  • this makes me think so much....the beginning is so beautiful. it's just pure art!

  • nice song

  • I <3 Stefan, hes is a babe, I think about him to this song. It is as beautiful as he is.

  • I disliked this video. BwaHaHaHa!

  • @calical22 then why are you listening to it???

  • 7 people need love and are sound deaf..........

  • @theywarnedus

    now 8

  • I didn't think someone human could make a song of this enormous beauty... It is sad and happy at the smae time, human and more than human at the same time... It evokes emotions in me that haven't stired in a llong time. In one word: Amazing.

XD I got all poetic lol

  • 7 people's souls dwell in the abyss...

  • Got into imogen this week. I really love the instrument work on her songs and her style is awesome!

  • take how AMAZING this song is in your right mind then multiply it by 8732897390127902 and add four...

THAT is how amazing it is high.

  • This song surrounds me and ignites my soul.

  • There just is something about this song that just resonates within me, I can't explain why. Not just the lyrics and the vocal elements, but the melody just carries me.

  • sounds a lot like American's Beauty's main theme

  • this is the kind of artist who makes music from her heart.she is music.

i'm a new fan of imogen heap and i listened to each and every single one of her songs. And every song of hers has successfully put me in another dimention where there's just me and my own deifniton of the world.she is music.

  • 4:05 to the 4:40 is the best part of the song (although the whole song kicks ass). I like to think it is about being in love with someone who doesn't love you in return. We all know this pain too well.

  • I love imogen heap´s music it makes me feel alive

  • makes my vagina tingle

  • @CRFxX LULZ WUT?

  • This was the song that was in the Lovely Bones trailer right?

  • No. That was 2-1.

  • @502455fan4Eva wrong

  • What would I do without imogen heaps music? Probably die, so it's good I have it.

  • Every time it snows, I have this song stuck in my head. It's wonderful!

  • I love the mood of this song. It sounds like abandonment and freedom at the same time, and the conflict that a character would feel upon experiencing both. It sounds like hope in spite of desolation.

    *bricks self* Quit playing pyschologist.

  • amen.

exactly what I felt the first time I heard this.

  • @AniRemi wow well said! i totally agree! :) i am doing a duet to this song and were doing a good vs evil type thing and i love the way you described the song!

  • @AniRemi what a great way to describe something! PHEW!

    swept me off my feet!

  • this stuff is worth...it does give u a feel of winter

  • does it ever.

  • this songs good. not her best song but good. i like imogen (u know wat i mean by like)

  • maybe they really meant "chills". don't correct people on your interpretation of a word.

  • thanks! lol

  • her music gives me chills. good stuff.

  • Her music belongs in a film soundtrack, preferably moody experimental asian (Japanese or Korean) cinema.

  • Luurverrllyy.

  • Shivers smile shivers smile XD! I love this song

  • i heard this song for the first time yesterday and ive heard to about 100 times since then.... i cant stop listening!

  • DITTO

  • avec toi pb

  • Imogen Heap always finds a way to pull at my heart strings. She has such a gift with words, and there are always so much meaning behind her songs. She's brilliant.

  • I lvoe this song, but I'm curious; is this about global warming?

Black canvas, revolove within, fragile earthware cracks in the tempurature.

Not the whole song, but these aprts seem to be. But that's probably just me.

  • Ohh, and also,,

I have an overactive imgaiantion, and I imagine an animation to most of my music. I always imagine a lot of nature, moutains, valleys, and rivers with this. It's always cool, and it rains. It's bizzarre. If I imagine a character, they travel. I love my Canvas imginationings. This music makes for great animation xD

  • @IAmWaverly Same here. My mind just takes me places, a lot like you described. Her songs inspire a lot of my art, I would love to animate something to one of her songs someday :]

This song's my new favorite of hers. It's so haunting and peaceful.

  • Earthware and cracks in the temperature refer to ceramics, not geology. Earthware is another name for ceramic goods, and often, if put in the kiln (furnace) poorly or not made well, the ceramic can crack or even break when being baked. They're basically both artistic metaphors. What they're about, though, is more difficult to say. The rest of the song doesn't seem to fit with global warming... anyway, her songs tend to be more personal than that, if that's anything to go by. Who knows but her?

