  • LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE (from the UK)

  • I am from the mountains of NC (Brevard) and have lived in Florida for 20 years..I miss hearing this beautiful accent. I have treid hard to keep mine but I am finding I have picked up this dead sounding accent from Florida with some of my words. You really made me miss home and my people!!!

  • Well I'm in the same boat I had to fix mine because o people.

  • yay north carolina!

  • SEXY(:

  • @theHED92 Me too!

  • Very familar. I live in North Carolina, in Marion

  • southern accents are amazing, sweet, romantic.

  • hello from Buffalo Cove, Caldwell county nc

  • I LOVE it!!!

  • Hi, I'm from Australia, near Melbourne, and, I personally find your accent one of the sexiest accents ever.

    :) I love it.

  • up the rebs! love from sydney!

  • Rob , what part of North Carolina are you from? I've notice other people from the state don't have as thick of an accent.

  • This accent isn't my favourite, but I'll have to get used to it cause my bf's from North Carolina. I'm from Cumbria in England (marra) and in my opinion it sounds like you have a blocked nose! :D

  • Hmm. Your North Carolinan accent sounds like a mix of 'stereotypical Southern' (or Hollywood Southern. You know, the kind they speak in movies that no one actually speaks in real life, but sounds close enough to many real southern dialects to pass for non-southerners) and middle-class Australian.

So I don't know about anyone else, but to me it mixes 'Southern Hospitality' with 'G'day mate' type connotations. I find it sounds friendly and easy going, not 'redneck'.

  • I'm classy in Cary :P

  • Greetings from the Triad. Sounds good to me ;)

  • @misspotter haha i know! i <3 sweet tea

  • I live in North Carolina in the Piedmont area and I talk just like you. Whenever I go to Colorado (where I was actually born) my family gives me hell. They think I'm stupid because of the accent but I can't help where I was raise and honestly I wouldn't change it, I like having an accent.

  • @leahcasaus raised*

  • i am from washington state...... and southern accents are a really big turn ON for me. :)

  • Im from Canada andddd.... Southern accents are a REALLY big turn off to me XD

  • ya ummm im from detroit sooo god ur accents weird interestin ...... n i like it buuutttt soo weird=)

  • wow.. :) I can't believe I typed "north carolina southern accent" into google and found the perfect video.. I'm from New Zealand and am thinking of moving to the US, most probably NC as I have family there and wondered how my accent might turn (I would be more than happy to let it turn, our accent is boring) and you're accent is just fantastic. I wish and hope that someday I can talk the way you do:p

  • Hi there, can someone tell me, is this how folks down in South Carolina speak? Particularly along the coast? I'm British and I'm writing a novel set in Georgetown and I want to capture the dialect perfectly. Sorry if I sound like the oblivious British girl here >_< Xxx

  • I think it's sexy, but that's only because I am from Julian, NC and their is nothing I love more than a good ol' country boy.

  • I'm from nc, it's funny when I go up 2 Michigan and everyones amazed at my accent lol

  • @happybunny199714

That reminds me of when I went up to Maryland and at breakfast they asked me what I would like to drink and I replied "sweet tea" and they looked at me like I had lost my mind.

  • I'm from NC and my accent isn't near as thick as yours:) I'm from Salisbury. Mine's quite thick, just not as thick. I've made friends with a few Northerner's and they all are just completely infatuated with my accent, it's hilarious:)

  • Wow I like a little ways away from you in Bakersville. It's crazy to think that we live so close to each other but have totally different accents. You can defiantly tell that you are from the south. But up here ours is alot deeper. I get made fun of all the time lol. Have a good day darlin!

  • im from georgia and you sound the same as everybody down here

  • i love southren accents

  • i looooove iiiiiiiit <333

  • im an aussie and i love it XD

  • im from north carolina and i dont have that accent (im from spruce pine near you!) and i sound from the city lol

  • OMG. You........ UGHHHHHHHHHH. FITTTTTTTTTTTTT.

