  • This song keep me young. Stay Gold Ponyboy. Hang onto your youth and innocence as long as you can.

  • Journey will never be the same with out Steve Perry! Sorry no disrespect to the new fellow but just the way it is and always will be. That is untill you write your own original songs that become a hit, until then nobody I mean nobody will do it better then Steve!!!!!

  • I can't even watch this anymore...it brings me to tears to think that on my last year of wrestling of high school, I broke my fibula and had to get surgery. I can't freaking believe it. :'( I feel like someone just took my life apart.

  • Matthew Modine. i am a high school wrestler rite now weighing in at 130. when i saw this movie it put so much heart into me. i went undefeated until my last match at state. but i never gave up and i kept trying. i worked everyday to be my best and push my limits. thank u matthew modine. and my coaches

  • Consider that later in the movie he has new wrestling shoes... what he do to get those shoes from Grabby Larry?

  • This movies takes me back to a simpler time when the world was wide open and I was a young man. Dreams were possible.

  • @Pleaver I couldn't agree with you more. :)

  • the ultimate wrestling movie. ...oh wait it's the only wrestling movie.. my b.

  • @Start7Shooting Ever heard of "Win Win?" :)

  • Canción notable... película notable... auténtica historia de amor ochentera, con una banda sonora de aquellas, espero encontrarla algún día para que la veamos Maquita... dedicada a tí, AMO MUCHO.

  • Matthew Modine!...thank you so much for helping win a state title.

  • My nephew is a 7 yr old wrestler in scranton pa and he will be the next SHUTE !!!

  • my fav movie fo sho, fo eva! dwg!!

  • I was 18 in 1985 and I would give anything to go back! Awesome movie!

  • MMA Most Wanted - Great movie - Vision Quest!

  • That might be the best song to be playing during an epic running montage

  • The second half of this video should have his own sub-category, with a homosexual title to it.

  • @cupocity303 Perhaps to you...however, most of the rest of us take it as it is, and not with any perverted sexual undertones to it.

  • @cupocity303 Actually, sorry, you're quite right...misunderstood entirely.

  • The guy in the hotel room is famous Canadian actor, R.H. Thompson. I forgot he had a bit part in this!

  • All the teenage girl angst I felt over this movie...when my now teenage boys told me they were going out for wrestling...my heart broke a little. To think some girl/woman is going to look at my boys they way I look/looked at Matthew Modine...ugh.

  • Steve Perry's voice is absolutely amazing! i recorded a much unworthy version of Don't Stop Believin' on my youtube channel, but he's the KING!

  • 'Brave carry on. Bold and the strong '."

  • obsessed with this when i wrestled in high school! bottom man set!

  • @jstarang1 me..too.I still watch this movie all the time..by the way 1987 NJ state wrestling champion because of this music

  • This tune is amazing. Sounds just as good now as it did then.

  • The movie is OK, but the soundtrack is killer. Especially this track (which could actually be my favourite Journey song) and the mighty Ronnie Dio with Hungry for Heaven.

  • @adam872 amen brother. this is probably my favorite journey tune. like you i can also listen to RJD but he was so good i really can't pick a favorite out of all his work .if i had to though it would be rainbow rising or sabbath.

  • This is during a time when tv and movies gave you a true depiction of how the average homosexual is

  • @funk7000 The movie is full of shit, like the opinions of the average heterosexual about homosexuals. The sole redeeming aspect of this motion picture offering is that, at least, the gay man here isn't flaming effeminate and weak.

  • GEM

  • Loved this movie. My son was a wrestler in HS and I like to relate it to all the hard work I used to observe him put in.

  • 25 years ago, Good soundtrack to a great 80's flick!

  • I made a short film/homage to VISION QUEST!!! It's in the video response section!

  • killer soundtrack for this movie

  • Love this movie one of my favorites.

  • Movie is a classic!

  • Great movie and the song goes with well too!

    "Brian Shoot!!!!"

  • All I can say is awesome.... brings back some good memories.

  • I watched this just because of Journey. I'm not interested in the movie.

  • The story draws you in. It main character, Louden is looking for his big moment on the mats of Spokane, WA where high school wrestling is a big deal. However, on his journey for his big sports moment he ends up discovering a lot more about himself. The movie is solid but the soundtrack gives it a huge boost.

  • @mkp6652 You are correct my friend. Filmed entirely on location in beautiful Spokane, Washington.

  • i love this movie

  • This might be Journey's best song ever.

