  • Guys just remember. HP is Crap without torque.

  • Sorry, red light, the pass doesnt count.

  • is the 383 stroked?

  • @Hot80s No. It's running a procharger (centrifugal supercharger). It's also running the stock big block crankshaft. It's also a street car. :D

  • is this carbureted or EFI ? if this is carbureted some one has done an amazing set up /tune up.

  • I want. I want. I want. Years ago, an AMX blew my doors off while I was out driving my Nova SS. Had I been driving this machine, I would have peeled the paint off that AMX.

  • One kid has been arguing on here for a month what a loser.

  • Hey sdconcepts, i'm rebuilding a mopar 400 big block and I wanted that 4th gear overdrive like seen here, does the trannie in this video bolt to the 383/400 block directly? Or do I need some sort of adapter plate etc.? Please reply, I have more questions on this matter.

  • Nice car

  • @specops1991 You're correct, I didn't think of that. Guess it's just ANOTHER thing we did right.

  • @specops1991

    LOL

    Pwned

  • Street Legal my Butt. Nice.

  • READ: The volume on my PC was on MAX when I watched this awesome clip. My sister was sleeping very close to the PC, and I couldn't turn the volumedown! Because the computer f***ed itself. BUT ITWAS AWESOME!

  • pass everything but a gas station

  • All this crap about HP is funny since HP sells engines and Torque wins races.

  • @heartfanjim01 hp's valid. torque/rpm gives you usable force. if you had a motor that put out 1000ft/lbs of torque at 1 rpm it would be almost impossible to use that power for speed (diesels). cvt's would be the best for that but they're not quite there yet.

  • @heartfanjim01

    torque x 5250 = HP's....takes torque to make horsepower....

  • @sdconcepts While a car is idling it is making more hp then torque. Without any hp there will be NO torque. It take hp to turn the transmission gears. The output from the gears puts out the torque.

  • @surrynet Actually, mathematically, no engine will ever make more HP than torque at a given time unless it is beyond 5252 revs. If you look at any dyno chart, you'll see the lines for power and torque always intersect at that value. It's in the definition of horsepower. But don't be confused by torque at the wheels vs torque at the engine. The power of the engine is what produces driving torque at the wheels. Power is just a carrier, defining how much torque and revs you have to play with.

  • @heartfanjim01 Horsepower is really pulling power. That is what propels a vehicle at high speeds. Torque is more associated with pulling power at low speeds, such big heavy duty truck hauling trailers.

  • @heartfanjim01 crap is what happens when idiots start talking about torque vs horsepower. its possible to have 10,000 ft lbs of torque or even a 100,000 and still score zero HP ! (now watch idiots flock in to try to argue about this)

  • @heartfanjim01 I have seen people put too low of a gear to generate torque but ran out of gear before the end of the 1/4 and lost to same engine setup that had a taller gear ratio. Torque can help on bottom end but at the same time can hurt you. Its all according to the length of track.

  • @heartfanjim01 wats the differance?

  • My Challenger does 13's with a little 318 cid. Thanks to Edelbrock, Holley & Comp Cams!

  • @MrThedocholiday 318, with the right combination of aftermarket parts, can be extremely powerfull and fast. Not only that, but you can buy one from your local wrecking yard for about $50. These engines are one of Chryslers best aftermarket performance engines next to the 225 slant six.

  • @smallbee1234 i got a 340. hard as hell to find in this area

  • With that said, this is one bad Mopar!

  • Brodix, Indy, Dart, Edelbrock, Trick Flow & the other aftermarket engine parts suppliers are laughing at you guys arguing about Manufacturer's engines that don't perform worth squat. They can't even compared to a race built engine with aftermarket parts because manufacturers have to always take economy into consideration sooner of later. While racing companies always prioritize performance first. It's all just metal & how you build it that makes the power, not Ford, GM, or Japan.

  • you missed the burnout

  • I would love to ride along on one of those runs.

  • @AltRage i have i got a tip keep your head against the head rest it helps alot

  • @AltRage

Jokerlife08 isn't kidding. It's almost like taking off in a fighter jet; you get thrown back and pretty much have a dry orgasm.

  • I love how someone is telling everyone how great japanese cars are, while toyota is recalling several MILLION of its cars.

American car manufacturers dropped the ball, but now - Japan and US are basically the same in terms of reliability and tech after the US car makers got their head out of their ass. I still want a CTS-V OR an M5.

