  • Welk didn't actually do it. He didn't even introduce it. It was on his show, however.

  • I used to play the hell out of this song and damaged a few ears singing along!

  • Spiro who? Oh the V.P. that was guilty of tax evasion in Maryland. Such a credit to this country. Nah!

  • LOL! Legalize! x

  • A great song! For those of you who were born after Nixon resighned, the enemies list was a list of AMERICANS that he and his administration deemed to be against him. It was, and still is, a "badge of honor" to those who were one the list!!

  • Prop. 19 failed. I'm disappointed in you america.

  • i love this son f Agnew

  • STFU and play it already!

  • shut up with your political shit and play it

  • On more than one occasion I have been several tokes over the line

  • @MrBuc128 Me TOO

  • @MrBuc128 three tokes of this and yer way over the line

  • The Nixon administration is the number one reason for the myths and propaganda about marijuana. This lying paranoid criminal associated its' use with the anti war movement and went against the advice of a panel of scientists that he appointed whos findings were that pot was less dangerous than booze. Why do we continue to adhere to the myths fabricated by Nixon the most paranoid president in history?

  • hacks, they did not write this song

  • Comment removed

  • fuck nixon & agnew, i guess that makes me one toke over the line

  • YEAH! FEAR AND LOATHING PLEASE!

  • Sorry, ctv. They were never on the Enemies List. May as well stick to the facts as we know them in our Universe.

  • Sorry, ctv. They never made Nixon's enemy's list. Please try to stick to the known facts of the Universe as we know it.

  • I don't know. I think Lawrence Welk's cover of this song was better.

  • load that bong and pass it around.

  • @DJGomez1016 damn right damn right!

  • @Strontbond ty Strontbond for the reply i love brewer and shipley and i've got ;lots of music. So let us pass that bong along.

  • Brewer and Shipley are from K.C, Missouri, I've met them and of course when my son was popped for possession, His Lawyer said," The drug laws in this country are F***ed and I agree!

  • dude looks like Matthew McConaughey

  • It's okay if I get high, because I'd do what you're supposed to do--sit home and listen to records. But I don't trust others to get high, because they'll go drive somewhere while high and talking on their cell phone while my kid is on his bike in the bike lane.

  • @Lisarata

As I recall it, the pot smokers got busted because they were driving 15 miles an hour, and would sit through a couple of green lights before deciding which way to go. If they had cell phones then it would take half an hour to figure out which button to push, probably parked at the end of a dead-end road somewhere.

  • One toke you poor fool

  • Wait till they see those god damn bats.

  • One toke over the line, gion to hell in a bucket any way at least i'm enjoyin the ride.

  • What's it like out there? I've never been and I'm afraid to go. What is it like to be high?

  • @MrBigrobmjca3 the best feeling in the world man. hard to explain u would have to experience it to see what its like

  • @MrBigrobmjca3 part of being high feels like when you get a great idea. Part of it feels like when a TV show is funny, times ten. Part of it feels like being a little disoriented but not caring. Put them all together, amplify them, and then say goodbye to having a quick, accurate mind and a sharp memory.

  • fear and loathing ♥

  • A PROUD moment in HIPPY history!! "One toke over the line sweet Jesus, one toke over the line!"

  • Did you know that if you rearrange the letters in "Spiro Agnew," you get "grow a penis"

    =D

  • "Waitin' for the train that goes home to sweet Mary & hopin' that the train is on time. Sittin' downtown in a railway station one toke over the line." HAPPY 4/20!!! Smoke up!!!

  • Great stuff most of us would kill for one hit this great!

  • Hey check out my page where I cover these classics.

  • I love taking road trips & riding around in my friend's 1963 VW Beetle while listening to this song. It reminds me a lot of my Dad because his favorite car was the VW Beetle (he owned several of them during his lifetime), & he was usually "One Toke Over The Line". The apple sure as hell didn't fall far from the tree seeing as I'm going to bake in a little while.

  • I met tom a long time ago he hunts and fishes lots in the hills where I used to hang out bobbymercy1

  • Don't tell them about the bats. The poor bastards will see them soon enough!

  • i love coffee mugs

  • I love waking up, making a nice fresh coffee, packing a bong and just sit and relax with this song while staring out into the sky. Such a great feeling. Feels like freedom.

  • it is

  • I love the smell of freedom in the mourning.

  • Yeah........

  • @kendo512 You are absolutely right, wow, what a great feeling...the moment of personal freedom!

  • @kendo512 Beautiful my friend...beautiful!!!!

  • @kendo512 sounds like a plan to me as long as you are not doing open heart surgery that day wink wink

  • @kendo512sounds great, but the problem is many people out there don't like to be free and they want to fuck everybody's freedom too.

  • @0live0wire0 It's a harsh reality but it's our only reality. Enjoy it however you can, my friend.

  • My mom gave me this 45 when I was a kid!

  • ROCK ON!!! Brings back many "happy" memories. ;o)

  • bring them back?

I'm having an experience right now if you know what I'm saying.

  • xarukanox...Wish I could be there to share the experience with you. (I live right behind the police department!) ;o)

  • Why don't you go to a different place?

(I'm a little more fortunate, I live in the middle of the woods!)