  • dont stop believing the best

    this I think is 2

  • @TSOrocker1 was also filmed in parts of pittsburgh pa and bellaire ohio and mingo jct ohio andalong with other places yes its a classic 80's movie

  • @TSOrocker1 - This movie brings back A LOT of great memories of happier times for me, too, Bro! This came out in February of 1985: the year after I graduated from HS, had my first real love, and, I felt that everything was as good as can be - and, it was, Man! Keep those great memories, since their one of the few things that can never be taken away! Take care! :)

  • @TSOrocker1 Yeah, seeing Spokane set in this movie gives me chills.

  • @TSOrocker1 and isn't it great cuch lives 35 minutes away!!!! AKA jake ryan...sixteen candles!!! too bad Im too much of a coward to go to his woodworking shop in newfoundland pa!!!

  • Hard to believe Modine couldn't wait to finsih fiming so he could smoke again!! Seriously!

  • looking the way he does now I believe it!.

  • Hear what??

  • vision quest was filmed in spokane washington.

  • Great song!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • loved this movie growing up! what a motivational song and movie combination! my buddy and i would lift weights to this song to help push ourselves to extreme

  • My favorite movie ever! very motivational for any athlete

  • I was about 7 or so when this came out and thought how "grown up" and down right sexy it was!!! I'm female, straight, but watching Linda F. in it I thought that's how a woman should be, and Mathew, forget it, looooooved him!!!! And still do!!

  • never forget the 1st time i saw this,it was the same day i got the japanese nes version

  • Certainly one of Modines best movies!

  • Whenever I watch this movie, I feel like I was looking at myself almost 10 years ago. I graduated in 2002 and I did alot of the same long distance running he did to get my cardio up for wrestling season. I remember training my ass for that final bid at the state tournament knowing it was my last chance.

  • We all meet someone like Shute in our youth. It's which direction we go when that obsticle present itself is how we are defined. Take on those challenges in your youth, it makes you more solid in the years to come. Go Loudin!

  • Matthew Modine is sexy!

  • great movie

  • Im a wrestler and this movie is so accurate on how things are - but the funny thing is Chute in the movie was a actually a freestlye gold medalist in Berlin yet he has to get pinned- thats ironic- he also was in 16 candles for those of you who rememberhim as jake.

  • THAT WAS KUCH NOT SHUTE

  • Sorry , i get names messed up easily.

  • well the names are simliar, so I dont blame ya

  • Yeah they really do have similar sounds. But what i wanna know is who the hell names there kids chute and kuch lol

  • Yeah Louden, Kuche and Chute are some weird ang goofy names, guess the author wanted to be distinctive

  • I have the site to watch this in great quality, if anyone wants the link send me a message.

  • Send me the link , its a great song.....Thanks

  • What is the link?

  • he hella old now go look him up"matthew modine"man hes wrinkled

  • BEST SONG EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER. Did I mention Ever?

OH and you got Tangerine Dream + Madonna when she was smokin.

Matthew Modine and Michael Shoeffling. DREAMY. I'm in heaven.

  • Don't forget Lunatic Fringe by Red Rider as well!!!!!

  • Best 80's movie by far!

  • badass movie

  • Chute: You gonna make the weight?

    Louden: I hope so.

    Chute: I hope so too.

  • JAMMER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i'd probley watch this movie cause of this song. got to get the soaring perry effect.

  • Classic Song!....and Classic Movie ; )

  • Your team sucks if they watch this yearly, what you need to watch to get pumped up is, Saved by the bell, all of AC's wrestling scenes,

  • my wrestling team watches this every year.... great movie and great song

  • Just saw this flick as I missed it back in 1985. Jesus I gotta get in shape...great opening sequence with a great tune!

  • Great song!....and Great 80's Movie....Could of included the whole song but still good ; )

  • GREAT, GREAT, MOVIE! CLASSIC!!!

  • did anyone ever see ANYBODY doing Tai Chi or see a commercial with people doing Tai Chi in it?

that is, until after this movie.

This is my second fave Journey tune after Be Good To Yourself. kicks ass

and watch Matt Modine smell the girl's panties. great scene.

  • Great Song,Great Movie, Nuff Said!

  • I was around 17 when this came out. When I hear it, it makes me feel young again.

    Stay gold Ponyboy!

    ~D in Austin

  • where ddi this take place specifically?

  • I believe it was filmed in Seattle or it's suburbs.

  • No, it was filmed in Spokane.

  • Spokane, Washington. What's funny is when it shows him running from :03 to approximately 0:11 that is rural territory heading into Spokane...but about 10 miles out! Then it shows him running across a bridge near Riverfront Park. Ah...the memories.

  • Another bit of recluse trivia was Madonna's opinion of Spokane (This was her first minor role as the singer in the club). She said she grew up in Detroit and thought it was the filthiest place on Earth. She said she thought that until she came to Spokane.