  • love it

  • im from Canada... nicee accent! :D i luvv ittt

  • HaHa I LOVE it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Love it. From Minnesota :)

  • Yoou Sound Like Cowboys, It's So Cutee:3

  • That's crazy cuz I'm from Oklahoma and you sound completely normal to me.... I must have a southern accent too!

  • I'm from Indiana and I think your accent is so so sexy :) love me some southern country boys =)

  • im from NC and i moved to NH cause my dad was in the airforce and i had a strong accent but now being up here for 17 years its gone =( i still got alittle bit of it like ya'll and i miss it i love the southern accent like urs

  • I left North Cacalacky to find work and really miss it--especially the cool accent, Hearing you makes me homesick because you sound a lot like a great friend of mine(kinda look like him too). Please do another vid w/ someone else who is authentic. Maybe capture some candid fun time... stories, jokes, etc. I love your accent and voice. Don't overdo it, though.

  • @rumcookie12 I just left NC for work opportunities as well. Im living in South Carolina now.

  • I used to hate it, but now it's kinda growing on me. :)

  • its cute

  • Your accent's quality, a love the southern and American accents in general, purely because it's entirely different from that of my own, I can say this as am from Scotland, so it's not something we would hear every day. TV is different and we all know there's the difference between TV and real life.

  • Damn straight North Carolina!

  • I looooooove southern accents !!!!!!!!!

  • I love the south! I love the southern accents, both from whites and blacks. They are friendlier than Canadian whites by far!! I wen to North Carolina and had a blast...would love to go back again!

  • Whereabouts in NC are you from, exactly? I live in Greenville, NC (though I'm not from here) and you sound just a little different from most folks around here.

My own accent is generic-TV-American (from Florida), but I find Southern accents much more pleasant. Living here, it's tempting to adjust my accent to fit in, but everybody can tell when I'm faking it -- so you shouldn't try to fake a different accent, either. NC rules and don't let anybody tell you otherwise.

  • @Schenectadont Im from Western NC (foothills area, near the mountains) Actually Marion, NC

  • I'm from NY and everyone jokes on my accent =\ but I love southern accents, y'all actually say words right unlike us new yorkers lol

    Your accent is awesome

  • I'm from Alabama and I sound just like you. Neat.

  • I'm in the Piedmont region of NC, and my accent isn't quite that thick. But you sound fine to me!

  • Belfast says: "Your accent tis lovely, wish it were me own!" hahaha, and california thinks it's NASCARy , Jk, I live in CA inland empire, but I speak Belfast accent,

  • i fucking LOVE!... you accent!

  • I think your accent is great. I am from Louisiana, and our accents vary depending on which part of the state you are from. If we all sounded alike it would be pretty dull. LOL

  • I believe my accent is a little thicker also, what region are you coming from?

  • Wow, My fiancee is hopefully getting transferred to Winston-Salem with his job and I defiantly hear your drawl. Im form by Saint Louis, MO but a little south of there and people say I sound hick but Gosh they are really gonna make fun of me with that. But I LOVE the drawl. I work for elderly who are form down south and they sound hicklish too lol

  • Alot of people in eastern North Carolina seem to have a much stronger accent than the people in western North Carolina. It's more drawn out and not just a twang type of sound like you here in the west and alot of other places.

  • @xx383 agreed.

  • Comment removed

  • I'm from Georgetown, SC, went to College of Charleston where I though everyone else would have the same accent but I sure was wrong! Lots of people picked on me about my accent so I kept quiet and didn't make friends. What a mistake! Southerner are most proud of our heritage and that's where we get our accents. LOVE yours, but we shouldn't give a dang what other people think ;-) I am now proud of mine.

  • hello from hickory nc!!!

  • @Chaney1027 right down the road from me. I'm Marion, NC about 30-40 minutes West of you.

  • @robman285 lol I am from Shelby. and American English would be very broad lol North to South is different and then even state to state is different

  • North Carolina come on and raise up!!!

mines thick like that i'm from north carolina

  • North Caroloooona

  • I'm directly under you(SC) and I don't hear many people with a hard southern accent. The only time I did was when I went to Texas with my cousin.

