  • Hot dog! It's the Soggy Bottom Boys!

What? That's not their name? Are you telling me that movies aren't real??? D=

  • Great tune! I have to get my harmony on "I'll Fly Away".and post it here sometime in the future. I think she'll like it. It's the best I've ever heard the song. God bless.

  • Awesome! Makes me want to jump off my rocking chair, toss my shotgun and moonshine to the dog and start clogging on the porch!

  • cloony did a good job of miming it huh !

  • "I am the man...that sounds like Randy Travis...

  • Get over it, folks.. My gosh...

  • I think it's rocket surgeon.

  • Like the bayers

    God bless

  • These aren't the Soggy Bottom Boys!!!

  • country, rock n' roll, rhythm and blues, it just doesn't get any better than this;

  • I produce electronic dance music, which is, of course, about as far removed from bluegrass as one can get, but songs like this make me think I was a bluegrass musician in another life. If this doesn't make you want to have a hoedown, you should probably check your pulse!

  • Just make me wanna get up & start kloggin'! What a great song......& what an amazing voice! Alison Krauss is one of my all time favorites as well! Super musicians!

  • Love this.

  • @irish66212 george thought they used his voice at the premier of the movie, he didn't find out until much later that they overdubbed his vocals with a seasoned blues musician from Tennessee

  • Dan Tyminski=AWESOMENESS

  • Landmark Recording. Did any Of The Band appear In The Movie ?

  • Now that's a toe tapper.

  • I hate country music but I love this song and just about anything Allison Krauss sings.

  • He sounds like the movie because he sang it for the movie. George Clooney just lip sinked it.

  • George Clooney did attempt to sing this, but it didn't work.

  • I keep waiting for her to hit Dan square in the temple with that fiddle stick

  • Great bluegrass

  • If George Clooney ate nothing but fudge, ice cream and bacon for a month he'd look just like this guy.

  • 1:01 NICE!!

  • I love to listen to Alison play the fiddle!! She is so awesome.

  • Most of my family played. I grew up with this type of music being played live in the home... clogging and all! How I miss those days...

  • @surrynet LMAO dont thikn u seen the movie dude, no one called dan it lol. do some researhc u probly american rofl.

  • @mikeyholding ...Dan was the person who sang for George Clooney. George didn't do any of his own singing. Look at the credits. Do some RESEARCH.

  • fuck george clooney

  • @helly806 You didn't!

  • me thinks dustinthewind52 is stirring the pot just a little and there ain't nothing wrong with that.

  • george clooney couldn't sing like this if you stuck a mp3 up his butt and pressed play !

  • Ok everybody...pull out your copies of the movie...when the band first comes on stage in the back it's Union Station...Dan & the Guys did a cameo for the movie.

  • That's real pickin. I love it

  • uneducated much? it's not even clooney's voice in the movie.

  • People People, George Clooney did not sing this song in the movie..... Look it up.

  • Not as good as Cloony, but a good effort.

  • @mikeyholding Dude, Clooney didn't sing this song in the movie, this guy did.

  • @InquisitiveSpanish yep, that's Dan Tyminki. I went to one of their concerts and he said his wife wished he was George Clooney. lol

  • @InquisitiveSpanish I showed this video to my fiance and hes like "WOW This guy sounds JUST like George Clooney!!" ..my poor guy lol

  • @mikeyholding DUH, it WASN'T Clooney that sang this song for the movie, it was DAN TYMINSKI, this video isn't a good effort it's the BEST George Clooney could carry a shopping bag more less a tune. LOOK UP Dan Tyminski (Allison Krauss and Union Station)

  • It was a joke! god you people are slow.

  • re: dustinthwind52

George Clooney DIDN'T sing any of that stuff with "The Soggy Bottom Boys"

  • is it he who sings in the movie?

  • @n1cklass yes it is. but the black guy in the movie actually is a great guitarist=]

  • the 3 dislikes must be from drummers :)

  • @aardvarksteve1 I'm a drummer and this is fucking awesome haha :)

  • my soul loves this...my heart cries with joy....

  • These are the real soggy bottom boys!!!

  • I am the damn paterfamilias!

  • Half the reason I watch the movie is all the awesome music and this one in particular.

  • Look to Delmar as your paradigm of hope.

  • And stay out of the Woolworths...lol...great song by this group..my favorite

  • One of the best Bluegrass tunes ever recorded,,,,

  • Do you think we're banned from all Woolworth's or just this one?

  • OK... It's a square neck resonator guitar more commonly known by manufacturer name "Dobro". I don't know what model he's playing in this video, but it sounds awesome!

  • ... Jerry Douglas is undoubtedly the best dobro player alive

  • He has earphones! 2:50

  • @Amitai222 You know those are in ear monitors right? So he can hear the rest of the band playing.

  • Dan T. has an amazing voice.

