number 1. : use a lighter to remove the silicon of the lenses

nubmer 2. : don't use the defoging agent, simply spit on the lenses from the insider or rub some sea weed on it

@ervan141 If it works for you, it's not wrong. The thing with scuba diving is that all regulators are made to be on your right side. Your snorkle might get in the way. If this isn't a problem for you, keep diving the way you are right now. Or, just put it on the way you're supposed to, and see if you notice a difference.

the commercial defogs work better than spit. just use a little bit, cover the entire glass inside, and rinse it out. Don't rub it out with your fingers.

@akeating its useful to use it when you first buy the mask because it removes a layer of film that the factory had put on.
