Stevie and Lori must have gotten along VERY well! They toured together, and Lori - her husband (Stevies brother) Christopher and their daughter Jessica - also live with her! I suppose she wasn't there very often! And probably when Chris and Lori divorced, this is the reason why Stevie sold the house! Lori should have started her own singing career just like Marilyn Martin!
And what's more what a high quality backing band she had - think I spotted Waddy Watchtell, Bill Payne, Russ Kunkel and Bob Glaub, all top top session players at that time!

I miss those cryptic little mysteries that wove their way into her songs, remember sable on blonde ? fireflies ? battle of the dragon ? She was and still is so beautiful - I had the honor to see her in Houston a couple of weeks ago and she looked incredible and sounded even better!! Stevie is great in this video. Of course these were a part of her cocaine years, and you can see her nod out in the middle of the video, her head goes down and she looks like she's nodding out and all coked up! hahahaha Thank God she didn't end up like Janis or Amy W. How did she do it? Years and years of drugs? And no overdose. Thank God she went to rehab... (Personally, I like my rock stars to be good and doped up, but only if they got a handle on it, if that makes sense.)
First time I'm seeing this. I was 23 in '83 and not watching much TV, let alone Solid Gold. But Stevie has, unlike many "divas" before or since, always captured our hearts and minds with her talent and beauty. I'm 50 now and seeing this for the first time, and am struck speachless by this performance. I read somewhere this was a last minute thing to do the duet with Lori Perry-Nicks. Stevie has always been beautiful to watch, but I admit I am abolutely smitten with Lori here. No better duet!

Possible these two airings coincided close to each other and maybe even included the same wardrobe. According to SG hostess Stevie made a "rare" TV appearance for this. This is one of my very favorite singers, of all time. And that's saying a lot. Her's is a very unique voice. Her's is an exceptional beauty. Her writing is waaaay above most artist's. Her place in my heart not only goes back a ways, it is enormous. One truly great talent, this lady is. And, this is one of her best songs. And that's saying a lot.

I keep coming back to this video in '83 x-mas time. The visuals are sooo stunning. Stevie is just radiant. The dress she is wearing is so goth and totally flatters her. And I love the duet with Lori Nicks, who is Stevie's sister-in-law. This video is so "goth" for me because it is about creatures in the night and Stevie looks so mystical.

I have a greater appreciation for the music of the 1980s as the years pass. At the time, I kept comparing the current music to the music of the 1960s. And, now, the music of today just pales in comparison to what was happening in the 80s. Funny how that works...

@joeyT108 Hey Joey...SuperFleetwoodMAC has this same video uploaded in HQ along with the Solid Gold intro from the Solid Gold hostess. I doubt that was a splice. Possible these two airings coincided close to each other and maybe even included the same wardrobe. According to SG hostess Stevie made a "rare" TV appearance for this. Either way, very well choreographed with Lori!

This is one of my very favorite singers, of all time. And that's saying a lot. Her's is a very unique voice. Her's is an exceptional beauty. Her writing is waaaay above most artist's. Her place in my heart not only goes back a ways, it is enormous. One truly great talent, this lady is. And, this is one of her best songs. And that's saying a lot.

Aaah, Stevie in her prime. This is such a beautiful song and Stevie looks like a beautiful goth goddess singing about creatures in the dark who "walk away..." I love this video. First time I saw it since it was televised in '83. I appreciate it now more.

I keep coming back to this video in '83 x-mas time. The visuals are sooo stunning. Stevie is just radiant. The dress she is wearing is so goth and totally flatters her. And I love the duet with Lori Nicks, who is Stevie's sister-in-law. This video is so "goth" for me because it is about creatures in the night and Stevie looks so mystical.
DON'T call me out on the "goth" thing. It's my own personal reflection. :-)

Stevie's voice is one of the most unique, if not the most singular (after Janis Joplin) in the history of rock music.
I love the harmonies of this song, tipically from the 80's. Actually the music of that era was the best.

I have a greater appreciation for the music of the 1980s as the years pass. At the time, I kept comparing the current music to the music of the 1960s. And, now, the music of today just pales in comparison to what was happening in the 80s. Funny how that works...
