I mean almost movies are done with straight cuts (no transitions) so it honestly doesn't matter which NLE you use. It's all a matter of ease and workflow. I've been using Vegas professionally since version 4 and love it, plus I 've been teaching others to use it for over 10 years (even though I get crap from a lot of my buddies who swear by FCP).

Does anyone have a problem with double audio? :| I'm doing a project for english and I have Johnny Cash Hurt, but I have audio I need to put over it. When I do it glitches/lags/messes up. How can I stop it? Help! ):
@doodlezxB Double audio usually because you accidentally made a copy of the audio (usually by posing the control key while you moved the audio before). Try dreading the song (the audio event) to another place on your timeline. If you do that and there is another copy under it, delete the one that you moved.

@TheDracula1995 Pretty much any video you can think of... Mpg, mpeg, mp4, avi, mov (quicktime)and tons more... the only ones you can't do are flash videos (flv, and swf) but there are conversion websites like zamzar that you can use to change them over to something you can use.

Hi my friend I have a problem I was wondering if you could help me with. Ive made a video that has footage from two different movies on a time line that mixes them up. kinda like the terminator vs robocop that you can view on you tube. But my problem is that one of the video is wide screen and the other is full screen. So because of this you can notice when i switch from one video to the other. Is they any way I can make them all one size with out having to start my project again and format 1st

So if you are converting avchd say 2 hours to say AVI, it will take you about 18 hours to convert... But if you convert the .mts avchd using convertxtodvd... it will convert in 8 or 9 hours. Thats 2 hours of HD footage in half the time of vegas.
Of course if you want to edit then you can and then convert in vegas. The other thing? Shoot in SD in a high bit rate. or get an I7 laptop and your rendering will be ok.
But with my tips dual core and convertxtodvd you are fine. Enjoy
Its not real time. Heres some tips. Im using a dual core laptop.
Start vegas, open task manager go to vegas in list right click, set affinity and then choose 1 of your cores to use vegas.
This will stop your lappy freezing or shutting down.
Heres a better tip for people using avchd hd footage. Only record what you want to burn to dvd. Start recording then stop so what you burn is what you have in the files.
Then go get convertxtodvd and drag the files into that and convert! saves hrs
first of all the ad is as confusing as hell so why would i want to buy the software if i had to look up words just to get the ad ??? it definatly wont be an easy program ( ive used adobe premire- not pro ) and thats confusing enough ... so idk
sony vgegas is actually really rubish i put in a HD video made by fraps (1600x1200) and it goes down to 480p so adobe after effect is actually the best program out there u can edit every frame add kwl effects make kwl intros and even fusi8on from opticpredator uses it :P
@HALONATOR3 You shoyld check the properties for the projct. You probably have it set to 480p. Either that you you rendered it to 480p. Vegas works with video up to 4K, whick is twice the resolution of the red camera (and higher than 1920p)
This program, to me, is crap. It's not userface friendly. You can't adjust the speed and the video itself comes out grainy. If you're not use to making or editing a movie this will make you pull out your hair. But then again it's only my opinion.

crashes on budget pc, so be warn! over all i like it because it packs a bunches of features not found in any other applications. if your goal is to create masterpiece, invest on pc and get this program. @PT7SSS Yeah, you can bring in pretty much any video to edit (except flash) but AVI, MP4 or quicktime from a camera, as well as DVD files, WMV... it's the most extensive list out of any editing software out there.
Download over 300 video and audio editing tools from one SINGLE ftp for free. Just google for Aries-Films and see how many great video plugins, sound effects and programs out there
I only have one Massive probem with this. I took two avi files one was 435mb and the other 127mb So I patched them together and these videos were 1256x72O or sumthin like that and the one I made after when I patch it in the software was 56Ox23O and the quality was shit it was still an avi and the file was 15gb WTF howd it get so big.... any help with that?
@boblob801 They are some huge file there pal. If they were in HD (720 or 1080) that massive size you got makes perfect sense. Don't render them in HD if they are that big. It's strange though because you said the quality was shit hmmm. How long was the video all up?
@boblob801 You can render to different sixes by choosing the templates under where it says avi. You probably did uncompressed which sometimes "blows up" the file size so that no quality is lost. Try one of the other templates to find a file size/resolution that works for you.
If you have a high performance PC, your video can be rendered within 40 seconds. It also depends on what type of quality you wish to render in. Sony Vegas is awesome.
If you added a effect, try see how much the difference is. Normally you dont see that. Why can i render a video in no time in adobe, when i almost can't with sony vegas? ... It has to be the program - not the computer.
Adobe hasn't got all those extra background operations going on. With Sony Vegas, it's a less restrictive program and uses a bit more power and CPU. It's the computer. The effects, transitions, aspect ratios all change after the raw file has been manipulated in the program. There are also many rendering options unlike Adobe so it takes perhaps longer. But for me it doesnt take long

Can i get things done in a fairly quick manner without too much trouble? I've onlu used WMM and Movavi but WMM is very limited and Movavi is more unstable than a tight rope walker.
I'd say Sony Vegas is probably THE best video editing software out there which is both capable of doing anything you see in those big-budget Hollywood flicks as well as user friendly in terms of usage. I do agree - moving from WMM to this is a huge step and it might take an entire week or two before you get the feel for things but most the stuff is straight forward. It already comes with well over 60 video effects, transitions etc. and you can make your own. You can render in any format
ok, sorry for the aggresive comment. I don't know how good sony vegas is, i use Adobe Premiere because i think it's easier to use for me.
Tipp: I use always the output options for a H.264 movie with 30 fps and a resolution of 1280x720 in an mp4 container. This works well as you can see in my vids.

