Edge, how can I say this....? YOU LIE , ha..! Look at the CBO report on Obama's stimulus package . They said he saved millions of jobs .With out it, it would have been worse . We just had a health care reform summit . It's a work in progress and will pass . Bush also wanted to close Guantanamo . Bush also tried terrorist in civilian courts . As a matter of fact, the 3 tried through a military tribunal, two were released . Civilian trials have convicted 300 with a 100% success rate .
I'm guessing that you're some arrogant socialist (and pothead) from New Zealand. Fuck off. This doesn't concern you, and I don't want to pay for lazy bums' healthcare.
@Edgehead10075 You are an ignorant piece of fucking shit and why america is looked down upon by the rest of the world. You obviously just favor the rich and think it's everybody else's own fault that we're not drinking single malt orphan tears with you and dick cheney.
Another 9/11 was just averted, but no thanks to Obozo's Homeland Security Dept. God bless the brave passengers of that airliner who stopped that madman. Obozo is a failure.
@Edgehead10075 why are you conservative morons going on how obama failed this this and that. I havent heard anyone on the news or whatever talk about how he was led through the amsterdam security with the explosives and wasn't caught by them. Why are you not mad at them
You're an idiot. I just mentioned the Delta flight. Secondly, his stimulus package failed to do anything but run up the deficit. He FAILED on healthcare reform, which Americans oppose. He also made stupid decisions in closing Guantanamo and trying terrorists in civilian courts. He's a fuckup.
You said "He FAILED on healthcare reform, which Americans oppose." Please give me the statistics that you base this statement on. Virtually every pole I have read says that a clear majority of Americans WANT healthcare reform. And most would support a one tier public pay system.
Sorry, dude, but Rasmussen is way more accurate than Gallup, and Gallup is a partisan source. Rasmussen polls LIKELY VOTERS, and it got the last two presidential elections correct within a percentage point. Rasmussen is correct. Now show me a poll which shows the opposite. Americans oppose Obozocare.
Ok... I have calmed down... Hmmm... The fact that you have listed Rasmussen as impartial and Gallup as no really does worry me... You do realise that Rasmussen is the statistical gatherer of choice for FOX news and have been questioned very heavily over some of their published results... i.e... they "diddle" the numbers... I don't think I have ever heard of such a thing happening with Gallup... Anyway... enjoy your blissful denial.
Rasmussen polls likely voters, which makes it more reliable. Also, can you explain how Rasmussen got the last two presidential elections right within one percentage point.
I will let the Washington Independent speak for me
Quote from article titled "Rasmussen, the only poll that matters" dated 18/02/09
"The question, the result, and the carnival barker spin-all are trademarks of Rasmussen Reports, a pollster that has become ubiquitous in the conversation of Republicans and conservative pundits. It is not a partisan polling firm, and it is not hired to ask partisan questions the way that, for example, John Zogby was hired..."
omgggg i just came back a year later and read my comment...totally rude and over-the-line. even tho i'm sure i still very much disagree with/dislike whatever it was u said, i'm sorry for being so vitriolic! youtube commentary tends to get nasty enough as it is, i didn't need to say THAT :(
1. Even though a healthcare bill will be passed, the Dems aren't getting everything that they wanted. NO PUBLIC OPTION, and there seemingly won't be abortion funding. Also, mandatory health coverage will be ruled unconstitutional.
3. Because of Obamacare, the GOP will make great gains in both the House and Senate elections in November. There won't even be close to a filibuster-proof majority then, and Harry Reid and Chris Dodd will be GONE. Bwahahahahahahahahahahahahaha! I thought that the Dems gave a shit about what most Americans think, but evidently they don't, and they will pay for it. Again, the Dems FAIL on all fronts, and the far left loons are disillusioned because there won't be a public option. Lol.
@Edgehead10075 NOT YOU NAZI AGAIN, TALK TO PEOPLE WHO WANT HEALTH CARE AND CANT AFFORD IT BECAUSE OF YOUR FASCIST GREEDY CORPORATE SYSTEM IS ALL ABOUT MAKING MONEY NOT SAVING LIVES
Wrong. Every poll shows that most Americans oppose it. Not just most Republicans. BTW, your HERO Ron Paul totally opposes it because it's SOCIALISM. The Dems just committed hari kari.
@Edgehead10075 You people dont understand the concept of universal health care every other industrialized nation gets it but not America. America will never have Universal Health Care as long as your Fascist Politicians take bribes from the health care lobby it will never happen. Where is that great spirt of American generosity you hear about, helping your fellow citizens who need health care but can;t afford it, you people are ignorant and selfish individuals.
I think that you're confusing fascism with capitalism. What about lazy bums who refuse to get a job? Should we have to pay for their healthcare too? What about illegal aliens? BTW, America's cancer survival rate is much higher than it is in nations with universal healthcare. We must be doing something right.