  • well, spearheaded by steve perry, journey was one of the best rock acts in the 80's...it's really a pity that they had to go separate ways...

  • Grew up in the area this was filmed at. The skywalks he's running across near Riverfront park, the hotel, etc. This movie coupled with the score created quite the anchoring tether to my youth. And what he says at the end is a hard truth that most learn to late. Thanks for posting it from the opening scene. BTW,has anyone put it together that Schute played the Molly Ringwald's love interest in Sixteen Candles? Yep, the leather-clad mohawk sporting guy is none other than Jake Ryan.

  • that was michael schoffling that played jake in 16 candles with molly ringwald. shute was the gut who matt bodim wrestled. none the less it was a great era and both great movies.

  • God if this doesnt take you back I dont know what does....and you gotta love the song, Journey ROCKS!

  • Looooooooove this!!

  • There was a move called takedown about wrestling.

  • YES! THEY CALL ME NOTOE!

  • My all time fav. Journey song. it was written for a boy who was terminally ill, and journey left the tape for the boy to have, he died the next day. very meaningful message for sure. Never was originally released on the Frontiers album, up until the recent re-issue of the album in 2006 added as a bonus track.

  • This is the only movie about wrestling.

  • my fav Journey song means alot to me! Great movie too.

  • Tip top this movie is, Linda Fiorentino in that wife beater, my God. Shoot was the best.

  • one of my top 3 movies of all time..how could it only get a 5.9 on IMDB?

  • I agree man, one of my fav movies and songs of all time. IMDB is gay with their weird ways of rating bad for good movies.

  • i watched for the upteenth time on ESPN the other night also. such a great flick! can't believe there's peeps that haven't seen it or heard of it! great soundtrack 2!

  • This movie was on ESPN last night. I Love this movie.

  • well i wanna watch the movie now

oh i forgot i have it, alright:)

  • What an awesome movie this was! DAMN, I miss the 80s!

  • I remember watching this in the hotel before the state championships in High School. Great movie, and great song!

  • No matter what else I see, what else I do it always comes back to this movie. Every time I see it, even 15 years after the first time, it sends shivers down me. Truly a fantastic film! Understated genius!

  • Truly a freakin' classic. Love this flick and whenever I need a little motivation, I'll watch it and it picks me right up.

  • his name was shute, but it don't matter when you love a movie like this.

  • It's all about that moment we remember back in high school. Weather it's sports or whatever, but having all eyes on you, feeling life in your vains... and beating Shoop (and getting the girl too :)

  • my pops turned me on to this movie when I was in junior high in the late 90's it has driven me to do everything that I have done. Extremely undersized in every sport I have played, but somehow made it happen. You put your mind to something anything is possible, for anyone......Never doubt youself.

  • @ktat01 you're never undersized in sport of wrestling. i kicked a lot of ass at 185 (and got my ass kicked a lot ) screw 167. ate all i wanted never went over 175. btw i would have DROPPED that effin' queer. rock on mat hogs!!!!!!!!!!

  • trained to this movie everyday growing up. It always motivated me. Now that i'm older i still watch it to get motivated.

  • Helluva movie. One of my favorites from the 80's.

  • Filmed entirely on location in Spokane, Washington.

  • I did some research and I found out the Coach died of a heart attack in 1997 and Elmo died in a car crash in 2004. But they will forever be immortalized in the greatest sports film of all time, in my opinion! They were perfect in their roles.

  • without a doubt- the most underrated 80's sports coming of age movie puts rocky etc to shame....

  • Its like FLASHANCE (directing/lighting style)-MEETS-THE KARATE KID (plotwise).

Still baffles me the scene where Madonna sings CRAZY FOR YOU on a small bar (quite a long ways from her performances in huge arenas)...

  • check out the top of the screen when they are talking in front of the mirror -- you can see the microphone moving around over their heads. love things like that in movies. great ones too in 16 candles. two best movies ever made. vision quest being the best hands down. shute is an oriental medicine (accupuncture) doctor in california. just a little trivia

  • im 37 bst movie ever listen to his words the fight it is a vision quest we all seek we all get out of bed woow whats your quest

  • I agree Ragindude The six minutes speech is powerful!!

  • "It's not the six minutes, it's WHAT HAPPENS in that six minutes". Great speech in a great movie.

  • I watched the movie when I was a college student. Great movie

    I like Journey too

  • Journey! Yesssssssssss

  • Journey too! Somehow, I managed to totally miss this movie...that strikes me as near impossible given the release date, but it's true. I will have to check it out.

  • Awesome! This movie is the best. Thanks for uploading!
