This movie was an insult to Wells. IMO "Things to come" 1936 version is the only movie of his that wasn't butchered for fear it'd inject something the controllers don't want in the GroupThink...

The only good thing about the movie was showing Samantha Mumba in that bead shirt and her singing:-)

@GreenGestalt though this movie was made by one of his grandsons(or some such) I have to agree with you, the Rod Taylor version is somewhat better(in the producing anxiety department) but still also lacking. This 2001 is a bunch of "communion world peace" crap, way to optimistic for us. Iloi are discribed at being unlike us Samantha Mumba is very like us, she would be a fellow time traveler, not an Iloi, they are weak and alien things.

@GreenGestalt I disagree. While the first Time Machine was a great movie, the newer film fleshed them out a bit and didn't overly villify the Morlocks.

Finally, as the great-great-grandson of HG Wells, I think the director of the new movie couldn't have made a better homage to the book than when he actually made the time traveller go further into the future. True, we didn't see the giant crabs or the massive sun, but it was a beautiful presentation all in all. Wells would have been proud.

hey you guys know the producer of the time machine is working on a sequel. It's tentatively called ''the time machine II''. Don't know when it will come out but I hear it's in production. Fell in love with the movie and this is my favorite song in the entire soundtrack. Also one of my favorite movies of all time. Looking foward to the sequel.

being white or another race doesnt matter at all, after all, no matter what color we may appear on the outside we are still human. the paleness (or darkness) of skin is only a matter of geography. most genetics are traced back to africa, and as people started moving north, they needed to be able to absorb more vitamin d from the sun (which eventually meant less melanin). yes, some white people have done atrocious things, but so have people of other races. you cant really judge a race...

Welles was in fact making a social commentary, that sooner or later western society would destroy itself. Eerily enough, at the end of the movie, the good professor sees what the world will be like if the Morlocks are not destroyed, sometimes I wonder if Welles was in fact disgusted with his own race.