@Edgehead10075 Your country is Fascist, Your politicians take bribes from health care lobbying groups, Fascism means when corporations run the government your country is sooo fascisit. At the Republican and Democrat conventions you got lobbying groups from all over there thats Fascism. Your saying that if a child needs health care and is in severe pain because there parents dont have a job you dont want to help them with there health care, WOW you are a caring individual arent you
People have the right to lobby; that's free speech, not fascism. As far as children go, nobody is for denying them healthcare; and we have many government programs that provide healthcare for them.
@Edgehead10075 Yes it is Fasicism because the lobbying groups pay off both sides of your government. YOU JUST SAID THAT WHY SHOULD I PAY FOR SOMEONES HEALTH CARE IF THEY DONT HAVE A JOB, What happens if the child doesnt have insurance your saying that, that person should die beucae EDGENAZI doesnt want his tax dollars to help you. Man you people are selfish ignorant and dumb every nation gets this concept but you people just will not get it now or ever. PULL YOUR HEADS OUT OF YOUR ASS
@Edgehead10075 I have been through the system here when I was 13, I have surgery have the scars to prove it and if i didnt have Universal Health Care It would have cost me well over 100,000 dollars in America In Canada when i left the hospital I didnt have to pay a DIME in bills. My fellow citizens through there tax dollars helped me pay for my life saving operation I thank them for it, and if any of them were in need I WOULDNT MIND ONE BIT MY TAX DOLLARS GOING TOWARS THERE TREATMENT
You're also wrong about Bush and the Republicans doing nothing about healthcare. Bush EXPANDED Medicare to cover prescription drugs. That was a MAJOR deal.
BTW, nobody is against helping out unfortunate people who can't pay for their healthcare. We're just against helping bums, and we're against rationed care. What part of that don't you get? I'm for more people having healthcare, but it should be through private insurance.
@Edgehead10075 America has rationed care bud you think you people dont, you people do. Private insurance is killing 40,000 people in your country every year because they can;t get health care, what is wrong with you people. Why didnt bush propose a universal system please explain?, AMERICA IS HOME OF THE GREED MY FRIEND. If your system is soooo great why havent every industrialized nation switched because they know its a greedy fascist system about money not saving lives
@Edgehead10075 because ron paul is a republican. All the republicans are against it, they dont give two shits about the american people if they really cared health care wouldnt be an issue in america, if sooo many people dont want it why is there such a debate for change
I thought that you worshipped Ron Paul though. There's a debate because, unlike what you've argued, it's the Democrats who don't give two shits what the people want. The American people are totally against this. They don't want more government control. They don't want the government denying old people quality healthcare in order to pay for this bill.
@Edgehead10075 The public Option helps people out who need health care and can;t afford it. DEMOCRATS actually are supporting helping people. THE REPUBLICUNTS are agianst it which means they dont want to help People in need of health care. LET ME ASK YOU SOMETHING IN THE 8 YEARS BUSH WAS IN POWER WHERE IS HIS HEALTH CARE REFORM? OH right there wasnt any. Every Industrialized nation has universal health care because everyone cares for one another. America is selfish thats why you dont have it
The public option would have caused many people to lose their private insurance. That outweighs what good it could have done. If the Dems are for helping people, why do they support cutting Medicare to pay for this bill? No wonder the elderly totally oppose Obamacare. The elderly don't want rationed care.
There was no healthcare reform under Bush because it wasn't that important. BTW, the Dems controlled congress the last two years of Bush's administration and did nothing about it.
@Edgehead10075 BUSH DIDNT GIVE A FUCK ABOUT YOU PEOPLE look at what happened in New orleans just shows you how much he cared for you. The Dems want universal health care for every citizen in the states what is wrong with providing health care to the american people. Private Insurance is the reason why there is talk of change, your country spends twice as much on health care then any other country on the planet yet 50 million are not covered can you explain that.
Obamacare wouldn't change the fact that we spend too much, and Republicans actually supported reform, just not everything that the Dems wanted. Why should a lazy bum who doesn't work get free healthcare? There's nothing wrong with private healthcare plans competing with one another.
New Orleans is an example of Bush's incompetence, not his lack of caring. He was actually quite heartbroken by what happened in New Orleans and the government's failure.
@Edgehead10075 LOL BUSH DIDNT GIVE A SHIT MY FRIEND HE WAS HEARTBROKEN LOL OK BUD you know whats true is that if everyone in New Orleans was rich that city would have been saved and it wouldnt be in the mess it is right now. But its ok to spend 2 trillion on wars right , I SEEE makes sense. You know that If you people pulled in all your troops from all over the world that you could afford health care for everyone of your citizens.