    HUZZA FOR ME!

(I just smoked a wee' bit lol.)

  • xarukanox...I'd go to a different place, but I've got too much money invested in my house and (Don't laugh)....my grandchildren are nearby. I'm an aging hippie.

Just remember to be careful and don't get caught. Rock on.

    Peace

  • A nice video of Brewer and Shipley performing all of their hits.

  • yeah, he's stoned

  • alright... yea,... Great.... tt love this..

  • Legalize mary! she didn't do anything to anyone

  • Amen! But seriously, it should be legal!

  • I didn't bother telling him about the bats. Poor bastard will see them soon enough.

We can't park here! This is bat country!

  • See what God did to us man!

  • I really need to be in that state of mind about right now....

  • Cute little song. Obviously it's led to a lifetime of success for these two, here playing a show in the Old Woman's Shoe straight of of Mother Goose's nursery rhymes.

  • Says a man with nothing better to do then comment about them on the internet. I'd explain the irony but it would probably make your tiny head explode.

  • Now where did i put the grass bag?

  • Even Better now.

  • hells yeah, dr. gonzo :)

  • I love it when Raul Duke's attorney turns it to this song driving towards Vegas...

  • The Grateful Dead did it 25 years later? This song came out in 1971, Jerry Garcia died in 1995 so they missed it by a year. Very interesting in any case!

  • CHANGE THE FLAWS IN THE LAWS

  • I don't smoke pot but I do support its legalization. It's incredible that the medical authorities have found pot has some medical benefits for the seriously ill and the terminally ill, but the states and federal governments and law enforcement continue to oppose it being legal, even in those situations. It's time to end the hypocrisy and legalize pot in every state for home use and for medical use.

  • my family agrees...

  • Always loved this song : )

  • Love Lawrnce Welk & Jerry Garcia...Whoooooooo do you love...Hope it's me!! DEAD Forever!!!Wanna be one toke over the line when that FEMA Train comes rolling in....LOL!!!! Peace Out♥ Paula♥

  • classic....and fabulous!

    thanks for the memory

  • lol i remember my buddy after hearing this song.. hes a big jeasus freak, and he was like...is this song about jesus waiting for a train?

  • ОМГ, это же Боярский!!!

  • seriously one of the more beautiful harmonies i've ever heard Not on this this video (though i 5'd it anyway) but on the actual recording of the song the end is beautiful. I know it don't seem like the right word but it's the only one i find fitting.

  • FEAR AND LOATHING, LIKE YOU SAID

  • the first wave felt like mescaline and methadrine.

  • one toke over the line sweet Jesus

  • i love love love love this song sooo much

  • ROLLA MO THESE guys are from here

  • Funny. You can interpret it as a drug song, or as a religious song. But that was the beauty of music back then; it was what you wanted it to be. Lighten up Nixon, please!

  • i'd have to be really stoned to interpret this as a "religious" song....unless we all be praying to the ganga god.

  • Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas

  • Funny story about this, I was 14 years old and I was in the backseat with my first girlfriend, and her mother turned on the radio and this song came on amidst silence.

    It was great.

  • Funny! I was 18 and we didn't blink an eye - goog time.

  • Lawrence Welk was not completely off the target. The song, the original recording at least, really does have a gospel feel.

And the duo singing on the original is so sweet.

  • O_o

I did not know this song was about pot...I still love this song. Great beat.

  • Cool song! Heard it from 70's radio and had to do a little background research about it because of the lyrics :)

  • I gave Spiro Agnew the finger at a parade in 1972!

  • counter-cultures rock dude.

  • wait until he sees these goddamn bats...

  • LMaO!

  • "ONe TOKE, MaN!!!",,,

  • Too much talking, not enough singing.

  • cant they just make pot legal?im sick of hanging around with criminals for it.

  • Fear and loathing in las vegas

    love this song

  • Great song , thanks ! Every time I hear this song it takes me back to that part in Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas where Benicio Del Toro and Depp where in the " Big Red Shark "and Del Toro is blurting out this song rather than singing it cos it is all drunk on the LSD-25. hehe . Thanks again for this ! :)

  • "ONE TOKE, YOU FOOL!!" lmao

  • this is like a private meeting for pot smokers. (If you cant quit, then you can go to heaven with your failures.)

  • Ever Since Grandma saw this on Lawrence welk, its been one of her favorite songs . She plays, sings and dances to it when she treats her cancer sickness, pain and gluacoma!

  • Props to toking grandma! And to think some people with diseases that can be treated with marijuana choose not to, just out of principle.

  • You have to look at the history of medical marijuana. 5000 years we all pretty much agreed it was medicine. Then Anslinger went apeshit on narcotics and it was breifly outlawed in 1920 sumthing. Hemp for victory came about in ww2, and it was good medicine for a few years, until it became bad again in 1939, a move the American Medical Association fought against. Then Propisition 215 came around , and now its medicine again. Damn , that weed is a hard thing to control!

  • i never knew all that stuff.thanks man

  • This is the only explanation for all of the mistakes Barry Obama is making!

  • one toke over the liiiiiine

  • Any of you guys tryed roling a joint out of bible paper? (I did when I was younger.)
