  • Dont dig in potato tops as that will infect the soil with virus and other problems. All potato top should be burnt

  • ...or feed them to your chickens. They love 'em. ;-)

  • thank u so much for this information, i will be planting soon....

  • Barefoot in your garden? Yikes! You must have soles of steel.

  • It is June 22: is it too late to plant potatoes in a container? About how long till the leaves turn and I can harvest?

    Thank you:)

    BOP

  • Not too late. I planted some 1 month ago and about to plant some more. Harvest in about 3 months.

  • Thank you!

I'll plant some now then. I want to try growing one in a container, I've seen some people use a new tall plastic garbage can!

  • That's exactly what I'm using for the ones I will plant this weekend! A new garbage can that's been cleaned well and organic soil.

  • Real survivalists wear long pants over their short pants. That joker must be the.Garden Fairy

  • the bug is a colorodo potato beetle

  • good video, and i also have a question. i went onto this one website that said you should not plant potatoes in the same spot more then once every 3 years, because of disease that could be on your plants may be transfered onto next years spuds. but if they were not infected and were fine would it be safe to plant some there again, or does it matter at all if u plant potatoes in the same spot every year.

  • Its not only disease. By not rotating your crops, the soil is depleted of certain nutrients.

  • can you just add the nutrients back in with feriliser and other things.

  • You can, but it gets complicated adding in fertilizer. This is because most fertilizers are a mix of common nutrients but not specific to each plant so they may not get what they need from the fertilizer. I would move the crop if you can, but if not, using an organic fertilizer in the same place could work.

  • Hi.I doing organic planting going to be year soon.I tried to plant potato few months ago but failed to grow.I'm facing a problems whereby the potato half way grow then turn yellowish color on its leaves just like what I saw in your video.I checked the root and I saw the potato I planted was attacked by some insects that internally after I peeled off its skin. How can I overcome these problems,Do you know? Thanks for helping.

  • I wish my sweet potato had survived before i got to put it into the ground. I could be enjoing some of them in few weeks myself. Now it's too damn hot to get them going.

  • Oh yeah, I love them new putadus. It's so funny, we jes now cooked up a big skillet full with onjuns an green peppers! Yum! BTW, them 'Ladybug-lookin' bugs sound like 'Spotted Cucumber Beetles'. We get them things and they are a pest for sure. We're organically certified so don't spray anything but Safer's Insecticidal soap.... Anyone have a sure-fire organic way to rid yerself of them things?

  • Sure, you just squeeze 'em between you forefinger and thumb.
