What used to be thought of perseverance is now known as stalking.

  • @Iamremulak LOL!

  • I was driving home from shopping this morning and this song came on my radio. It made me smile and go down memory lane to when I was a child dancing away in my room to this music for hours and hours on end, day in, day out. Gosh, what wonderful happy memories this song evoked! I came home and looked it up on Youtube and am so pleased to see it on here! Thank you, I shall be bookmarking this to enjoy for a long time!

  • Everytime I hear this song I feel like I'm selling a vacuum door to doot. O_O

  • Heeey do you have the karaoke version of this song?? its sooo good :)

  • P.S. This is too cute for words! Put into a search engine: “What’s My Line, Eddie Hodges” (4 mins). See how times have changed! Note the dress and deportment ("Sir" to John Daly and never speaking unless asked to) of Eddie then and think about child star brats of today (and kids in general!). I would never say a word against this gentleman!

  • Eddie Hodges is one class act! He’s a Southern gentleman through and through. If any would like, pl stop by my (free) website and look at the article I wrote about him. (“Donald Schneider, School Bullying.” Click Miscellaneous, fifth article down.). He was kind enough to contact me and email for awhile. You can also see him on *The Dick Van Dyke Show* on the net: episode “The Lady and the Babysitter.” He was 17 then, 13 or 14 here.

  • I LOVE this song! My sister and I used to play this over and over again when we were little kids. I still love it....the flip side is great too...Ain't Gonna Wash for a Week.

  • we have learned this song on school

  • haven't heard this in 40yrs, thx.

  • I knew this song since childhood and i'd always thought it was a girl who sang it. One of the good oldies though.

    Sorry Eddie!

    GOOD SONG! <3

  • looks like Rick Astleys kid brother

  • This is a great , great song no one does it better than Eddie. I've hear other versions but THIS IS THE BEST ONE!!!

  • oldies but goodies

  • I have enjoyed all of the comments. This song was covered by The Isley Bros., The Pete Best (former Beatle) Four and Jimmy Osmond, to name a few. One of the writers recently died: Aaaron Schroeder. Thanks for your interest - God Bless.

    Eddie Hodges

  • It wasn't "covered" by the Isley's, the Isley's did it first, about 2 or even three years before Eddie. Wouldn't be surprised if they wrote it.

    Eddie's version is the cover.

  • A "cover" is when someone records the song you wrote. Even my version was a "cover." The Isley's did not write the song.

  • hoggjazz- In popular music, a cover version, or simply cover, is a new rendition (performance or recording) of a previously recorded, commercially released song or popular song.

  • Thanks, but in the music business we have for many years used the term "cover" to refer to the recording of a writer's song. The term "cover version(cover record)" is just what you said it is. However, FYI, all the renditions are "covers" of Aaron and Sid's song. In my post, I said "the song" was covered, not "my recording' of the song. I'm more aware than anyone here that my "rendition" was not the original one. Sorry if confused anyone else with my professional terminology. My apologies.

  • Is that the same Eddie who had a thing for Laura Petrie on Dick Van Dyke Show?

  • + country singer billy crash craddock in 1972

  • THIS IS REALLY GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD

  • Al along I thought a female sang this...

    Thanks for uploading.

  • heh...heh.... i always thought this song was sang by a woman... xD

    but good song

  • Wow! He's a white dude. I always pictured him looking something like Little Anthony.

  • It was originally recorded by black dudes-namely- The Isley Brothers! Their version is on one of the Before They Were hits Volumes

  • The Isley Brothers were white, LOL.

  • Eddie Hoghes is my grandchild.

  • prove it

  • Eddie Hodges is my grandfather and he is teaching me guitar. I personally never really liked his music that much, but he knew the beach boys and stuff so its really cool.

  • You're lucky the Eddie Hodges is your Grandfather, you should learn from his experiences and make a great artist :)

  • Your Grandpa won the first emmy ever from anybody from Mississippi. That includes even Elvis and many many more great singers. He was a child star that took the high road and serves humanity instead of taking from it. I hope you are proud of him you should be.. He was a mega talent as a child star . A Jimmy Durante show with your grandpa as a guest star was just put on you tube. Watch it , you will like it

  • Love this!!! The "b" side is great also...

    Five stars...many thanks for posting!!!

  • Thanks for dropping by!!!

  • Whatever it takes I guess..

  • Song still enjoys popularity here nowadays in the place where I am. I had no idea it was the kid who played Hayley Mills' sister in that 1963 film "Summer Magic" singing. Now I know just how popular he is. Terrific! ;)
