Well, I'm assuming they come from a culture where if they'te under 21 their daddies will bust their ass for smoking or drinking. It's a much bigger deal for them. It' kind of sad though that they 'look up to' the smoking and drinking culture more accepted in the west and so feel cool emulating it, trying smoking because it seems so forbidden and exciting. Come on, you choked and felt dizzy the first time too, and I also bet you also thought it was badass at the time.
