The version of Jewel is truly amazing, but for me nobody sings it better than the great, beautiful and legendary Nina Simone, because for me black american people have got the best voices for jazz. Almost all black american singers have got silver and splendid voices.
Thanks again remase! I saw Jewel earlier this month and as we waited in line the crowd was talking about how thankful we are to you for your rare posts!
Interesting take on a great old song. I'm not sure I really like it but hats off to Jewel for being a little...or a lot different. However no one sings this song like Frances Langford....A performance for the ages.
@kgchris I know imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, but this, to me, is Jewel's admission that she has nothing of her own to contribute to this song. I could be wrong, but I'm guessing Jewel didn't realize a lot of people are familiar with Nina's recording of the song, and so might mistake her (Jewel) for a jazz singer.
well... it was nice of her to try. It shows she respects those breautiful songtresses of the past. This is ok, just ok. I't not bad. It's just ok. She's still good at her thing. But I really like what that piano and guitar are doing. Oh Gosh. That's not bad at all.
This is surprising. I didn't know Jewel liked jazz. Lyric should be "forgetting with somebody else," but all in all she does a good job. Maybe she should get a swing band and switch genres.
I've never been a Jewel fan, but this is nice

Was she drunk? What's her excuse for this disgraceful mess?

Ruth Etting was the original singer of this song, and I liked it. Very old fashioned. But Nina Simone's version is superb, too. Jewel is okay.

They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, and Nina Simone would be very flattered.

Jewel can't really be put in a genre .. she likes a lot of stuff and different styles that you don't hear on her cd's.
