  • Beautiful Country..Thanks for the ride Bro! Gunney

  • Just wondering something...were you able to hear the sound track, or did YouTube mute the vid?

  • Heard the track on both..sorry about the name screw up..was trying to get back to everyone..must have saw the wrong name somewhere..Gunney

  • You were probably looking at 69RD96's channel. His name is Ron, and we have some similar vids.

  • Even I can hear it in AUSTRALIA!!!

(sometimes it does matter what country u watchin from)

  • how come you got ta drive so far a route?

  • The company's based in the Vancouver area. The accounts are from North Van to Whistler.

It's actually a very nice route in the Summer months - mostly highway miles. The truck only gets filled up once on this shift, but they have no bonus for extra tips, so I didn't miss out in that regard.

It sucked in the winter though - trying to pull/push the cans through the ice.

  • great for showing us your route. Thanks for putting up more than one song.

  • Im thinking about going over to the July26 RB sale . didnt know if you were going to that, it'd be good if we could hook up and talk shop. Anyhow have a look at my videos, tell me what you think. I love yours.

  • Naw. I'll be working somewhere. Just subbed to your vids. I'll be sending you a message related to the machines you've got on the mine. I think you'll find it very interesting, but later. Supper's on!

  • Just wanted to say that I watch your videos often over here on Saltspring Island. We have an old fastTrac cat 416C 4x4 backhoe over here. still has the decal on the boom :) Love the fact that you speak fluent korean. Very cool. I read that you now work for Pedre. Did you go to the abbotsford equip show this year? Lots of Pedre guys there I noticed. Anyhow, wouldn't mind havin a cup of coffee with you if it worked out one day, you seem like a cool guy.

  • Does the 416 still have the hydraulic thumb on it? If it does, can I get you to take a picture of it for me? I was telling someone else on YouTube about that backhoe recently, about how it was the only backhoe I'd ever seen that had a live thumb on it. Wasn't too happy to see them sell that one, especially after they got a fat contract for it with the GVRD!

    ahh...life goes on. T'was a good backhoe.

  • I just quit at Pedre after 4 1/2 months to go work with an old buddy doing commercial site services. I was with Fast Trac for 11 years.

Yeah, we'll do coffee some time if it works out.

  • Love your videos. Seen 'em all. I'm a 28 year old guy I have a placer gold mine with my father in North BC with a fleet of large equipment and also I own/operate an excavating business with a Kobelco SK200 MK IV, a Kobelco 75UR, a Hitachi EX40, and a baby 1 ton IHI IS9UX. Also got a bobcat 773 and a ride on Bomag 5' roller with a couple of Yanmar dumpers and a Intl ramp/hiab truck.

  • Good to see the the boys from Kiewit givin' 'er shit for the 2010 olympics

  • Yeah. I was hoping to get on that job running a hoe, but I guess they had all the operators they needed. They're doing a great job.

  • Very good music, I love this.

    John.

  • The 99 freeway looks like it is getting a revamped look. I've been to Whistler and on the 99 freeway "Freeway to the Sky" as it is nicknamed. BC is indeed a beautiful country. I'd live in Vancouver BC if I'd have the chance. It really is a gorgeous city and the country matches it. Thanks for the ride! I haven't been on the 99 freeway since my only trip up to Whistler.

  • Wait another couple of years, and then go just before the Olympics. The highway upgrade should be finished by then. It should be pretty nice then.

  • kimchiman great video. Wonderful area. One question though, what is the name of the second song? Thanks for the help.

  • It's 'Six Days on the Road'. This version's by Boxcar Willy. There's another version that I like better, but I couldn't find it, so I used Willy's. The third one is Allan Jackson, 'Where I Come From', and you probably already know the first one is Merle Haggard's 'Workin' Man Blues'.

  • Awesome vid..beautiful drive....how'd u get the shot of yourself before pointing the camera towards the dash???

  • I made the camera self-levitate with magical powers! Okay, I didn't but I wish I could have. I just held the camera at arms length, and hoped that it was pointing at me straight on.

    Glad you enjoyed the ride.

  • So you only work for WCS for one day a week? You work as a heavy equipment operator monday to friday. Do you work for King Kubota?

  • No. I was working for one of their competitors, Fast Trac Bobcat & Excavating Service, up until the end of February. I was there for about 11 years, but had to quit when things slowed down to only one or two days a week for several months. Just couldn't pay the bills with that. That's how I ended up taking the weekend job, right kittycorner from King Kubota. Now I work for Pedre Contractors full time.

  • Hey kimchiman, how many hours a day do you usually work? Is it usually about a 10 hour day? I know that there are some guys who start there shift at around 3:00am. Thats damn early.

  • I usually start my shift 'tween 3 and 5 AM, depending on how much sleep I get on Friday night. A month ago, my shift was usually 11 to 12 1/2 hours, depending on how much garbage (reloads, etc) I had to pick up. But the ski season in Whistler is slowly coming to a close, so the days are more like 10 to 11 hours now, and I hear they will get shorter later toward summer.

  • Also: My Monday to Friday heavy equipment operator job is usually about ten hours per shift - sometimes more, sometimes less.

  • Not trying to be funny, but country music and trucking just go hand in hand, I fell in love with it while driving flatbed tractors over the road for Werner Enterprises, always been into rock since I ws little.....That song is definitely a trucker's anthem, especially us garbagemen!

  • I tend to agree with you, bro.

  • Beautiful drive! Not many garbage routes offer a view anything close to this...very lucky driver you are!

Are you driving an empty truck?

That would be a pretty bumpy ride running empty...

  • Usually by the time I'm on the highway portion, I'm carrying three to five tons of garbage.

  • Hey, that's a pretty sweet deal!

Kinda makes me a little jelous...LOL

  • ...And now that I think about it, it's VERY bumpy in some places, where they're doing a lot of highway construction, but even more so when she's heavy. All the weight gets pushed to the back, and I sit over the front axle, so you kind of have to ride it more like a horse than a truck when it's heavy, on some of the dips and bumps, or your head's into the roof!

  • There is a trick you can use here though. Don't pack the load much, just enough to clear the hopper for the first part of your route. This will distribute the load's weight more evenly throughout the body of your truck and she should ride a lot better...making your trip more enjoyable as well as easier on your back!