  • new bugatti

  • Mo-power

  • @dunnhillsupramk3 fuck you japan sucks just saying

  • @avecchi220 well japan motors get more power per cubic inch of displacement and they are better made and have better tech and will probably run forever... you know if you gave japan a hemi they will give you back with enough power to go toe to toe with a nuclear power plant? just saying....

  • @dunhillsupramk3 really? I don't see any japanese cars from the 50's and 60's that are still running.

  • @Eclipse1988 lol hate to dot this to ya j but its a 73 lolz n there r honda's out there from that year running still how well tho i cant tell u. but i do know where u r coming from in all of this so props. oh i got a vid u will love ill link it to ya.

  • @mortadablo k nick, I never said this chally wasn't a 73. lol I'm trying to refer to older cars generally, not this one in particular. But my comment says what it says, and I, in fact, HAVE NOT in all my time "on the road" seen any jap cars older than the 80's models. I know they're out there. but I've seen more classic muscle driving around in "GOOD shape". And if you're gonna say "thats because a lot of them are restored" I'll simply say, how come nobody gives a shit to restore the old ricers?

  • @Eclipse1988 are you kidding me?? they are alot of japanese cars from the 60's and 80's that are still on the road well not in america but other parts in the world where people don't have alot of money and roads are bad.... hell i got a mk3 supra(1988) and the body on that car is like show room condition....

  • @dunhillsupramk3 Firstly, I said I haven't seen any jap cars OLDER (not newer) than the 80's. So by telling me you have a 1988 Supra, doesn't really make a valid point to me. Although I'm glad you take good care of your vehicle, I see 80's supras all the time. And second, yes I'm in the U.S.A. so what you said comes into play, for the most part, people have newer stuff. And before you get all "omg are you kidding me?!" I simply said "I haven't seen these old cars", never said they were ALL gone.

  • @Eclipse1988 dude, lol why are you hating when you name is a import? lol and who wants to drive somthing where it has no technology at all and has tires the size of a scooter on the front..looks like a mouse givin a elephant a piggy back ride...a real car is rated on performance all around...and if you disagree than your not a true car ethusiast..but just a true red neck..and lol i bet you cant take that thing around the block without running out of gas..i want something i can always drivewithHP

  • @SrtKillz12345 A.) My first car was a mitsubishi eclipse, that's why. B.) I don't hate all imports, nor did I ever say all around performance is not important, but if you look closely at the video, you'll notice that this is in fact a "drag track", which means cars would be best off set up for.... you guessed it, drag racing, ok? Dodging cones doesn't help you get down a 1/4 mile. I wasn't about to say I'd bet on this thing if the track had a turn, so don't get the wrong idea, chief.

  • @Eclipse1988 and by the way its hard to produce cars in the 50's when your country just got demolished by bombs 10 years before that, use your head?..and lol now there a super powerover us and producing badass carsthat can make well over a 1100hp thatsreliable and can bedriven back and forth to work with also being somewhat quiet unless you open her uppoint is i want a badass car that looks good and i can drive when ever i want and where everwhen this car right here can only go a quater mile..

  • @SrtKillz12345 C.) Ok, now you're just saying the same shit as the other dickhead, stop copying! Yes, we microwaved the fish heads, I get it. That still doesn't mean they didn't have cars until after the 50's.

Finally, that brings me to this... My original comments were based on which cars were more timeless, and built more solid. So I have no idea where you found it valid to start speaking to me of performance as if we're gonna race them all.

  • @SrtKillz12345 "And by the way" I really don't need it explained to me that there are cars in existence that can out handle muscle cars, LOL. They were notorious for having bad handling and bad brakes. If you want a nice cruiser, you can drive a classic muscle car just fine, and look great! The car in this video is FAR from stock. Don't tell me you need a 1,100hp crazy ass performer, to go places and look classy. Anyway, enough.

  • @SrtKillz12345 Hey, guess what, the challenger is set up for drag racing, i've seen these types of cars blow everyone else away at road courses too though, and as for gas, the 383/400 big blocks had a small block stroke, meaning better fuel economy, I got an average of 16 mpg highway with my 400 and that was before the rebuild so blow it out your ass, have a good one.

  • @Eclipse1988 nice for you

  • @dunnhillsupramk3 fuck you Japan sucks just saying

  • dodge power bitches

  • Mopar Rules, Pure and simple............

  • How come overhorsepower muscle cars are legal now, and they weren't in the 1970s and decades thereafter? Seems, it's as if the future stole the gold of the past. I have been observing this fo thirty years os more now. Slick tires were outlawed in the mid 1970s, who has repealed the law? And we know why they outlawed them then, because you had meneaverability and could easily outrun the Cops.

