  • OH YA!!!

  • this guy was insane I don't think I have ever seen a drummer like him and I seen them in Calgary about 28-30 years ago and In Kamloops 3 months ago but He was retired by then But hes was the best in his day's which was a long time. my hat goes off to him ...Cheers and thx for the video

  • Jerry always did the best drum solos, all show offy rolls and crashes just like the people want to see, not pretentious thematic stuff. And the guy just POUNDS his drums. Never seen anybody with that kind of power. He made April Wine live. With their new drummer, they are nowhere near as good live. Mercer made the rhythm section swing and wallop. And he never lost a bit of ability even at the age of 70 for god's sake.

  • This guy F**n rocks, saw him do this live at festival of friends in Hamilton Ont.

  • His kit has a real nice sound too.

  • What a bad ass!

  • Frickin' EHHHH!

  • HOLY crap!!! I hope I can move like that when I'm almost 70!!! Fme

  • I wonder what Justin Peeper will be doin' when he's 68......

  • Hard to believe he's 68... big man is laying it down here!

  • Jerry was such a big part of April Wine they should of called it quits when he left. Now its pretty much the Myles Goodwyn solo band.

  • and that's when he was 68, should seen him go when he was much younger. To this day he's still one of the best drummers i've ever seen

  • YEAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY JERRY!

  • He Is a god

  • man he still kicks ass its amazing

  • Jerry Mercer for President!

  • He's like my granpa!

    I love him!

  • Mercer..Ian Paice(Deep Purple)..original and longevity..can't beat that..

  • cut it out you shitheads! stop with the who is better bullshit! They're ALL great!

  • bunkest shit in the fucking world ass has better beats mike from dream theatre the shit this guy is a fucking joke

  • this dude is over 70 yrs old and portnoy isnt worthy of holding his bag. the joke is you ;]

  • This man is a fucking god, I love the beat of the solo! Can't imagine why he isn't up there with Carl Palmer or John Bonham.

  • Something I have never seen before, what with the whistles and microphone chanting. A very different drum solo, and a great one. I hope I am in that great of shape when I am 68 yrs. old. YOU ROCK, MERCER! Play on, my brother!

  • i saw a solo from this guy in Cowinsville (near Montreal. Crazy good.

  • I was lucky enough to see this show...wow.. I first saw April Wine in Kingston in the early 70's.. He did the fantasic single hand roll then

  • holy shit!!!!!!!

  • April Wine is my favorite rock band! They truly hold a VERY special place within my heart! From the first moment I ever heard them, I was hooked! How could one not be? If they are ever within driving distance,I try make it out to see their FABULOUS performances! Jerry's solos were ALWAYS the highlight of their shows! Happy Retirement Jerry! You'll always be the KING OF DRUMS!!! With love, thanks and best wishes to you Jerry, for you truly will be missed.....Love,The Sign Lady.....

  • Thank You Jerry Mercer for 35 years of kickass Drumming with April Wine...Enjoy your retirement.

  • I seen A. Wine in the 80's in Chicago. Great to see they're still out there. Go Jerry!!

  • Neil does the same thing he does throw in some beats that he uses in other songs, Neil's good but ive ever seen him rock a whistle like Mercer. Both are great drummers from my point of view.

  • this was a sick concert i got front row for this

  • that is fucking crazy shit!

  • santa got skill, and my respect to the fullest. guy can crack wallnuts with his fourarm.

  • Kick ass solo

It'd be nice if the rest of the band looked like they gave a shit though. They all look completely bored

  • if I'm not mistaking, this is when they did a free show in Ajax, Ontario

  • This was a free show April Wine did in Kingston Ontario for the launch of 96fm. Trooper did a free show last summer for 96fms 1st birthday bash. ( check out my videos from that show too.)

  • nah... i was at the free show in ajax... it was alot darker when he played his solo in ajax

  • Very impressive, Mr. Mercer!

  • Jerry Mercer kicks ass. April Wine kicks ass. You guys make Rock N Roll fun. Went to the Arrowfest show in Houston. Great time.

  • he is great

  • i saw april wine in the late 90/s they still rocked!!!!

  • that night was pretty cold! They were great tho!!!

  • great drumming and nice solo.

  • Slipknots drummer is not even half as good as jerry but wat about Neil Peart? I think Jerry is better but some people thing otherwise...Neils solos are just too.....boring. I saw Jerry's solo on April 16th 2008 in Saint John at the Imperial Theatre and it was amazing! Jerry is the best in my books!

  • No two drummers are alike and there is no such thing as "Worlds greatest". Jerry and Neil are unique and have their own style. Neil is precision noise and Jerry is sheer power. I've seen both live and admire equally.

  • i was there too, the drum solo was tight.

  • Saw them last year, an Gerry played a wicked drum solo. He's 78 years old! Keep on rocking Gerry!

  • Ummmmmm... I agree that he's awesome but..... he's actually 69 years old. Not to mention that he also fought testicular cancer at one point.

  • it was a great concert i was there too

the only thing i did like was they played some of the songs too fast

  • He is great! I mean Great! Saw him in St Louis when they was lead band for Styx. Jerry's solo was better than whats his names from Styx!

  • Jerry is not a bad drummer. If you want to hear some GREAT drumming check out the master - Buddy Rich (1970 video) - THAT is drumming!

  • so i just saw april wine live like 20 minutes ago...and this guy was spectacular! beats the hell out of tommy lee hanging from the roof!!

  • awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • sorry but after watching jerry at the age of 69 or 70 right now. Slipknots drummer can just go away cause hes not good. Jerry is a beast!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i agree with you all the way and im not jokeing! jerry mercer is probably one of the best drummers in the world...slipknots drummer is not even close to this guy and never will be!

  • i agree with you all the way and im not jokeing! jerry mercer is probably one of the best drummers in the world...slipknots drummer is not even close to this guy and never will be!

  • i agree with you all the way and im not jokeing! jerry mercer is probably one of the best drummers in the world...slipknots drummer is not even close to this guy and never will be!

  • HEY !! ITS SANTA CLAUS !!!!

  • Best damn drum solo!

  • KISS should have hired this guy to replace Peter Criss! LOL

  • Did you know this guy is 68 freakin years old

  • It's enough time to learn how to play!

  • it still freaks me that at his age he is still this good!!

  • i saw this whole concert in my hometown

  • The greatest drummer ever. Made me grin from ear to ear

  • jerry mercer reste un exellent batteur, meme avec le temps!quelle année cette vidéo?

april wine reste un groupe de hard rock antique, qui fait encore vibrer mes oreilles!

  • I seen April wine in kingston a few years ago.. Yep gerry is one awesome drummer.. makes it look so easy.. MY wife could not believe the solo he put on..

  • Jerry's drum rolls with the flaming sticks. Now that was interesting.

  • I'm continally amazed year after year that Jerry can still play like that. He's incredible. One of the most entertaining drummers ever! Always loved the one handed stuff he does at the end.

  • GO JERRY GO! This was one of the most interesting drum solos to watch (I was there) and I thought "Wow, this guy has drive. He looked about ready to quit somewhere in the middle, but he kept going." He is a great inspiration! :) thanks for posting the video!

  • I saw AW last summer and holy shit that was by a significant margine the best drum solo I've ever seen live. That last bit with the drum roll is absolutely insane. Jerry Mercer rocks!

  • I WAS THERE

  • AWESOME!!!

Jerry's one class act indeed. Thank you so much for posting a recent solo! 5 stars all the way :)