Yes. Personal experience. We treat VA and privately insured patients. Without fail, there is about 4X the paperwork, takes up 4x the time of hospital and office ancillary staff, and hospital stays are typically double of the privately insured. The bureaucratic mess dealt with takes away from patient care and makes patient care more expensive for the taxpayer.
That's why Health IT is very important. Putting medical information on a computer back up-database would solve a lot of the problems without all that paperwork.
@DRSmetal That won't make the VA, or the government, any more efficient than a more competitive based private sector.
Keep medicare and make it more solvent, have a govt plan for the working poor and poor in general( have them taxed to pay for part of it), tax personal injury bullshit, eliminate wasteful govt spending ie dept of education($43 billion/yr) (education is a state, local, and private matter).
I think its such a hypocrisy that the politcians who are against the public option have there own health plans funded by the public in other words they have universal health care for themselves but the american people they "WORK FOR" they wont allow it, thats real sad, and also these politicans get so many handouts from big pharma and the insurance industry no wonder the public option wont pass
Every poll in this country, including Gallop shows americans overwhelmingly support health care reform as well as a public option. Health care should be a right, not a privilege! I pay blue cross 2800 a month, but if I miss or am late so much as one payment, my wife would have to be hospitalized by the state! (hit and run victim)! Praising private insurance agencies, is like praising
Uh, wrong. First of all, you're lying about every poll showing that Americans support healthcare reform. Rasmussen, which only polls likely voters, says that Americans overwhelmingly don't support healthcare reform or the public option. Healthcare is not a right, nor should it be. If you're a lazy freeloader, I shouldn't have to pay for your healthcare. I'm going to ignore you now because of your lies.
you'll be singing a different tune when you/someone close to you gets cancer and has to be pay tens of thousands of dollars in treatment out of pocket.
Michael Moore has said the rich need to be taxed to finance free and universal health care for the poor, regardless of either's race, creed, color, gender, sexual orientation and political affiliation.
Michael is rich. He owes us. Where is our money, Michael, we need it now?
It's stupid to eliminate competition. It leads to inefficiency.
I treat VA patients, and those thru private insurance. Those thru the VA are extremely inefficient.
Increasing competition thru more choices is the answer, regulating insurers(don't penalize people for getting sick) with that is a good idea.
A government plan for the working poor is okay. If you don't have tort reform, we're all screwed( my malprctice ins is $60k/yr) with 0 successful claims/20 years.
The US is awash in debt because homebuyers bid up housing to, refinanced for fun money; then defaulted. So the banks lost massive money. It got so serious they had to be bailed out by taxpayers. Now that's bazaar socialism! Realize some homeowners got a BIG ride on taxpayers. So politicians blamed banks for the foreclosures and not the buyers? And now the same is done for health care insurers. So now socialize health care at $1/3 trillion per year in GDP to bring it into the ghetto. US Progress?
It wasn't just the homeowners' fault---the economy crash was also due to the real estate market being unregulated, thereby letting mortgage companies/eal estate/agents sign up homeowners they KNEW were bad risks, but they didn't care because they were making money. You can't blame that all on the taxpayers, especially since the banks know this was going on, but didn't care because they were getting paid too. Plus they have all kinds of sneaky ways of helping to quicken the foreclosure process.
No bank would write a mortgage knowing a buyer would default. In good times the bank pays >15% of the loan & waits 3 months to 2 years. Time & money are lost. Yes, greedy human buyers caused the problem. At the peak people desperate to buy would fudge any promissory note. High rate, no problem. Just refi later - until oh oh! Politicians even blamed people in the beginning, until the foreclosure numbers blew up. Then people = voters: so better blame the banks & today blame medical ins firms.
yes, even rpublicans politicians know is a good bill, they just trying to to block it so Dems fail.
And yes this bill is still bullshit compare to european's universal health care but i guess is the closest we can afford with all the political shit we have to deal with.
Do you support our fellow men and women overseas risking their lives to protect ours?
Do you value your freedom and way of life, and support a Government that will protect you and your fellow Americans from terrorists?
WELL HOW MANY PEOPLE DIED LAST YEAR FROM TERRORIST ATTACKS IN AMERICA? THAT'S RIGHT, ZERO.
WHY DO ASK YOUR GOVERNMENT TO PROTECT YOUR LIVES FROM TERRORISTS, BUT DON'T ASK THE SAME FOR THE 122 PEOPLE WHO DIED YESTERDAY BECAUSE THEY HAD NO HEALTHCARE???