  • That is indeed a Dobro, among the other great instrumental work from Union Station, among the very best musicians of any genre anywhere. The Dobro is from Jerry Douglas, the past master of Dobro in America...hell, or anywhere else for that matter. He is a pure genius.

  • That is a resonator guitar...Dobro is a brand of resonator. Not sayin' its not a Dobro...but there are a lot of resonators out there.

  • Alright...! lol

  • Alison Krauss sings like an angel with a group that is legendary. Only thing better than watching this video is seeing her and them in person. They are FANASTIC. Can't wait till they're back in our area!!!!

  • George Clooney didn't really sing in the movie he lip synced this guy. His name is Dan Tyminski.

  • Comment removed

  • theres a guitar banjo fiddle and a square neck dobro

  • WOW! He sings AND sounds like George Clooney!

  • @dustinthewind52 Have you heard George Clooney sing?

  • @Nobsackme Just in the movie ...But no, Rosemary (his Mom), Would have done a better job of it than him. I believe it was this guy (in this video) that George lip-synced...quite well ...

  • @dustinthewind52 Rosemary was his aunt, not his mom.

  • @dustinthewind52 Rosemary was George's Aunt.

  • @Nobsackme If you thought Geoge Clooney sang the song, then you "sick in the head", like they say...Some guy named Dan Tyminski or something sang it

  • @jdmeaux I was being sarcastic. FOCK!

  • @dustinthewind52 ...thats because he sang for George Clooney in O Brother Where Art Though.

  • @hayleymichelle104 really???

  • @dustinthewind52 he is who sing in the movie

  • @dustinthewind52 george clooney didn't sing. sorry if I ruined the movie for you.

  • @LattWest I suspect he may have been joking.

  • @LattWest Wow! A rocket scientist..... uhhhhgggg!

  • @LattWest He said on Actors Studio " The producers thought because he wasrelated to Rosemary Clooney they thought he could sing". And he gave proper credit to the man who actually sing it.

  • @dustinthewind52 You're kidding, right? Dan Tyminsky sang the soundtrack for the movie just as he sings it here. The Soggy Bottom Boys were really performed by Union Station. The only difference is that Alison Krauss didn't sing, she only played fiddle, as the Soggy Bottom Boys didn't have any females. LOL

  • @TheFishenigma Thanks for the correction, but his name is Dan Tyminski, he's Polish, not Russian or Jewish!

  • @dustinthewind52 Lol, that because this IS the guy who sang for George Clooney in the movie. Dan Tyminski. Look it up.

  • I will meet you on God's golden shore.

Thumb it up. Not my reply, the video of the song.

  • Being a band and choir teacher, I want my students to like all types of music and you guys are great. Keep up the good work.

  • Cooter, when was this made. I'm hoping Allison hasn't given up the fiddle and sold out to pop music entirely

  • damn thats sweet....now that is music

  • I love this song and Allison Kraus and Union Station. I loved the movie Brother Where art thou that this great tune was used in. I can't help but visualize the actor George Clooney with the fake ZZ Top Beard pretending to sing this song in the movie!

  • Nice Rendition, Although it does miss some of the Finer Points. A bit too much emphasis on melody, and a WEE bit too little on originallity. But Nice, Quite Nice!

  • Amazing.

  • You never bid farewell to Old Kentucky because you always long to return.

  • @RCTPatriot75 Sure is true, RCT. I bid farewell to it twice, but will never forget my time there with Laura, maid with golden hair.

  • Two people don't like this? Are they tone-deaf? This is musicianship at its best!

  • Man that guy can play dat dobro

  • My cousin wanted this played at his funeral and his wife had to fight the Pharisees (you know what I mean) to get it done.

  • Good stuff

  • too bad the mix is fucked up for the banjo picker

  • it doint get any better then this

  • That was so enjoyable to watch and listen to. Thanks for uploading this. : )

  • Not only do they sound better I have not yet seen a lap seel that u can play standing

  • THEY ARE AWESOME

  • looks like only 2 who've watched this video could not let their constant sorrow go.

  • why do i love the dobro?

  • Musical talent just drips in this video.

They may not be the most sexy band, but they are very definitely superb musicians and Alison's vocals are perfection.

  • There is no possible way a pedal steel would work any way near as well as a dobro in this song, especially when it's played by a renowned player plus a pedal steel is electric... not exactly a mountain music instrument.

  • Big Tune...Boss Version!☺

  • I do what I can. =]

  • bob dylan sang this when he was in his 20's--is it an old folk song or did he write it? His version is about Colorado and a failed romance-partly because her mother told him to get lost!

  • wtg central illinois alison kraus!!!

  • A) this is NOT country music (at least not the pop crap that you hear mostly today) it is BLUEGRASS or "oldtimey" music.

    B) this song is waaaaaay older than both the movie and even Union Station

    C) most important - just forget about what the type of music it is and enjoy it!!!!