  • i dont know much about cars... can someone explain to me how this is possible? what did you do to it?

  • @greensp4rk It depends on the Car, I dont know engines like the back of my hand BUT basically by changing out or altering parts in the engine such as adding a supercharger or turbo charger ( forced induction ) can increase the horsepower of cars anywhere from 100-500 or more horsepower alone, other things such as the cam/cylinder heads/headers/exhaust pipes/engine block/ and things of that nature can be altered or replaced to increase horsepower greatly. Not to mention tires/transmission/ etc..

  • lindo esse video

  • 71-70 front end??

  • wanna race for slips? >.>

  • fuck yea mopar

  • good movie,i need white 1970 for life

  • Dear Santa...

  • is it wrong this gave me a slight chubby

  • sign flash hemi! none needed here!!

  • will u take $55,000 for it, or how much do u want for it.....

  • lol is it weird that i think of the muscle car from cars the movie that sneezes and then launches hahahaha

    /watch?v=X-eVmFc1s_Q

    soooo fast

  • @davidlundy41 LMAO! That shit was funny, I haven't seen that movie.

  • I just wet myself

  • Holy Mother Of MOPAR! That’s amazing!

  • all i can say is BAD ASS!

  • she's a beauty...

  • this is great to put together a 383 and suprcharge it !this motor got no respect for making power

  • @smilsmff The 383 and 400 are my favorite mopar big blocks, they have a big bore/short stroke layout. This means a few things: one, they rev like a small block, but they still have plenty of torque, and secondly, the short stroke helps quite a bit with fuel economy, you can manage 15-20 mpg highway depending on climate and gearing.

  • @DeAdiSSu3 lol i remember i drove my 340 and it got 15 mpg and i thought wow!!back during the 80s

  • i dont like the look of this challanger, but when i hear this sound...well than i dont give a shit about look

  • GOD DAMN!!!!! straight as a god damn arrow! ugh nice ride..

  • put that thing against a bugatti

  • @cartmanrulez32 you gotta be kidding. the veyron is no drag car. the veyron ss (1200hp) ran a 10.2 at the 1/4 mile in the autocar test which is hideous and no match for this 8 second beast.

  • @3O2MuStAnG yea but it would shut up people.

  • @cartmanrulez32 no one lets bikes race cars at track

  • is this at new england dragway??

  • Wow! While driving it around on the street do you ever get any little punks in their honda civics wanting to race? Could only imagine the look on their face as you pull away before they even step on the gas.

  • @HealTheToj lol yea definitely anyone that drives a civic and brags about it is just awful

  • That didnt look like a full 1/4 mile was it? It looked like just a 1/8 mile strip.

  • @Warfighter140 Yes 1/4 mile at almost 160 mph, this is a street car also.

  • that bitch is fast

  • I have a headache and this still sounded beautiful.

  • @IWillKillllllllllllU The mechanical equavalent of Johnny Weismueller doing the Tarzan yell.

  • You sir, owe me some new speakers... Hahaha, Mopar or no car!

  • this is fucking fast!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • and this is the filal push crysler needed to come out with the 2011 challenger

  • 1971 Challenger GRILLE. Anyone else catch that?

  • 0:45 I came

  • you say its a 73 but it has a grill of a 71

  • DUUUDE!!! That thing is siiiiick!!!!!

  • that just made my day

  • what makes that beast street legal?

  • @bboi1010 It's just a 1973 challenger with a stock block/crank 383 big block and a procharger. It's street legal as long as the rears are radials and all the lights/tunr signals/flashers etc. work. I don't think emissions bullshit factors in for anything before 1974 or so? Good thing I got a '73 Fury eh? ;)

  • fuckin beast

  • Such a beautiful and sick car. I love both Mopar AND Chevy.

  • great day in the mornin that thing is haulin ass

  • muscle cars....the only thing us americans CAN build lol

  • in america is everything street legal!

  • @Swissspartans everything pre- 1974 is

  • @Swissspartans not really....

  • Oh my god.............. That's fast

  • shit son, thats insane. can you image yourself driving on the highway in a nice car, this dude pulls up to you, you think: lets floor it! and the car next to you almost launches itself!!!! id shit myself sideways

  • Nothing stand a chance against that mopar...unless its another mopar,or something American!

  • can i have ur car i will give u r barracuda and my challenger haha

  • mother fuuuuu. that is a bad ride...

  • and why isnt this car ever at mopar nationals?