Maher and Olbermann are both jackasses; if it's bad for America, then they're for it. It pleases me that the democrats killed the public option. You know these two idiots are fuming.
Edgehead10075 is a faggot. I bet his prophets at Faux Newz and his overlords in the repuglican party could tell him the moon was made of cheese and he would believe it, thats how gullible and dumb republitards truly are. Hopeless fucks that love being spoon fed reich-wing propaganda and rhetoric. I say boot the rest of the repuglicans out in 2010 and 2012! finish them liars off for good!
and btw, the fact that the conservatives have taken up Palin as their standard bearer really shows you how misguided they really are. ANyone who considers her even REMOTELY qualified for the presidency (or any other job in congress) would be mental.
Why do people keep asking for less government and less spending under obama, when the damn deficit was made by Bush BECAUSE of his crazy spending??? I will never understand
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Conservatives have not taken up Palin as their standard bearer, you moron. Quit listening to the lamestream media. She will not be the GOP nominee in 2012. Bush's crazy spending was wrong, but Obama's is okay? Lol.
so because Bush fucked up the deficit, Obama gets the ok to balloon it 4 times over???? Yes bush spent alot and boosted the debt. So why is Obama doing the same thing? How much sense does it make to spend ourselves to where our debt eates up 82% of GDP in 10 years??????!!!!!!!!!
Your option is total economic collapse.Besides the bailout money total is the actual RED COLUMN in the country's balance sheet.Which ballooned in the bush admin.
LIke talking to the furniture. Some people need a personal disaster to happen to them like a Katrina incident or a bankruptcy due to a sucker-punched medical bill that can't be paid before they wake up and finally see the fantasy they used to call compassionate conservatism and, jokingly, trickle-down theories towards fiscal health. As for your polls Edgehead, you're getting fed buckets of slop by FOX News, you poor sap. George Carlin had it right: the powerful always screw the middle class.
The Republicans and blue dog Dems are sanctimonious bigots in that they rely on religion to keep them supposedly on the right path. Yet underneath the manicured veneer are selfish Calvinist-inspired ideologues that have created an entrenched oligarchy that supports a duopoly and suppresses human rights and free speech; they are always gaming the system at the expense of the majority of Americans. Enough already! Obama was elected to make a difference a country that desperately needs reform.
Fidel Castro, the COMMUNIST EX-DICTATOR OF CUBA, supports Obama. That's enough reason right there to vote Obama out in 2012.
In other news, Obama's retarded Attorney General wants to prosecute the interrogators WHO MADE US SAFER. Let's face it; liberals hate America. They punish the good guys yet give the bad guys (terrorists) rights. Fuck the Democraps.
Maher is perfectly correct. USA has become a corporate state, Congress in the pockets of lobbying groups. We are a disaster. Worse, our democracy is imperiled.
Nope, he's totally wrong, and the fact of the matter is that most Americans OPPOSE Obama. Americans don't want socialism, and the GOP is going to take back the House in 2010.
Except Obama isnt socialist yea? do you even know what socialism is? just saying the word doesnt mean you win the argument, in fact it shows how stupid you clearly are. In fact, if you compare Obama to politicians in other countries like Europe, he would never be considered socialist, he would actually be considered quite conservative.
Please try to use reasoning and logic, instead of stupidity
Nope I support the public option. Which works actually quite. But what you or your little redneck brain don't get is that Obama is trying bring a hybrid system. What that is a system that has both private and public option and both can co-exist. One Example I am going to Compare Japan to the US.
I never said that Obama was proposing 100% socialized medicine, although it's only because he'd have no chance of getting it passed. He has stated in the past that he's for single-payer.
I oppose the public option because it will lead to people losing their private insurance. It will also most likely cover illegal aliens and possibly even abortions.
really he said " if you have private Insurance and like you have than thats fine keep it". Why do you think its called an option. What he is bringing is a hybrid system and I probably Explained this before but in a hybrid you can have the private enterprise and the public option can co-exist and compete. But sadly the HI monopolies don't want you to know this because they want to make money of your life and then just throw you out like they do to everybody heck they did it to me.
Many employers will get rid of their private insurance coverage and switch to the public option though. Also, after a certain date, people won't be able to purchase private insurance.
edge, people are already losing their private insurance!!!!! my dad got laid off and lost it, my mom couldent pay for it anymore!!!! my uncle has healthcare insurance, but it doesent cover my cousins or his wife!!!! WE NEEDED THE PUBLIC OPTION, BUT WE WONT GET IT, SO THAT SHOULD MAKE YOU HAPPY, THE DAY GOD FORBID YOU GET SICK, I HOPE YOUR INSURANCE DOESENT KICK YOU OUT OR TELL YOU THEY DONT COVER IT. the democrats have now lost 2010, and will soon be the minority part again.
its ok kid. soon as he gets something more serious than a stubbed toe he'll discover just how heartless the system is. Guess most people are blind to it till it happens to them personally.
@TheDirteeSanchez Hey bud im from Canada i totatlly support a public option in the states. Canada has universal health Care i've been through the system i honestly can't complain one bit, had surgery twice i have the scars to prove it. hopefully one day people in your country will wake up and understand that its a human right for health care and to see a doctor. The only way your country will get universal health care is to protest and demand it.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
You know this is a great country when two moronic blowhards are allowed to pontificate on subjects neither know anything about. It's great! I love this country!
I just read allot of the comments you have posted. Regardless of your viewpoints, I admire that you have an honest debate with people instead of the name calling that I typically see on youtube.
no it isn't, the post office takes longer, costs more, and loses a greater percentage of its deliveries/mail than companies like UPS do. Private industry far exceeds the post office in every area, and does it without going bankrupt like the post office.
why not a government run healthcare system...because government has repeatedly failed whether it be in foreign policy during the post-cold war era or social security or medicare or medicaid or the post office (aka snail mail)
Iceman , I think your looking at this the wrong way . We have the worst health care system almost in the western world , even though we spend more . Why are these gov. so successful and were not ? The problem isn't gov. my man , it's corruption by shady doctors and insurance company's .
it works in different countries because they have much better regulated food industry and a public that is more compliant to having the government control them, whether it be their smoking or what they eat. Also, these countries have much higher taxes to pay for these programs, which Americans would never go for. Our healthcare system still produces the best medicines and techniques in the world (other countries envy our medical schools like John Hopkins and Emory).
so you're saying that the FBI works when the can't even find their most wanted, the DEA works even though marijuana heroine and cocaine are still huge problems, and NASA works when we haven't even been to the moon since 1972 or still haven't had a maned mission to Mars (and im not sure if you're referring to astronaut john boner or or minority leader john boehner, but I assure you that he isn't the only one to have held these beliefs)
Wow, agencies that have billions of dollars pumped into them like the FBI can boast such huge accomplishments as getting Al Capone on tax evasion, though the federal government was forced to repeal Prohibition because of him and other operations (another example of Government weakness). I never said NASA's job was easy, if these jobs were easy then maybe the government could do it. And, if it had billions of dollars and studied in that field, I would build my own rocket.
actually i watched his show on hbo last friday and did see that, i never said we were socialized, i didn't even reference that universal healthcare was socialization (though it is). Just because the government has only .027% of the private sector nationalized doesn't make universal healthcare a good idea. Also, just because I want smaller government doesn't mean I want no government, firemen police officers and national security are great as well as the interstate system.
I just believe that when it comes to meddling into the intricact system of the economy, where there are almost infinite factors, the government shouldn't get involved as much because it can't account for everything nearly as well as the actual market. These would include social security, medicare, medicaid, universal health care, and wellfare.I also believe food banks (which are private sector) run much better than the food stamp program.
true, but private has shown time and time again to work better than public (another example would be airline safety, private companies caught a greater percentage of bomb materials than security systems led by the FAA)
Maybe so , I'm not sure and have nothing to reference this too .I do know alot of private company's use gov. standards as something to train thier employe's with . They also are required by law to meet gov. standards in safety at a minimum .
it used to be nice when i could watch Keith on MSNBC. Now he is on Current TV, never heard of it, can't see it, that SUCKS!!!!