So if you are converting avchd say 2 hours to say AVI, it will take you about 18 hours to convert... But if you convert the .mts avchd using convertxtodvd... it will convert in 8 or 9 hours. Thats 2 hours of HD footage in half the time of vegas.
Of course if you want to edit then you can and then convert in vegas. The other thing? Shoot in SD in a high bit rate. or get an I7 laptop and your rendering will be ok.
But with my tips dual core and convertxtodvd you are fine. Enjoy

Its not real time. Heres some tips. Im using a dual core laptop.
Start vegas, open task manager go to vegas in list right click, set affinity and then choose 1 of your cores to use vegas.
This will stop your lappy freezing or shutting down.
Heres a better tip for people using avchd hd footage. Only record what you want to burn to dvd. Start recording then stop so what you burn is what you have in the files.
Then go get convertxtodvd and drag the files into that and convert! saves hrs

sony vgegas is actually really rubish i put in a HD video made by fraps (1600x1200) and it goes down to 480p so adobe after effect is actually the best program out there u can edit every frame add kwl effects make kwl intros and even fusi8on from opticpredator uses it :P

@HALONATOR3 You shoyld check the properties for the projct. You probably have it set to 480p. Either that you you rendered it to 480p. Vegas works with video up to 4K, whick is twice the resolution of the red camera (and higher than 1920p)

This program, to me, is crap. It's not userface friendly. You can't adjust the speed and the video itself comes out grainy. If you're not use to making or editing a movie this will make you pull out your hair. But then again it's only my opinion.

crashes on budget pc, so be warn! over all i like it because it packs a bunches of features not found in any other applications. if your goal is to create masterpiece, invest on pc and get this program. Adobe is second on my list. Power director comes 2nd on my list. It's a shame that a pc has a louzy video editor (movie maker? that can only support a few files and crash in no time, while Apple with its IMAC, it gives you a pretty cool free editing software. Come on Mr. Rich man, B Gates !

@PT7SSS Yeah, you can bring in pretty much any video to edit (except flash) but AVI, MP4 or quicktime from a camera, as well as DVD files, WMV... it's the most extensive list out of any editing software out there.

I only have one Massive probem with this. I took two avi files one was 435mb and the other 127mb So I patched them together and these videos were 1256x72O or sumthin like that and the one I made after when I patch it in the software was 56Ox23O and the quality was shit it was still an avi and the file was 15gb WTF howd it get so big.... any help with that?

Check the render options with all video editing software, you will have to check the settings to some extent.

@boblob801 They are some huge file there pal. If they were in HD (720 or 1080) that massive size you got makes perfect sense. Don't render them in HD if they are that big. It's strange though because you said the quality was shit hmmm. How long was the video all up?

@boblob801 You can render to different sixes by choosing the templates under where it says avi. You probably did uncompressed which sometimes "blows up" the file size so that no quality is lost. Try one of the other templates to find a file size/resolution that works for you.

Time of render varies from computer to computer.
If you have a high performance PC, your video can be rendered within 40 seconds. It also depends on what type of quality you wish to render in. Sony Vegas is awesome.

If you added a effect, try see how much the difference is. Normally you dont see that. Why can i render a video in no time in adobe, when i almost can't with sony vegas? ... It has to be the program - not the computer.

Adobe is real-time editing program.
Sony Vegas is a non-linear editing tool.
It might not sound a lot but there is.
Adobe hasn't got all those extra background operations going on. With Sony Vegas, it's a less restrictive program and uses a bit more power and CPU. It's the computer. The effects, transitions, aspect ratios all change after the raw file has been manipulated in the program. There are also many rendering options unlike Adobe so it takes perhaps longer. But for me it doesnt take long

Well it depends on what format you render in.
For an MP4 film in Good quality, it should take 5-10 minutes.
If its an HD video, perhaps 20-45 minutes.

@UrbanGamers Thanks for the quick reply. Ah thats not too bad at all i'd be satisfied with those speeds. So overall, what's it like in your opinion? Recommended? It is fairly user friendly to use? Can i get things done in a fairly quick manner without too much trouble? I've onlu used WMM and Movavi but WMM is very limited and Movavi is more unstable than a tight rope walker.

I'd say Sony Vegas is probably THE best video editing software out there which is both capable of doing anything you see in those big-budget Hollywood flicks as well as user friendly in terms of usage. I do agree - moving from WMM to this is a huge step and it might take an entire week or two before you get the feel for things but most the stuff is straight forward. It already comes with well over 60 video effects, transitions etc. and you can make your own. You can render in any format

ok, sorry for the aggresive comment. I don't know how good sony vegas is, i use Adobe Premiere because i think it's easier to use for me.
Tipp: I use always the output options for a H.264 movie with 30 fps and a resolution of 1280x720 in an mp4 container. This works well as you can see in my vids.
