She is my favorite Juliet. She IS Juliet for me. Ferri captured the very words of Shakespeare: a young and sheltered girl falling in love. I have seen some awesome Juliets, but Ferri always wins for me,

Ferri is one of my idols... She's beautiful in everything she does; flawless technique and lovely feet and a nice quality to her lines and movement. This was the last thing she did before retiring, right?

this is while she was still dancing with royal ballet, before she went to america, this recording is from 1984.

i saw her in london when she came to replace darcey bussell in the same role in 2002 or 2003 and even tho it was nearly 20 years later on she was amazing. she still looked like a young girl, her acting was even better because of performing for so many years and maturing as an artist.

@tedsler This calls to mind what Makarova said about the paradoxical nature of dancing Juliet. Sometimes you have “to have maturity to express youth”. Makarova herself admitted she did a far better job essaying Juliet’s character as an older ballerina than she ever could have had she been closer to Juliet’s age. Ferri must have discoverered and experienced the same thing.

I absolutely adore Alessandra Ferri, she's got to be among the most beautiful dancers I've ever seen... She's up there executing every step with a smile on her face like it's the easiest thing in the world, and we watch, trying not to let our jaws drop in amazement.

Alessandra Ferri is my idol. She never had the technical virtuosity of others like Makarova or Kirkland, yet she has this sheer beauty that surpasses all others. My absolute favorite ballet dancer of all time. Hands down.

She just retired from ABT. Her last performance was last Saturday night, in Romeo and Juliet. Then the following Wednesday, she spoke with the students at ABT's New York summer intensive. How thrilling for them! My daughter was there, and got her autograph. Better than meeting a rock star.