The democratic version puts the government ahead of the individual patient.
Republicans tend to put the insurance company ahead of the patient.
The only solution is to put the patient's rights first. More choices, more responsibility. Incentivize quality via tax cuts and incentives.
The 2000+ page overregulatory complex bill in question is a disaster in the making.
Thanks, your friendly surgeon.

Edgehead10075 1 year ago
@edgehead...
You said "He FAILED on healthcare reform, which Americans oppose." Please give me the statistics that you base this statement on. Virtually every pole I have read says that a clear majority of Americans WANT healthcare reform. And most would support a one tier public pay system.
gadget133 1 year ago
According to Rasmussen's latest poll, 41% support Obozo's healthcare bill. 56% oppose. That's NOT EVEN CLOSE. What poll are you looking at?
Edgehead10075 1 year ago
You might want to check a non partisan source.
Try Gallop. Different figures dude.
gadget133 1 year ago
Sorry, dude, but Rasmussen is way more accurate than Gallup, and Gallup is a partisan source. Rasmussen polls LIKELY VOTERS, and it got the last two presidential elections correct within a percentage point. Rasmussen is correct. Now show me a poll which shows the opposite. Americans oppose Obozocare.
Edgehead10075 1 year ago
@edgehead..
Anyway... enjoy your blissful denial.
gadget133 1 year ago
Rasmussen polls likely voters, which makes it more reliable. Also, can you explain how Rasmussen got the last two presidential elections right within one percentage point.
Edgehead10075 1 year ago
@edghead10075
Hmmm...