  • 1000hp is 1000hp no matter how u look at it, and if u want to make a 2.0L 4cylinder have 1000hp u know how much mods and money u have to put in, as for a american v8 all u need to do is upgrade the heads and ur already half way there, then pistons and then ur done a 4cyl ull need to rebuild everything and reinforce everything, i like hondas im not gonna lie to u, but i know its place and its not on a drag strip

  • Comment removed

  • 1000HP is weak nowadays especially when u can get it out of a 2.0l 4 cylinder. and dont comment back saying the internals will blow and wateva else, its still a 2.0l making 1000hp

  • @brazzr what good is 1000 horsepower when you can only use it for one pass i dare you go heads up 3 times with that thing and you will get laughed at by people who really know how to build a car and race. not to mention those cars cant match the class and style of american muscle. u watched the fast and the furious way to much and now u look like a jackass.

  • @dieseltruks11 u look like a wanker cos u didnt read my comment properly, nd there isnt any 1000hp on fast and furious is there?

  • @brazzr only milk and juice comes in 2 litres

  • @cuda540ify wow ur a fucktart

  • @brazzr wow. moron. stick to lancers.

  • @brazzr na just sold mine, but thannx anyway nigger

  • @brazzr This car isn't 1,000 hp, it's WELL over 1,000 hp, and it's street-legal. YOU'RE weak for coming to a muscle car video and trying to say 1,000 hp is "weak" just because you can pump 30 PSI into an all-forged jap motor and get 1,000 hp! It still wouldn't measure up to v8 torque, and it still wouldn't measure up in terms of style or nostalgia either.

  • @DeAdiSSu3 and you are the owner? ps the title says 1000hp so you no that makes me think that it has 1000hp, i cant just look at a car and go aw that has 1763479535793hp..... and another ps, my comment had nothing to do with torque or style.....

  • @brazzr No i'm not the owner, but there's plenty of info on this car online if you look. I'm pretty sure it's 1,000 horsepower at the rear wheels....still using stock crankshaft and block....PS I don't care if your comment had nothing to do with torque or style, the facts remain: Muscle cars are classics, and they always have a shitload of torque....also, 1,000 hp is never "weak", even nowadays, especially since this car is from 1973, running mid-8 second passes while being street-legal....

  • @DeAdiSSu3 to bad the internals arent from 1973.....

  • @brazzr The crankshaft is....even if the pistons and rods are forged, it's worth the extra money by miles. This car has been running on stout boost (on the street) for ten years straight. It's not even a turbo motor, it's got a procharger. A twin turbo setup with some new bearings and you're talking 7's on pump gas.

  • @DeAdiSSu3 are you trying to say that isn't forged or blown? nostalgia is different for those that grew up after the 70's.

  • @koglowa No. What i'm saying is we don't need 30 psi or nitrous to make 1,000 hp. There's plenty of v8 powered cars (mostly hemis) that dyno over 900 hp at the wheels...and "nostalgia" for those who grew up after the 70's is actually ignorance. Unless of course they were taugbht by someone who knew their shit.

  • @DeAdiSSu3 forged or blown...without that you will not make 900-1000hp on any motor sir. and being born in '88 makes my nostalgia not driving or seeing the cars on the street, but waking up every morning to my neighbor starting his chevelle. that car was beautiful and i will never forget the goosebumps i got when it rolled by.

  • @koglowa I've seen quite a few hemi barracudas/cudas and challengers put down 900+ at the wheels WITHOUT any kind of supercharger or turbocharger, or nitrous, almost all of which were running either e85 (which is available at the pump nowadays anyway) or race gas, but no boost or nitrous. btw you don't really need all forged internals for big power, especially if you're still running on atmospheric pressure. This challenger for example, is running low boost, still with the stock crankshaft lol

  • @DeAdiSSu3 i know of at least one jap motor you can push a 1000hp stock now 1000hp is alot of power no matter what car has that amt of power its alot as for style different people likes different things... also the "japs" do make 5.0 v8's, 6.0 v12's, 4.8 v10's which will run circles around any American v8 just saying.......

  • @dunhillsupramk3 not the new mustang 5.0..lol

  • @KLX1990 do your homework man.. because the v 10 i was talking about was lifted out of a F1 car demodd and put in the LFA... so no the new 5.0 can't beat it

  • @dunhillsupramk3 duh? of course the v10 will "beat it" but the 5.0 side by side with the new ford 5.0? don't think so

  • @KLX1990 the v10 is a 4.8

  • @dunhillsupramk3 and its a v10, my point was 5.0 v8 vs 5.0 v8..pretty easy to comprehend

  • @KLX1990 sorry about that... ok so the new 5.0 got 402 hp and 377 lb·ft and the isf got 417 hp and 373 ft·lb both with 87 octane but the 5.0 got 6 forward gears where the isf got 8 forward gears both cars are naturally aspirated ( no forced induction) but then again lexus is known to underdog there cars by at least 60hp at times and the lexus got a ratio change E-diff which means better power delivery to the weels i don't know but my money will be on the lexus what you think?