  • The closest thing anyone will hear to the true original southern accent will probably be around the upper Cape Fear river area of eastern North Carolina. This is where it supposedly originated.

This area was settled by the largest number of Highland Scots of anywhere else in North America. They didn't speak English at all. They spoke an ancient Gaelic language. It was their struggle to learn English that caused them to speak the way they did.

  • i love it! its like a welcoming friendly accent :)

    im from england x

  • It sounds like you might have a cold. Other than that, your voice sounds fine to me.

  • I'm Canadian, and I dig the Southern accent.

  • I live in Eastern Kentucky and your accent doesnt sound strong at all. (Compared to ours I guess hhahha)

  • This is a perfect example of a North Carolinian accent. I agree with you about our accent being long and slow LOL but it sounds like you are from the triad!

  • What part of NC are you from? I'm from the foothills. People who equate the southern accent with stupidity are confirming what Hermann Rorschach proved back in 1921: we transfer our own beliefs on neutral stimuli. Thus, due to the stereotypes that exist about southerners, our dialects confirm the beliefs others already hold.

  • ahh your accent is strong. where are you from? you sound like my family who live in the foothills. i'm from winston-salem, and don't have a southern accent at all.

  • OMG! I'm from Southern North Carolina too! My accent is very similar to yours! I personally LOVE our accents! :D

  • i'm scottish and I LOVE YOUR ACCENT! haha!

  • I am from Michigan and I definitley noticed you have an accent. Being a Michigander, do you think we have accents?

  • Where in NC are you from?

  • I am from Nottingham in England and I love your accent. I have been researching accents for a book I'm writing and came across your video. Thank you, you have helped me alot. And you don't sound slow!!

    H

    x

  • i've heard the theory that the southrn accent developed a slow drawl because of the hot muggy ass slow days that tend to inspire such speach. Living in North Carolina myself I can see that as plausable. North Carolina is interesting because it is one of the few states that is considered both sub tropical and subarctic. So you get crazy weather all across the state as well as quite a bit of divergence of accent across the state as well. Ever been to the outerbanks? It can be hard to understand em

  • You have a nice accent. I'm near seattle and don't get the opportunity to hear southern accents very often. At least to me there is an endearing quality in the way you sound/talk.

  • I live in North Carolina and have my entire life(: our accents are dying out though :( from all the people in the north comin down. :( grr

  • My mamas side of the family is from N.C and they all sound like that. My dads sides from S.C and it's a little thicker then my mamas side.Truth be told it depends on what area in the state you are from. In charlotte they dnt really sound southern but you go to casar you can hear it. Charlotte and Casar both are in N.C

  • @Hd01C Yeah, I'm not too far from Caser

  • @robman285 Me too. :-)

  • you aint from north carolina

  • @semoserjr Oh ok, lol.. I didn't know that... ( So I have lived a lie my whole life! :) )

  • I've lived in NC my whole life, but I don't really have an accent, and neither does my family that lives here. I'm from the Northeastern part, near the Outer Banks though, and not as many people have thick typical southern accents, because of all the people that move in and out from all over the country; all the families in the Coast Guard and that sort of stuff.

  • NORTH CAROLINA <33333333333

  • Hey, i'm from Southern California and i think you're accent is so sexy. It's a major turn on. Haha, i want a nice southern boy with a thick accent. And as for the "bad rep", California girls get one too, but we're perceived as slutty. Lol. Anyway... i love it :)

  • @mandy101315 Everyone I know classifies Souther Cali girls as stuck up b*****'s but I had a friend from southern Cali at college and she was the sweetest girl I ever knew, we can"t always sterotype people. By the way, thanks for the compliment ;)

  • you sound exactly like my husband! I love being southern :)

  • I live in NC and I Love hearin that thick southern drawl it's comforting

  • Your accent is not that thick at all. You oughta here me! LOL! Your speech is very quick compared to further south. You don't have that "Nowth Care-liiiiiine-uh" type drawl.

  • wow i love a guy with a southern accent and from north carolina mhhhh my home stateYEAH!

  • @roper042098 thank u

  • Prefer South Carolina to be honest. North sounds kind of like somone who'd be on Jerry Springer whereas South is quite gentile and lovely.