The Democraps are FINISHED, and they FAIL for several reasons.
Edgehead10075 2 years ago
1. Even though a healthcare bill will be passed, the Dems aren't getting everything that they wanted. NO PUBLIC OPTION, and there seemingly won't be abortion funding. Also, mandatory health coverage will be ruled unconstitutional.
Edgehead10075 2 years ago
2. The American people OPPOSE OBAMACARE, and it's not even close. The Dems may not give a shit about that now, but they will come November.
Edgehead10075 2 years ago
In fact, a majority of Americans say that doing nothing is better than Obamacare.
Edgehead10075 2 years ago
Lol.

TheRevolutionCanada 2 years ago
I think that you're confusing fascism with capitalism. What about lazy bums who refuse to get a job? Should we have to pay for their healthcare too? What about illegal aliens? BTW, America's cancer survival rate is much higher than it is in nations with universal healthcare. We must be doing something right.
Edgehead10075 2 years ago
@Edgehead10075 Your country is Fascist, Your politicians take bribes from health care lobbying groups, Fascism means when corporations run the government your country is sooo fascisit. At the Republican and Democrat conventions you got lobbying groups from all over there thats Fascism. Your saying that if a child needs health care and is in severe pain because there parents dont have a job you dont want to help them with there health care, WOW you are a caring individual arent you
TheRevolutionCanada 2 years ago
People have the right to lobby; that's free speech, not fascism. As far as children go, nobody is for denying them healthcare; and we have many government programs that provide healthcare for them.
Edgehead10075 2 years ago

