Last night I saw a high school production of "Beauty and the Beast" and a song in the first act ("Me") sounded familiar. Then I realized that the tune was stolen from the early 1960s surf rock & roll song, "Summer Means Fun" by Bruce & Terry. They should sue Walt Disney!

It's good but you all just copied the choreography of the broadway show...

Unfortunately for the Gaston I had to compare him to Christopher Sieber the entire time. He's a tough act to follow.

The reason why they copied all the original choreography is because they were one of the first community theatres to get the rights from Disney to do this show. Disney officials actually came and watched the show and made sure the cast did everything the right way. My cousin was Belle in this video and she told us everything about being in Beauty and the Beast.

Gaston's performance was fantastic, but what really sends this performance over the top is Belle's reactions. I've seen this song done with Gaston being fabulous and a Belle who had no clue what to do, this was a perfect performance by both performers! Bravo!

I've been working on this song for a while for an audition at Univ. of Wyoming. If I may offer some criticism, as much as the song is supposed to be funny and all that, don't spend the whole time looking out into the crowd during the song "Me". this was good, but could've been much much better if the characters were more connected to each other.

It was for fun at a community theatre, not my profession. Thanks for the comment though! On another note, critcism for you provided you read this again: Why would you do this song for an audition? There have got to be thousands of better songs to show off your vocal range and acting abilities. Of course, if "Me" is the best you can do - I suggest looking into another profession.

I can definitely do much better, but my knowledge of musical songs is slim, and I was relying on my musical theatre teacher at the time, and he recommended a song that was way too high out of my reach. I ended up with less than 10 hours to learn a new song, so needless to say, I needed a quick song to learn. "me" isn't the best song, but it makes for a great last second song.
