Brother Eli made a good parallelism when he said that when a wicked man dies, his death is not yet a punishment. He is stopped from doing more wickedness. He will be judged in the judgment day. Same with a man who is to go prison. He is stop to do more bad things.The punishment will come after he is tried in court and found guilty. In same manner, the people in the old testament were not yet judged. They were only imprisoned. Death is not punishment. They will be judged in the judgment day!