TheRevolutionCanada 2 years ago
You're also wrong about Bush and the Republicans doing nothing about healthcare. Bush EXPANDED Medicare to cover prescription drugs. That was a MAJOR deal.
BTW, nobody is against helping out unfortunate people who can't pay for their healthcare. We're just against helping bums, and we're against rationed care. What part of that don't you get? I'm for more people having healthcare, but it should be through private insurance.
Edgehead10075 2 years ago
@Edgehead10075 America has rationed care bud you think you people dont, you people do. Private insurance is killing 40,000 people in your country every year because they can;t get health care, what is wrong with you people. Why didnt bush propose a universal system please explain?, AMERICA IS HOME OF THE GREED MY FRIEND. If your system is soooo great why havent every industrialized nation switched because they know its a greedy fascist system about money not saving lives
TheRevolutionCanada 2 years ago
@Edgehead10075 because ron paul is a republican. All the republicans are against it, they dont give two shits about the american people if they really cared health care wouldnt be an issue in america, if sooo many people dont want it why is there such a debate for change
TheRevolutionCanada 2 years ago
I thought that you worshipped Ron Paul though. There's a debate because, unlike what you've argued, it's the Democrats who don't give two shits what the people want. The American people are totally against this. They don't want more government control. They don't want the government denying old people quality healthcare in order to pay for this bill.
Edgehead10075 2 years ago
@Edgehead10075 The public Option helps people out who need health care and can;t afford it. DEMOCRATS actually are supporting helping people. THE REPUBLICUNTS are agianst it which means they dont want to help People in need of health care. LET ME ASK YOU SOMETHING IN THE 8 YEARS BUSH WAS IN POWER WHERE IS HIS HEALTH CARE REFORM? OH right there wasnt any. Every Industrialized nation has universal health care because everyone cares for one another. America is selfish thats why you dont have it
TheRevolutionCanada 2 years ago
The public option would have caused many people to lose their private insurance. That outweighs what good it could have done. If the Dems are for helping people, why do they support cutting Medicare to pay for this bill? No wonder the elderly totally oppose Obamacare. The elderly don't want rationed care.
There was no healthcare reform under Bush because it wasn't that important. BTW, the Dems controlled congress the last two years of Bush's administration and did nothing about it.
Edgehead10075 2 years ago
@Edgehead10075 BUSH DIDNT GIVE A FUCK ABOUT YOU PEOPLE look at what happened in New orleans just shows you how much he cared for you. The Dems want universal health care for every citizen in the states what is wrong with providing health care to the american people. Private Insurance is the reason why there is talk of change, your country spends twice as much on health care then any other country on the planet yet 50 million are not covered can you explain that.
TheRevolutionCanada 2 years ago
Obamacare wouldn't change the fact that we spend too much, and Republicans actually supported reform, just not everything that the Dems wanted. Why should a lazy bum who doesn't work get free healthcare? There's nothing wrong with private healthcare plans competing with one another.
New Orleans is an example of Bush's incompetence, not his lack of caring. He was actually quite heartbroken by what happened in New Orleans and the government's failure.
Edgehead10075 2 years ago
@Edgehead10075 LOL BUSH DIDNT GIVE A SHIT MY FRIEND HE WAS HEARTBROKEN LOL OK BUD you know whats true is that if everyone in New Orleans was rich that city would have been saved and it wouldnt be in the mess it is right now. But its ok to spend 2 trillion on wars right , I SEEE makes sense. You know that If you people pulled in all your troops from all over the world that you could afford health care for everyone of your citizens.
TheRevolutionCanada 2 years ago
The government is inefficient. It is a self-serving inefficient bloated machine.
The insurance companies have been abusive.
An ideal plan would regulate insurance companies and allow competition among many. Government can still cover the old and the poor, maybe.
Remember, put the INDIVIDUAL 1st.
The individual>corporation>government.
Bill Maher's opinion doesn't matter. He's just an entertainer. Most are ignorant.
Sincerely, a concerned surgeon.
oran6es 2 years ago
If government is inefficient, then you would agree the post office, VA and the military is inefficient also.
DRSmetal 2 years ago
Yes. Personal experience. We treat VA and privately insured patients. Without fail, there is about 4X the paperwork, takes up 4x the time of hospital and office ancillary staff, and hospital stays are typically double of the privately insured. The bureaucratic mess dealt with takes away from patient care and makes patient care more expensive for the taxpayer.
oran6es 2 years ago
That's why Health IT is very important. Putting medical information on a computer back up-database would solve a lot of the problems without all that paperwork.
DRSmetal 2 years ago
@DRSmetal That won't make the VA, or the government, any more efficient than a more competitive based private sector.
Keep medicare and make it more solvent, have a govt plan for the working poor and poor in general( have them taxed to pay for part of it), tax personal injury bullshit, eliminate wasteful govt spending ie dept of education($43 billion/yr) (education is a state, local, and private matter).
oran6es 2 years ago
I think its such a hypocrisy that the politcians who are against the public option have there own health plans funded by the public in other words they have universal health care for themselves but the american people they "WORK FOR" they wont allow it, thats real sad, and also these politicans get so many handouts from big pharma and the insurance industry no wonder the public option wont pass
TheRevolutionCanada 2 years ago
The American people oppose the public option and Obamacare in general. Deal with it. The people should get what they want.
Edgehead10075 2 years ago
Every poll in this country, including Gallop shows americans overwhelmingly support health care reform as well as a public option. Health care should be a right, not a privilege! I pay blue cross 2800 a month, but if I miss or am late so much as one payment, my wife would have to be hospitalized by the state! (hit and run victim)! Praising private insurance agencies, is like praising