  • I've shown this to people who swear they loathe country music, and by the end of the song they're enjoying the hell out of it.

  • WHOOOOEEE , BOY THAT WAS SOME MIGHTY FINE PICKIN AND A DIGGIN!!!!!!

  • i was joking

  • who are these clowns lip-syncing George Clooneys big hit?

  • @Raptor3400 This is the real McCoy no lip syncing here.

  • Union Station is one of the most consistent Bluegrass bands I've ever seen. Can't say I ever heard one of their songs I didn't like!

  • Kick Ass!!!

  • Who hit the dis-I-like button?

I guess that poor SOB really is a man of constant sorrow

  • And now, boys and girls, a quick history lesson.

National was founded by the Dopyera brothers. In 1928 John Dopyera left the company and formed the Dobro company (Over a small dispute about single-cone resonators being more accessible for less monetarily endowed musicians). Dobro had several subsidiaries; Regal, Old Kraftsman and Ward, to name a few

The term 'Dobro' is just an abbreviation of the creator's name, used for the company. The instrument itself is called a resonator guitar.

  • @Hoopda Glad to see some one actually knows what they are talking about.

  • when I was little (the '50's) we called it a dobro---NOT a brand name---just what it was. later it was called steel guitar.

  • i dont even like country and i like this song

  • boy i want that Martin he is playing

  • Look at beautiful Allison Krauss rocking with that fiddle.

  • Not to sound like a know-it-all, but the instrument in question is actually called a Resonator Guitar. It's also called a "Dobro", but Dobro is actually just a very popular brand of Resonator Guitar. Kinda like a Band-aid is actually an adhesive bandage, but everybody calls them Band-aids. People typically just call it a Dobro. And it can be played like a typical guitar. But most people lay it horizontally and play it like a steel guitar with a slide.

  • @lucas2718 you cant play a dobro like a typical guitar. they make regular resonator guitars, but dobros have square necks, get off wikipedia. "know it all"? haha not.

  • 2 people need to be crucified

  • what is the name of this instrument at 3:10

    pls anybody reply me ?

  • @totoado Guitar Dobro

  • @CooterMusic or a steel guitar either way the sit down steels are still better but they work just fine

  • @tazmanian1967 Ok thank's. ;-)

  • @CooterMusic watch "The boy who wouldn't hoe Corn" ---->

good use of this instrument :)

  • @tazmanian1967 its actually called a dobro a steel guitar doessnt look or sound like a dobro

  • @tazmanian1967 lapsteel or dobro...six string, square neck, high nut designed to be played with a bar...jerry is one of the all time greats...

  • @CooterMusic just dobro lol

  • @totoado Trade name Dobro. AKA a resonater guitar.

  • @totoado a resonator guitar

  • @totoado Thats a type of DOBRO guitar

  • @totoado the original name is a resinator

  • @totoado its a Dobrow not a steel guitar(: trust me, i know!

  • @totoado its a square necked resonator guitar, most people call it a dobro.

ps. in response to tazmanian1967 nobody calls a dobro a steel guitar, steel guitars are the gay crap you hear in country and southern gospel lol. this is a steel guitar The Blame by David Hartley Pedal Steel Guitar

  • @totoado ok since CooterMusic clearly doesnt know wat hes talking about that is a dobro

  • @totoado ok since CooterMusic is obviously clueless about bluegass music and the instruments that are most commonly used that there is a dobro

  • @totoado it's a steel guitar played with a slide:)

  • @totoado Its a Dobro

  • @totoado That's Jerry Douglas on the dobro. Check him out on the Transatlantic Sessions. Great stuff.

  • @totoado Dobro is a brand name. Acoustic lap steel guitar. Basically, though it is an open tuned acoustic guitar with the strings setup higher which is played with a slide.

  • @totoado It is a Osborne brothers Dobro...I have one.

  • @jgwimmer Excuse me, it's a Dobro Bros Dobro....and that's Jerry Douglas playing it

  • @totoado That is a Dobro they are not like steel guitars. They sound a lot better.

  • @1RamTough Like ol' Curtis Lowe?

  • @totoado dobro....its not steel guitar

  • @totoado ...there is a similar instrument called a resonator...played upright like regular guitar...usually with a slide....neck is different than a dobro...dobro has square neck with strings raised higher for the bar....

  • Comment removed

  • @totoado steel guitar..

  • @OriginalClumsikat actually its not a steel guitar its a dobro

  • It's a dobrough just like a steel just with that tinny sound that you can only get from a dobrough

  • @totoado steel guiter

  • thank God for Sirius and YouTube. without them there is no other way to hear this good stuff in New York City area. No Country stations unfortunately.

  • Unbelievably good !

  • classic song! love it! also...a woman doesnt sing this song nor does this version have a woman singing...not sure what that guy was talking about!

  • classic song! love it!

  • They would be a stronger band without Krauss.

  • Hehe.. Holy fuck thats good music!
