Sun is a non living being. If you worship the sun, then you need to worship moon, animals and whatever things are helpful for mankind. Better try to understand God who is in spirit. Because without sun neither you would exist to respect glory of your god and nor Jesus. It's just way to show gratitude for providing light and in turn everything. You can show gratitude and still believe your god or jesus or Allah or anything for that matter.

Expression of gratitude dosen'thave to be only to living thing. It's more for negating big I which helps in developing compassion which is core of life of Jesus.

We should have some basic common sense. If you show gratitude to a non living being , how can it understand your gratitude? Now a days even a normal man is not willing to show any respect for your gratitude, so try to give your gratitude to the creator rather than to the creation. Bible the word of God says that God exists in the form of trinity. A common man can't understand the trinity (Father, son and Holy spirit), it is only spiritually discerned and believed. Gratitude is a human quality, virtue. whether the object used to develope quality is living or nonliving is irrelevant.Gratitude helps reduce Igo and develope 'Compassion' which is one of main quality of Jesus. I don't develope a quality to make some imaginary god happy.
