  • Nice 2001 siren sounding with the P-50.

  • CALL JAY! :D

  • And I did call Jay (next door neighbor) but it was too late for him to see it. I was too busy videoing at the time :)

  • i remeber this it was first day of school i was in second grade

  • dude i was there it was cool

  • dude to tell the truth a funnel cloud is only declared a tornado when it touches the ground and that did not touch the ground my freind

  • Call it what you want. If it had dropped a bit there were some houses that would have been toast. The label is purely semantics.

  • @wpschammel I agree, just to see and be close to funnel that big and not sure wich way its was going, id be shittin a brick!

  • The definition does not require that the VISIBLE part of the tornado touch the ground - only that the wind vortex does. Whether that vortex forms a visible could all the way to the ground or not depends on water content, and that is not part of the definition. There is footage out there of "invisible" tornadoes where only the upper half is visibly dark but you can still see from the motion of debris that the lower part is moving in a vortex too.

  • @cusson27 technicly ur wrong its is theres a debri cloud below it it doesnt half to touch the ground all the way down ask someone

  • the cloud is taking a shit

  • Very nice rotating funnel cloud! You sounded scared as I would be too.

  • sky poop!

  • that is terrifying! Cool footage!

  • I remember this no power for days at Villa Park. And a lot of trees down, Lets hope no more tornado's here in Texas..lol.. I miss IL.

  • Whoa I Live in that area where the tornado formed it was the first day of school when i was in fifth grade ( going to 6 grade)

  • AWESOME footage of this tornado!

  • what town was this in???

cause i live in the suburbs of Chicago but i wasnt there when the tornado was forming.

    luckly.

  • This was at the Plainfield/Bolingbrook border. I took it from my house in Plainfield but the funnel cloud was over Bolingbrook. No significant damage, thankfully.

  • How big was tornado? please respond

  • It never touched down but, if it had, it probably would have been significant.

  • it touched down for 1.1 miles in bolingbrook, EF1

  • amazing°°

  • i licve in illnois though in chicago

  • I always thought the tornado sirens were eerie, but I only heard them when I lived in illinois.

  • What neighborhood was this torado taken from? Im in Lakewood Falls and I saw this from my driveway.

  • LOL READ DESCRIPTION ITS PLAINFIELD

  • Wow, imagine that, a tornado in Plainfield.

You said "Call Jay." That wouldn't be Jay O, would it?

  • how fast was this thing rotating?

  • probably at about 60MPH

  • omg i pee my pants. if i lived there i would be criying in a basement as soon as i knew there was a warning!! LOL

  • 0_o

    :)

  • Dude you're nuts I would be scared out of my mind! But you got some pretty awesome footage there

  • i live in crest hill and i remember that one. funny thing is it completly missed us off to the west and was heading due north. me and my neighbors were watching it. all the damn whistles were going off here anyway. just to warn the people who take it seriously unlike my goofy wife. stupid thing is about all the houses that they built out here like mine is none of them have basements. so if one of them damn thing comes put your head between your legs and kiss your ass goodbye.

  • i live in central illinois and on may 30, 2004 the tornado sirens went off 3 TIMES because of funnel clouds and tornado producing storms. i think we might get one this year

  • freaking sweet i love tornados

  • I remember that storm, I live in Braidwood, we had a few funnel clouds almost touch down where we were at. Luckily nothing did.

  • Probably the Ions from the plant bounce tornadoes away. Same thing at Byron IL.

  • what suburb do u live in because i rember that

  • Plainfield

  • me too

  • omg, you are right.

  • I told you, HurricaneFreak30336! I was there!

    last time.

    scary suff though.

  • eeks

  • FG94 scary but also cool at the same time

  • yep

  • I know how ya fell svstorm i live in westen springs and we dont get crap, i used to live in crest hill now that Was the Shit :D

  • Of course we barely get this kind of stuff since storms always by-pass north or south of where I live in Streamwood.

  • OMG!! CALL FUCKING JAY MARYANNE! YOU DUMB BITCH! I SAID TO FUCKING CALL HIM!!! IF I DIE, AND YOU LIVE, YOU STAY AWAY FROM MY FUNERAL ALRIGHT!!??(maryanne crying)

  • OH NO NOT JAY!

  • LOOK OUT FOR HIM!!!

  • I was in this. It was darn scary.

  • That looks like a few years ago here in Round Lake Beach. Sitting at work, sirens going and people on the street watching. But with the neighborhood it was over in a valley, it didnt really do much. It was fun to watch though!

  • Yeah, but it touched down near Romeoville.

  • i was watchin this video from another perspective and you are like totaly on opposite sides of the tornado!!

