she's really good i mean she got a 14 on beam! i think she just needs to practice this routine a bit more i mean she has awesome potential and she rly is a great gymnast i think shes just not like rly rly rly used to this bars routine :P
@ASPaez1965 She didn't make elite at this competition...she only competed bars and beam and not AA. Despite the bars falls, she got a 14.0 on beam! She'll definitely make elite very very soon. :)
@lch5135 Yup, I agree. It's not a biggie not making it this year. She's young and has plenty of opportunities to make it in the future. Better to hold back and focus on health and proper technique than make elite before she's ready and have sloppy execution. I've seen others with that problem.

Thank you for putting this clip on you tube - I think it is really important for the younger kids to see that it IS all very tough and that not even their heroine is perfect all the time. Wow - we SO admire Nica as a gymnast .....
@sunshinecoast7 Glad you liked it! I think her attitude is the most important part of the video...you can see her huge smile at the end, despite the falls, and that's what I so admired about this. That, and the fact that she didn't let the falls get to her on her next event...she had the best beam routine in her session!
@lch5135 That shows she has a tremendous support system around her. Some kids have parents who push so hard, they lose the joy in their prospective sports, but Nica probably realises she has your support no matter what and I think that allows space for her to smile and be such a sweet girl no matter what. Besides, winning isn't every-thing. You have to take falls in order to learn from them. I'm not even a gymnast (former figure-skater) and have respect for your daughter !! =)

She's actually not my daughter - I was there covering the meet and just happened to be at the bars while Texas Dreams was competing - but I do know that her parents and coaches really look out for her and try to keep the sport fun rather than frustrating, which is why she had such a great attitude here despite the falls.

@ASPaez1965 She DID make Elite. She recently placed 1st on beam at Covergirl, with a 15.05! And you will see her in the jr. session at VISA!!!!! :D
