Age does not take a roll in the voice, EVER, if as a metal singer your voice get´s fucked up, is because you coudn´t growl/scream ( this DOES fuck up your throat, and you either stop with it or you may be unable to speak). Smoking doesnt play that of a deal in voice change, almost every metal singer smokes.

Doing death metal growls for years on end can fuck your throat up though it might happen a hell of alot earlier because people just dont do it correctly.
