I'm having the same surgery on the 27th. I'm nervous and scared but I know I'll be fine. Thanks for uploading this :) Video's like this really give me more confidence
@vintagehorses its fine just be glad you r knocked out and they give you some good drugs afterwards... lol i had mine done back in january... and you hardly remember any of it =] i found out exactly a year ago i had it my curves were 65 and 70 degrees... but they are all fixed and i am now able to do most of my normal stuff.. GOOD LUCK!!! :)
I live in Sydney, Australia and had the surgery last year in August, 2009. I found out I had Scoliosis in June. Those 3 months were apparently the fastest they had ever put a patient through to the surgery before. I was so lucky to have that sort of privliage. I was in the Operating Room for 6 hours, the Intencive Care Unit (I.C.U) for 3 days and in The Childrens Hospital, Westmead for 7 days. If anyone has ANY questions or just wants to chat about scoliosis........
ya i had it done like in april...i had a 82 degree rotation it was terrible....but they were able to fix it and get it down to a 14 degree rotation.....the surgeon was awesome....i was 16 at the time......

my degree is at 37 degrees and i have to get the charleston night brace on the twenty seventh of this month which my doctor hopes to get my spine straight again.
I had my scoliosis surgery 2 weeks ago and one day, July 13 2009. I found out I had scoliosis in September 2008. It all went really fast. I was wearing a brace for 6 months and that didnt help at all
My degree before my surgery was 46-48 degrees. I had my surgery at Childrens Hospital Of Philadelphia with Dr. Flynn and was in the hospital for 6 days. When I found out I needed surgery I was scared, nervous, cried, and it was always on my mind
As i started watching videos of this, I scared myself even more. So for people who are having surgery I would recommend not to watch anymore of these videos
But, As the surgery kept getting closer and closer I got more nervous but the day of I held strong for my family, and knew that I was going to be ok because They were there for me when i needed them the most. All you need to do is find a doctor that is good, done this many times before, and one that you trust. Then you just leave it all to the doc
I am now at home recovering with many visitors and each day im getting better but still hard a lot but It will be better soon.(Hopefully)Always no that there is always someone who is looking out for you every step of the way. Everyone who is getting surgery, try not to worry so much even though its hard. Like Torie said you have to trust in the lord. and just hang on. If you believe in him and that he will take care of you and pray for help then you will be fine. You will be ok.
Heyy! Bouncingmadlaura96, Don't worry, This is nothing to worry about, I had this surgery 2 months ago today and you just have to stay strong! It will be tough but keep motivated, if you have any questions you can email my youtube email and ask me! Good Luck! Stay Strong! God Bless! :)

Thank you so much for sharing this...I had this surgery a few years ago and have such few pictures and no video on it. It was great for me to see this and remember all I went through. Hope you're doing great- it's a long recovery isn't it!?
Hey Torie. I think its awesome that you made this video and posted it. It's really helping me overcome my nervousness of the surgery. I can't even imagine the pain that will happen. My brother had surgery on his legs in 2005, and said morphine didn't even touch his pain. He's really freaking me out. I hope I can be as strong as you when going through this. =) You are my inspiration.
hey!:) Umm I just wanted to say that your video really encouraged me. I'm having scoliosis surgery march 16. I have a 55 degree curve. And I am really nervous about it and it just helped alot to be able to see how you got though all of this. Thank you so much for making this video.
Good luck on your surgery. I'm getting surgery on March 23rd. My spine is above 50, but I don't think its as high as yours yet. I got tested 4 months ago and went through all the MRIs and everything. You're not alone through this =) I'm pretty nervous too. The days just seem to be flying by, don't they? It's really great to see the good things that people say about the surgery though. It seems that it has a really good affect on their lives. I hope I can be as strong as them through this.
i had my surgery on jan 20!!!! i wasn't nervous because they gave me this medicine where you feel care free and a bit goofy :) my mom said i was goofy. but i dont remember! before i knew it, i was in my room and didnt feel much pain :)
hi i'm getting surgery this july and i was wndering like how was it ..did u ever feel pain or anything and what was the recovery like i would love to know..cu im pretty scared :(
Of course you feel pain. I had the surgery in march, and it was pretty much painful for a month. But the pain resides after two weeks to a minimal throbbing.