  • SilverAlchemist: Your statement is very much explanatory, and, well, not wrong. However, if by the global warming, you meant someone else mentioned, I don't see much. I get she's talking about something she struggles to keep together, however, this can in fact interpret something referring to her personal life itself, maybe it's a romantic story, or suicide, depression, etc. Or, when referring to cracks, the withering of earth, when you want to think about Earth issues, I guess. Nice point though

  • Yes, by global warming, I was referring to something IAmWaverly said above. I don't think the song really has to do with that at all. I read somewhere that Imogen said most of her songs come from personal experience involving family, friends, or boyfriends. I'm pretty sure this one is similar. What the exact topic is, however, is much more of a mystery. Suicide and depression is an interesting correlation, though - I hadn't thought of that one.

  • Georgous, georgous, georgous!!

  • I love it

  • such a beautiful song

  • such a unique voice! im a drum & bass lover myself.. but imogen keeps me intact with this sort of music

  • the answer to your question is that this is pure beauty in form of music.

  • no i was going ??? bcause someone said they said he got into this from drum n bass.... the high contrast remix, and yes :-) imogen heap put so much energy and emotion passion and everything into a single song and ussally based on a true story i love them :-)

  • hahaha, oh sorry then ! and yeah I totaly agree... everything she does is unique <3

  • Yeh I listen to Heavy Metal mainly! But sometimes its nice just to calm your music down! : )

  • I love to hear how Imogen Heap grows as an artist. Simply beautiful.

  • I could listen to this while driving in country road with trees and greenery while the suns is going down!! and the windows cracked

  • she never stops surprising me... all of her songs are so original, so different, special, REAL... I've been listening to her for two years now and she's my angel of music. There's just no one like her! Imogen, you're my inspiration and roul model, you're music is my life<3

  • She never seems to stop impressing and giving a new feeling like you've just discovered her music again, I like that.

  • If I was to ever to take ectasy again think I would listen to this album all threw the roll. Such a amazing album it almost puts your mind in another world.

  • Stoner rock? How? This is alternative.

  • Been waiting so long for this to be out YAY!

  • Love it! Love her! Tidal and FTH are my other 2 faves on this release, but all good. For those new to her (miniFriis et al.) check out Speak for Yourself as well- also a wonderful CD (her previous), as is her work with G.S. on Frou Frou (Details)- more most excellent work! You can find a lot of it here too, but great to have the CDs in the car stereo as well, and she greatly deserves our support in buying her work, IMHO. Thanks Immi!

  • Hauntingly beautiful. Check out the full video on her myspace page and the url on mikeklassen's more info and Subscribe box.

  • you cant hear the deep bass in the song until its blasting from your bedroom's speakers.

  • wow. why haven't i heard of imogen before now?!??!? she amazing !!!!!! o:

  • ahhh this song is A-mazing! love the intro ... .so atmospheric... i didnt think she could beat her old tuff but damn! She has!

  • this song sounds like it's leaning more towards 'cant take it in' , i love the feel to it :)

  • What a gorgeous song. Maaan, I love Immi.

  • Love it, really good

  • I really enjoy everything about this song. Extremely well composed and absolutely beautiful!

  • i'm so excited for August 25th!

first day of high school +

Imogen Heap's new album, Ellipse(!!!!) +

    Ingrid Michaelson's new album, Everybody

I'm definitely most excited for Ellipse, though. :D

  • First day of college for me. :)

  • God.. high school it could be best days of your life or waste days of your life.. for me it was like a sweet dream

  • The song tis great, but i saw the video and i dont like it.

  • i agree, the video was a bit of a dissapiontment but the song makes up for it. its briliant!

  • haha i just thought, it would be really great if at the very end, the artist turned around and went

"oh FUCK!! I forgot the paint!"

  • LOL.... I agree with the part that i wish they would have atleast showed Imogens face at the end, she's such ba lovely person ;)

  • it's not her in the video and even if she should have shown her face at the end, I don't think she would have had time to be part of the video in the artic cycle (or wherever this video has been shot). I guess it's a shame !

  • im in looooooove... i knew she wouldnt disapoint with the new album ;)

  • WOW simply amazing

  • This is too good! So incredibly well arranged and beautiful

  • Imogen has a divine voice, and her music is amazing, this song is specific is fantastic.

Can't wait for the new album! ;)

  • addictive

  • it's a little slow but it's good

  • Oh God.. she's lovely.. Simply lovely.

