where about this is in taiwan??? I live in Taichung and struggling to find a modern wushu or a good wushu teacher in taiwan. Any help would appreciate it.
My Sifu (Grandmaster Ho Tsong Yuan) is one of Sigong Su top student and now I'm teaching these systems in Philadelphia PA and my classmates are teaching in Lansdown PA. Sifu Ho, has been in the states for over 20 years and last year moved back to Taiwan. So now we are his representative here in the U.S.A.
Have I met you before, Keith? Perhaps at the school in Harleysville? I went there occassionally to work out and see your teacher. I first met him through our teacher (Shu, Ke Gang) in Taiwan. I remember a guy that used to come up to Harleysville from Philly. Perhaps that's you.
Yo Travis, Yes you met me. I haven't seen you in years. You used to come up on Sundays; I wondered where you've been. I was hoping that this was you.:)
I wish I knew more about this form. The teacher finally retired a couple years ago at age 93. Still walked straight as an arrow. I am not sure if the young man performing this form began teaching. But, I heard the old master say very clearly that he should teach. (hint hint).
There is someone in the states that is teaching this style. Not sure where, though.
He did not retire at 93. Walked and sat straight as an arrow. The young man (Wu, Zhen Da) did start to teach. Master Shu, Ke Gang's kung fu is taught in PA and elsewhere. My son loves it! Please do not think the forms you see Wu, Zhen Da perform are performed the way they should be. He is not an expert on the forms. I can say that; he's my "brother." The teacher's forms are much better than Wu, Zhen Da can show them to be.
Thanks for replying. I am glad someone who knows the style can comment. I saw Master Su Ke Gang last year, when I went to Taiwan. He had a fall and was in the hospital for a couple days, but was fine. His daughter in law told me he was retired from teaching now. I never trained with him, but master Su used to invite me to sit and talk when I was walking in the park sometimes.

I know the teacher called his stuff "Northern Shaolin" 北少林

Sometimes he did. But he normally just called it bei chuan 北拳. His art came from ShanDong, specifically QingDao.

I know the teacher is from Shan Dong province. Not sure of the name of this spear form though.

I have seen this style in many kung fu movies. Try jackie chans drunken master, his fight with the king of sticks.

Whatever it is, it looks well-performed and clever.