  • @dunhillsupramk3 the ford 5.0 makes its 373ft lbs 1000 rpm sooner than the lexus, i'd personally rather have that over a few horsepower in a 1/4 mile, assuming thats what you're using as a benchmark, and speaking of which, 8 forward gears don't mean much in a 1/4 mile, as overdrive doesn't really have a chance to kick in. and the lock up TC is pretty useless as well

  • @dunhillsupramk3 not sure what you mean by e-diff, electronic locking? if so, the $61k lexus does not come with it base, it comes with a limited slip. just like the mustang does, however the base mustang diff is 3.31 vs the lexus' 2.93. ford is also known to underrate their vehicles, every manufacturer has been known to do this since the muscle car era, saves you money on car insurance

  • @KLX1990 lol funny e-diff is not only electronic locking but diff electronically change ratios and also i was looking up the new ford mustang 5.0 they change alot they put in most of the stuff lexus have but remember lexus had this since 2005 and they had the tech long before that also the gearbox comes from germany

  • @dunhillsupramk3 okay but i believe the original point was the new 5.0 can outperform the lexus 5.0..how can a differential change its ratio on the fly? its mechanical... gearbox from germany doesn't mean much, as it can still be beaten by a chinese gear box like the mustang has. if i was gonna spend $61k on a car, i'd just get the shelby gt500 and there is no way the lexus could touch one of those at all, stock vs stock

  • @KLX1990 ok the original point was about engines not diffs and gearboxes the both v8s are very close and i only looked up the specs on the new 5.0 one day ago i said japan motors got more power and you said the new 5.0 would beat it but the truth is the 5.0 v8s are very close

  • @dunhillsupramk3 jap v8's are a sensitive topic, don't forget euro v8's ;)

  • @DeAdiSSu3

You tell 'em, brother! As my father always said: There's no replacement for pure horsepower from cubic inches. The ricers think that their Civics can take on these American classics because of shit like Fast and the Furious.

  • ... so, do you like your rice fried.. or burnt?

  • excuse me while i change my underwear........

  • @rustymaan hHhHahaha

  • Comment removed

  • @smallbee1234 lost in a flood...what happened? Where is this car from?

  • Comment removed

  • Whos ever car this is...it is beyond nice. Would love to see it run in the flesh.

  • i believe i heard 3 shifts. is this true ? does it have a gear vendor or something ?

  • @pulitovr

good ear. has a gm 4L80E trans. Overdrive was a must in this car to keep it street friendly and to keep rpm's reasonable while racing. :)

  • @sdconcepts man im suprised it can hold all the power. nice. very nice.

  • @sdconcepts wow, because it sounds like the ratios of 3-4 are closer than normal? can the ratio of each gear be independently changed on those?

  • @pulitovr drag cars generally only use 2 or 3 gears for strips to get higher RPM's out of the engine. Dodge has a new Challenger out this year called the Mopar challenger Srt10 with a 2 speed transmission... very cool car..

  • Seems 6 people drive ricers

  • Holyyyy shit.... this is fucking CAR PORN.

Wait... I need to go change my pants. Dammit, I just came.

  • screw those camaros and mustangs

  • @mikewm9v No dude screw supras :D

  • Omg dude do want, do want indeed

  • @kz2448 no worries... open your wallet to the tune of about $100k and you can build your own !

  • o caro e 1000 cavalos so deu 160 q lixo!!!!!!!

  • @igs789987 160 milhas por hora burrooooo

  • @mwtosin eu sei animal da um poko mais de 240 km ainda ta poko pra carro de 1000 cavalos seu fdp!

  • Nice car!!!!MoPars rule!!!That thing is fast!!!!Looks street legal to me!!

  • not to sound like a smart ass but how in the world is that street legal!!?

    muscle beats import every time.

  • muscle over import:)

  • amazing..

  • YEE-FKN-HAW!!!!!!!!!!

  • danll5 - +++1 So many clarkson following idiots dont know anything about cars. Old american muscle is as good in comparison to old German quality. Its different thats the end of it.

A lot of brainwashing went on in the 70's about Japanese production methods and quality, but there was little focus on the engine longevity.