  • I can NOT stop listening to this song! And yes you are right...her fans can get a bit obsessive about her genius. We can't help it, she's amazing!

  • amazing song.

  • Is it just me or are all Imogen fans obsessed to the point of ridicule with her music. I don't think I've ever met someone who just kinda liked her...

  • Sadly, you either love her or hate her... but I'm one of the ones who loooooveee her. (:

  • this song at first I listened to it and I didn't like it but as I listened to it more and more I liked it I really didn't care for the video I maybe just don't understand it

it was the same with first train home I wasn't sure if I liked it or not but I love them =]

  • I don't think it's all that sad. I can't imagine being mildly interested in her music. She's a wonderful addiction. : )

  • you can't just kinda like her it's not rihanna or lady gaga or whatever pop tart we can hear today she's pure genius and unique i agree with you we're all obsessed by her :D

  • afraid you're right !!! lol

only discovered (well , rediscovered) her a few weeks ago and already i've watched every single one of her video blogs and the only music i've listened to for weeks has been her and frou frou !!

  • i was like... OH MY GOSH!

  • I love this song. I've been looking forward to it most out of all of the new album tracks!!!

And it totally exceeded my expectations. <3

  • very unique music...Undeniably Creative...

Gifted woman....Heap deserves a number 1 hit single and album! :D

can't wait for the rest of the magical "Ellipse"!

    :)

  • Love it..

  • Thanks for putting this up. I can't get the msn site to maintain streaming so I'm thrilled to get to hear the song here.

  • Amazing song, can't wait for the album to come out!

I'm a big fan of Imogen's and really like her old stuff, but this new track is something else! :)

  • This has become my favorite Imogen song the instant I heard it. Bumped up on my list. FANTASTIC! <3

  • She ceases to amaze. She is the definition of GENIOUS! I love Imogen Heap. I love Canvas... I can't wait til August 25th. I'm so excited.

  • Amazing song! Beautiful instrumentation and chilling vocals... Thanks Immi! Can't stop listening to it!

  • Im new to Imogen, and this song just took my breath away.

  • this is a very brilliant song. I wonder if Zoe Keating plays the instrumental...

  • it's not zoe keating, sadly. another wonderful cellist plays the instrumental, whose name, i believe, is ian burdge

  • Oh no... the release of first train home disabled me for long enough. Now along comes another song that I will have to listen to a couple hundred times.... I'm not going to get anything done for a week... oh well : )

  • Love the minimalist and eastern influences. Love the time signature and the vocals rhythm. The guitar is phenomanal and the piano cuts through like the ice in the video. Canvas, A-Ha and Bad Body Double are the 3 I was looking forward to just from the 12-second snippets and such, and I'm so happy Canvas worked out so well. The video is a masterpiece too. How amazing would this be to see on MTV and VH1 every day?

  • this. this right here is gold. and it makes me cry of the beautiful sound she makes with her fingertips against the piano keyes

  • I love Imogen Heap with all of my heart. I've just listened to this song for the first time, and immediately made an account just to comment this song! The video for it is just amazing. Her, as well. I am a huge fan, and probably one of the bigger ones (:

  • yes, she is an audio goddess.

  • AH - Sorry I thought I was being mysterious!!!

  • glad you like it :) not being funny but... for those who haven't seen the video... this is kind of a spoiler image no?? what about a nice mystery one? :) x really really glad people are into this song. This is in my fave top 3 on the album xxx

  • if i may ask ... what are your top favorite three on the album?

  • Tidal, FTH, and The Fire for me! All brilliant though!

  • I'd say, "Tidal" (would love to hear an acoustic version of that one!), "First Train Home" (because I experienced one of the best moments of my life with that song playing, and "Half Life", since I can really relate to it. My all-time favourite's still Headlock - love all the little beeps and bells and harpy things! And its lyrics are very profound. What are yours?

  • Listen to it on a good pair of headphones - almost a totally new song.

  • all i can say is, this is gorgeous. Its so strange to finally hear the full version of this and FTH after so long of only hearing little snippets and making my own version in my head. its so different from what i'd imagined, but so much more amazing.

  • OMG!!!!!!!!! im sooo exited! this is great- roll on august 24th

  • I hate to say that when I first heard it, I wasnt that excited, but GOD I cant stop listening to it now! Im in love!

  • This song is too amazing. I can't wait for the rest of the album.
