  • Now I know why they do those la choy commercial with real fire. It dangerous!

  • Fortune cookies with dirty messages? I SHALL CHOOSE TO IGNORE THAT.

  • The La Choy Dragon must be extinct, that chow mein is crap.

  • Looks like a bunch of sickos to me. lmfao!

  • Poor Rowlf

  • Poor Mert

  • Poor Delbert

  • THAT WAS SLPURGE THA MUPPET @ :10 I KNO MY MUPPETS (FOR THA MOST PART)

  • Yup, seeing a frog get eaten by a monster and piano and then blown up is pretty hilarious, right?

  • Howdy.

  • The rocket explosion in this is taken from an Oscar-nominated short film ("Time Piece") that Henson had done the year before.

  • Howdy

  • @gameproartist207 Delbert(enraged): WILL YOU STOP THAT!!!!!!!!

  • Howdy

  • Howdy

  • Howdy

  • La Choy still tasted awful. Why was Kermit getting blown up over and over?

  • That was Nine Kinds of Awesome.

  • Howdy.

  • 2:05 I Love the Rarity!!!

  • HOWDY.

  • Best ever.

  • i saw the very first one on the dvd. But frankly that whole first episode of snl was so horrible - the one with george Carlin hosting - I never watched it again.

But yeah, something about the monsters wife getting her period.

  • "Looks like a bunch of sickos if you ask me"

I never knew the Muppets did mature humor. I had always remembered them for sesame street, fraggle rock etc..

  • Have you ever seen any of the Muppet "Land Of Gorch" skits from the very first season of Saturday Night Live? They're even more adult than these commercials!

  • Henson must have had a warehouse full of explosives!

i love this early stuff! So violent! So funny!

  • I'm buying some la choy today!

  • Howdy!

He Said It Said 10 Times!

  • "WILL YOU STOP THAT!" lmao

  • I had the honor to see Jane Henson Speak at the RISD not long after the death of her husband Jim.

This is one of the things that she showed us along with a lot of footage from the early days.

  • Fun.

  • Does anyone have any copies of the full length commercials the muppets did for a local Illinois Dairy for KRAML Milk ? I'm pretty sure Rowlf was in them.

  • I like how they didn't include any dumb racist stereotypes in a chinese food commercial.

  • @JHVH1 Chinos cochinos.

  • 0:11 rocks

  • This was actually a 1965 "sales reel", produced by Henson for LaChoy (and corporate parent Beatrice Foods) executives, demonstrating how the "LaChoy Dragon" was going to sell their product during 1965-'66, with examples of several one minute color commercials at the end.

  • Howdy!

    WILL YOU STOP THAT!

  • (Delbert the La Choy Dragon and Rowlf Brawl)

  • Amazing how much sex and violence for a 1966 commercial.

  • ...and at about 5:30 we have the first documented recording of puppet rape.

  • I could SO picture the guys from Mad Men planning over this.

  • Rowlf really needed more lines but it was hilarious.

  • Any more lines than that and they'd hafta pay him for it! XD

  • Well remember: he was a star and the frog...was just monster food to America. :p (well that's how the montage made Kermit look)

  • Yah, I know :D Rowlf was huge, and at the time Kermit wasn't a frog, but a lizard prone to misfortune. He was always the victim of circumstance. And sorta still was as a frog emcee, too!;D

  • Yeah I knew of the "lizard thing" part but it slipped my mind when I wrote that part. It just seemed silly that Rowlf was the star while Kermit felt more like a bit player from the montage...sure bigger than others since he made it to this point in the 60s but really didn't show off his later personality outside a couple sketches at this point.

  • i would love to see all these commercial and making of's committed to a DVD with any other info available.. i love this stuff

amazing when you think w/o Youtube or a similar video sharing site... something like this probably would be near impossible to come by

  • Howdy! WILL YOU CUT THAT OUT!

  • Howdy.

  • Even for 1966 this still made me laugh

  • I mean Jim

  • "Warm, gentle humour!" Your'e a funny man Frank!

  • La Choy Dragon ftw!

  • Wow... i never realized that the majority of his commercials involved explosions... lol!

  • Howdy!

  • This is funny!!

  • Frank Oz Hated, Hated, HATED! that costume!

  • Howdy!!

  • Anything Jim Henson shilled for, I'd buy. This is awesome.

  • ANYTHING IS WORTH IT trying to turn out some really fine commercialing including risking fire.

I'm suprised the CTW even took a chance with him.

  • The Playboy part reminds me of Terry Gilliam!

  • LOL youre right!!!!

  • Heheh. Flames, strangulations and hungry pianos of death. Showbiz was pretty damn tough for the Muppets in the 60s.

  • "How do you prepare twelve hundred boyscouts?"

  • "What do you feed twelve hungry cubscouts?"

  • You don't feed the cubscouts... you feed the dragon...

  • "This is the lovable La Choy Dragon!" LOL
