he is (was?) the new improv drummer de jour. this is a beautiful piece... lets hope the attention he gets provides exposure to all the other percussionists of this persuasion that have been playing for years and years in total obscurity. there's some extraordinary players out there.

Sorry, I've tried. I thought I was a pretty broad-minded guy when it came to music, what with Sun Ra, Can, Yoko and Fennesz in my collection. But this left me cold. And maybe I'm a whelp, but it's easier to dig a talent that can be more easily measured. Sorry.

i have also seen him live, and while he does bow cymbals, i think that in this clip he is bowing a string that he stretched over his snare which is held up by a little violin bridge thing that sits in the middle of the snare...
