The quote from Henry Miller got me to thinking how much of modern science is all about reducing everything to the sum of its parts to understand it. The process loses the sense of the sacred and the sense of wonder in it all. It strikes me that scientists, like Carl Sagan, who had that childlike passion of the mystery are a rare thing in the world today.
