@SDsailor7 I don't have a vid of it, but it's pretty simple. There's a how-to on my site, 49ccscoot . com . Basically you just need to remove the carb (or disconnect the throttle cable, fuel line, and any other lines leading away from the engine). Then disconnect electrical items like the stator and starter.Disconnect the rear brake. Should be a single long bolt going through the mount and then a bolt where the rear shock(s) meet the engine.
@SDsailor7 There are some sort of general repair manuals out there. I have a few links to service manuals linked in my forum. It's not too hard to find a pdf for the 150 gy6.
@SteveWard3928 An impact wrench is the easiest way. If you don't have that, you can try a strap or chain wrench or a spanner to lock the clutch bell into place while you remove the nut. Set the rear brake if your scoot has a parking brake.
nice!! im glad i found this video. i've just had my race variator, 1000rpm torque spring and belt arrive through the post, so i now know what to do. great video great advice cheers man, you have made my life easier.
Hey, does anyone know how to do this on a 125cc GY6 clutch? I bought an oil filter wrench at Walmart and it was to small to fit around the clutch shoes.
Interesting, I am getting ready to install a contra spring today as soon as a variator I bought gets here, instead of going out to buy an impact wrench I think I will try this vise trick . Good info thank you.
Nice video! I like to hear Dethklok in the background. I have recently ordered a Dr. Pulley "hit " clutch for my Yamaha C3 and I am a bit worried about putting it together because of the spring, but your video has given me some confidence that maybe I could do it. I'm sure I'll still have to be really careful though.Hell I don't even know how much that ZTR tool is.
Nice job Man ! keep it up !

Most of my oil filter wrenches were too small too. They are sold in different sizes. You could try a strap wrench or maybe a chain wrench.
