I completely agree with you, although I think Cher 's version still has value.

This is almost like a Gypsy song, and the Gypsy-like, or East European-like violin in Cher 's version adds

a great deal to this version of the song.

Many artists sang this song over the years: Nancy Sinatra, etc (many of which you can find here on YT) but no one sang it as good as Cher did in this 1960s version including in Cher's 1980s remake. The original Cher version tops them all!
