I remember my reaction to her first line at the festival...I thought to myself, "I bet she won't make it back next year!" I am sadden to find that it was true! Miss you Kathryn!
Kathryn Tucker Windham was an Alabama and an American treasure. I'm so thankful that she chose to share her stories, books and recordings with us. She gave so much of herself to her listeners and readers. She gave us an example to live by and memories to cherish. No storytelling festival will ever be the same without the Southern grace and love that shone through her as she wove her wonderful stories. She often said "I'm twice blessed. I'm blessed and I know it." That's how I feel now.
What a treasure she was. How glad I am that we have these videos of Miss Kathryn.
