  • Great job mate! You dabble with cinema4d and Nuke plugs?

  • nice...I love these vids....like to see other peoples workflow.

  • Mark:

Thanks to share those secrets, they have been really useful, thanks.

I saw your marine 3D animal, very good, you work with 3dsMax right?

One last question, the background you use is it a pre-made VR? I saw a commercial advertising it in one of your videos.

    Regards

    Gus

  • Hi Gus, I use a mixture of 3dsmax 2009, After effects, Premiere, Photoshop CS4. I made all the backdrops for my VR Studios in 3dsmax myself but in an attempt to give a quality result within a low-budget I've adapted and re-branded my curved wall studio a number of times keeping the screen in the same place. Not only is this quick to do in 3D but also means I can re-use my After Effects screen warps template, which significantly speeds up production - I don't get many weekends off :)

  • Hello Mark:

    Great job, congratulations. Question.

What technique do you use to chromakey? Just post in FCP or something? or do you use hardware solution like Ultimatte?

We are starting a project on a VR studio and we don't know which way to go

    Thanks

    Gus

  • Hi Promedical01

Thanks, I used keylight within After Effects CS4. This is AE's standard plugin for keying and comes as part of the pack.

It's very powerful and rivals hardware based systems as you can set multiple keys for different tones of green.

I have a section on VR studios at my blog. Best of luck with your project.

    cheers Mark.

  • Hello Mark:

I have been following your videos, they are great. Two more questions for you if don't mind.

    -What's your thecnique for capture?

-How do you plan your scripts?

-Do you use any kind of telepront or your talent memories the lines?

    Thanks

    Gus

  • Hi Gus,

I use a Sony HDV Z1 camera for capture, if I'm shooting a presenter for the VR Studio I also turn the camera 90o so I get more pixels across the frame.

I'm not a script writer so I work with my client and their/freelance writers to match scripts and visuals. I often rough-out the flow of the video as sumary bullet-points and give these to the writers as a prompt.

I use a standard 'teleprompt' system projected in front of the camera lens - bets for eyelines. Hope this helps.
