жид буквально означает иудей, но славянском чаще использовалось для обозначения евреев как нации.
еврей на идише так и будет - жид.
все эти слова мутация латыни - judaeus, что означает иудей.

Истинно так. Посему эту песнь любят петь в Великий Пост.
У простого народа всегда более примитивное, может иногда неверное представление о многих вещах. Но суть песни скорее в ожидании Воскресения.