  • to me (im aussie) ur accent sounds cool. very laid back and relaxed but not slow :)

  • @mychemicalrelapse Thank yoiu! I really like a Aussie Accent.

  • i 'm from North Carolina and i don't have an accent like yours ... maybe it's cuz i'm black

  • @PIMPMYBO It might make a little difference, but shouldn't too much. I have some black friends and they don't sound too different from me.

  • @PIMPMYBO it's called a "Black-Cent" I got one ( a New Yorker one)

  • i love your accent it dirty (but in a good way ??) better then crappy english one i have anyway

  • I got it Love it and Live in NC :) But my family is from Virgina love it to :)

  • @SaintJennyXD thats probably bc your family isnt from the south. and there's different variations of accents in nc

  • mmmmmm i LOVE a southern accent.... when a guy with a thick southern accent says little lady to me i totally get weak in the knees

  • @elliotsgirl hey there little lady. (hehe)

  • @robman285 oh my gosh, like i can just imagine u saying it lol, you should make me a video of you saying it :P

  • it's cool!!! I'm from GA I have one myself sort of lol so I like southern accents and others too:D

  • I love the southern accent, but then again i've lived in the Piedmont practically my whole life...

  • i like it!!! ☺

  • @robman285 I hope you put up some more vids ;P

  • @Sarahllewellyn i am nc and i luv southern boyz

  • ahhh it's a bit of a shock mate at first but that's just a souhern stereotype, it is quite cool. It's way different from here, no comparison

  • I lost my accent after I lived in New York for a couple years :'(

  • I'm from north Carolina and my accent is a little more southern. Our accent rules:)

  • @PeeWeeKrew Yeah it varies across the state from Mountains, Foothills, Piedmont & Coast.

  • yep, I pretty much sound nothin like dat. I mean, I'm black, but uhh... still

  • i live in northcarolina in the piedmont i love the south and our accents woooo-hoooo

  • i'm from north carolina and i sound like that :D

everyone has to remember that people all over north carolina have different variations on how they talk

i think the southern accent is adorablee(:

  • Comment removed

  • One thing about NC is that there's a lot of variation across the state. It took a long time for the settlers to get from the coast all the way to the mountains, and a lot of influences were developed along the way. Yeah, I'm a native and no, I don't sound like you either. No big deal!

  • Comment removed

  • I'm from Denmark, and when I speak English I don't have a southern accent, but I love your accent. It's nice. :D

  • @SaintJennyXD Im sorry :(

  • @kimmimaroxjuugo thanks!

  • I'm a Greensboro native, our accents more subtle than what people are use to hearing. I find that those who live in the Piedmont, Triangle, Charlotte/Mecklenburg areas, their southern accents are lighter.

  • I love the North Carolina accent!

    I'm irish.

  • @xxxambyangelxxx I love the irish Accent

  • Are you from the west coast? Wilmington, maybe?

Your accent sounds very different from a Piedmont NC, or especially a Mountains NC accent.

  • @gueneveve Im actually from the foothills, which is between the mountains and piedmont.

  • @robman285 I live in Wilkes County this sounds about right

  • yeahhhhh(: im from north carolina 2 (: u sound exactly like my brother hahahaha.

  • I'm from British Columbia, Canada and my girlfriend is from Raleigh but she's been Canad-ized and no offense to the culture or anything, but I don't think a woman southern accent would go too well with me lol

  • i have a scottish accent

  • Im from Canada and I think southern accents are really awesome... I personally would love to have an accent one that I can at least hear since Im sure I have one to those who are not from Canada..

  • im from charlotte nc you sound normal to me :) hehe and im BLACK :)

  • You're right, Southern accents are kind of a love/hate thing. My sister finds Southern accents to be like nails on a chalkboard for some reason. Personally, I love the way you talk! You sound friendly and confident to me. I think pretty much any accent is nice, though. (I'm Canadian, if you're curious.)

  • im from NC too (Clayton) my friend from Texas said that we are more twangy than them lol i personally like my southern accent n urs too! :)