llebadboy 2 years ago
Uh, wrong. First of all, you're lying about every poll showing that Americans support healthcare reform. Rasmussen, which only polls likely voters, says that Americans overwhelmingly don't support healthcare reform or the public option. Healthcare is not a right, nor should it be. oran6es 2 years ago
Hey,
It's stupid to eliminate competition.
AMA=20% MDs only.

US Progress?
visitorxox 2 years ago
It wasn't just the homeowners' fault---the economy crash was also due to the real estate market being unregulated, thereby letting mortgage companies/eal estate/agents sign up homeowners they KNEW were bad risks, but they didn't care because they were making money. You can't blame that all on the taxpayers, especially since the banks know this was going on, but didn't care because they were getting paid too. Plus they have all kinds of sneaky ways of helping to quicken the foreclosure process.
statelybird3 2 years ago
No bank would write a mortgage knowing a buyer would default. In good times the bank pays >15% of the loan & waits 3 months to 2 years. Time & money are lost. Yes, greedy human buyers caused the problem. At the peak people desperate to buy would fudge any promissory note. High rate, no problem. Just refi later - until oh oh! Politicians even blamed people in the beginning, until the foreclosure numbers blew up. Then people = voters: so better blame the banks & today blame medical ins firms.

Edgehead10075 2 years ago
Nope I support the public option. Which works actually quite. But what you or your little redneck brain don't get is that Obama is trying bring a hybrid system. What that is a system that has both private and public option and both can co-exist. One Example I am going to Compare Japan to the US.
chrisfo19 2 years ago
I never said that Obama was proposing 100% socialized medicine, although it's only because he'd have no chance of getting it passed. He has stated in the past that he's for single-payer.
I oppose the public option because it will lead to people losing their private insurance. It will also most likely cover illegal aliens and possibly even abortions.
Edgehead10075 2 years ago
really he said " if you have private Insurance and like you have than thats fine keep it". Why do you think its called an option. What he is bringing is a hybrid system and I probably Explained this before but in a hybrid you can have the private enterprise and the public option can co-exist and compete. But sadly the HI monopolies don't want you to know this because they want to make money of your life and then just throw you out like they do to everybody heck they did it to me.

it works in different countries because they have much better regulated food industry and a public that is more compliant to having the government control them, whether it be their smoking or what they eat. Also, these countries have much higher taxes to pay for these programs, which Americans would never go for. so you're saying that the FBI works when the can't even find their most wanted, the DEA works even though marijuana heroine and cocaine are still huge problems, and NASA works when we haven't even been to the moon since 1972 or still haven't had a maned mission to Mars (and im not sure if you're referring to astronaut john boner or or minority leader john boehner, but I assure you that he isn't the only one to have held these beliefs)

Ahh yes THOSE AGENCIES DO WORK.
Who took down al capone? Destroyed the Mob etc?
How many murderers and domestic terrorists have the FBI caught?
For you to insinuate that they are not effective at what they do is idiotic at best.
Also re Nasa. You think what they do is easy? Try launching your own space shuttle.
And you quoted John Boner verbatim. Mr. memorex

So by stating that prohibition was a failure , your in fact meaning government doesn't have as much control as you elude too , right ?

So where does all this paranoia about " big government " come from ?

actually i watched his show on hbo last friday and did see that, i never said we were socialized, i didn't even reference that universal healthcare was socialization (though it is).

I just don't see it Iceman, I'm sorry . No system , private or state run is perfect .
hotdogwell 2 years ago
true, but private has shown time and time again to work better than public (another example would be airline safety, private companies caught a greater percentage of bomb materials than security systems led by the FAA)
g13iceman 2 years ago
Maybe so , I'm not sure and have nothing to reference this too .I do know alot of private company's use gov. standards as something to train thier employe's with . They also are required by law to meet gov. standards in safety at a minimum .