  • Yeah, Jay!

  • call jay

  • was jay alright?

  • wow isn't plain feild by st.charles i live there and i heard about it

  • I saw a tornado in somunauk Il(I forget how to spell it) during a baseball game the summer before I moved to NH. It was pretty cool, it only lasted a couple of seconds but it was anticyclonic.

  • that is eeeerrriiieee

  • looks like one big,swolled up cock head....spooky ne1 ne1

  • <~~New Lenox

  • in bolingbrook there was a funnel cloud pretty much like that on the same day. it was pretty scary

  • Aug 23,2007 I seen two funnels here in

    Calumet City

  • Where? I didn't see them and believe me I was looking!

  • omg i can see my house

  • my friend lives at that white house on the left. o.o

  • I live near there, but the tornado didn't reach me. We never get tornadoes in my part of Chicago.

  • same here.

  • Same too

  • wow nice vid iu would shit if i went out on my deck and saw that talk bout ur funnel cloud hope all went well

  • dude shit thats what it looked like thats were i live and that hows fuckin bid it was.....if i saw that befor weould have scard me shitless and im only 11

  • so is your brain...no one is complaning

  • ur lucky that u live in like joliet or the south side of chicago, because i live in the north shore and we NEVER get any tornadic storms, the biggest one we've had was on august 23 were we had a tornado warning from the first storm, and the second storm we just had high winds.

  • Wow. I'd be scared to death.

  • mee to

  • Agreed

  • ahaha lol xtreeme lol hahahhahahah ur funny

  • I was up at the Wisconsin Dells during those storms. I was at the waterpark and turned on the Weather Channel and they said that there was a tornadic storm crossing my own town! I called my dad who stayed home because he had to work and he said nothing bad happened. THE END!!!

  • WHAT TOWN IS THIS? Because I'm from Plainfield...yeah that '90 F5 was craaaazy!

  • lol oh shit WAR OF THE WORLDS SIRENS

  • hey did that dude j live over there in the suberbs

  • by rules it is a funnel cloud till it hit the ground than it becomes a tornado.

  • When that F-5 when through Plainfield I beleive the sirens where sounded after it went though

  • That is so creepy dude.Did it turn into a tornado?

  • It never touched down but apparently did some damage with winds up to 85 mph. Techically it was a weak tornado I guess.

  • that's weird. i don't remember hearing any tornado sirens. all i remember was that it was a really bad storm. O_x

  • i never hear the sirens. Air conditioning is too loud or something.

  • i know where the T-135 is.

  • Where is it?

  • I hear a T-135 and a 2001.

  • Didn;t Plainfield get raped by a tomato back in the 70's?

  • August of '90

  • FUCKING AWESOME

  • Me again. That's one huge Funnel. One of biggest I've ever seen!

  • great storm, the wall cloud had very strong rotation when it crossed Naperville-Plainfield Rd in northeast Plainfield. The funnel began to drop once it got into Bolingbrook near 127th and Essington. It has been confirmed as an EF0.

  • Sorry for my ignorance, what's an EFO? 127th and Essington is about right from my video although I can't tell how far it is away. This is very close to an earlier small tornado that tore off some roofs in the spring.

    Thanks, Wayne

  • I live off Stellar Lane, right by you. We were in our back yard and had a perfect view of it. Pretty wicked.

  • Howdy neighbor, I live on Eider Ct. Did you watch it or head for the basement?

  • An EF0 is the lowest rating on the enhanced Fujita scale which estimates the wind speed of the tornado, so about 65-85 MPH winds

  • So that's what happened. I was at the Meijer at Weber and Boughton in Bolingbrook and everyone had to gather at the front of the store. People kept going outside to see what was going on. I guess they couldn't see the tornado 'cause the store itself was blocking the view...

  • it was scary i went in the basement

  • Plus, we're under a flood watch right now! This is terrible!

  • What county are you in? I'm on cook county and I was under a tornado warning until 6:45. That storm was pretty bad over here. Another storm is coming our way right now.

  • I am in Will county (north Plainfield)

  • Oh, ok.

  • Well done.

  • So is that what prompted the tornado warning in Romeoville? It does look like a funnel but hard to tell from the video if there was any rotation. How long did it last? More details please.

  • There was rotation but it was hard to pick up with my camcorder. It lasted about 6 min or so. I have a longer video showing it falling apart. I think that when I took this it was clearly over Bolingbrook not Romeoville. I live in the north part of Plainfield and this was NE of me.

  • You sounded a bit scared.

  • Actually more excited than scared. It looked like it was moving away from us.
