Drill was too sloppy, at a time when the British Army was renowned for tight drill. Those guys look good and are probably good fighters, but they need to learn to march in step and drill properly.
Looks brilliant. I wish I could have seen this re-enactment when I visited Lexington in 1995, especially as it was the first battle of the war. I might have had to cheer for the Brits though.
Independence was inevitable sooner or later - shame it cost so many military and civilian lives.
Great to see this- I'm one of the Redcoats in the vid (in fact, one of the guys with the red plumes in their caps). It's not perfect, but given the conditions we do it in (modern town, regulations, gun laws, crowds, liability issues) I'm amazed it comes off so well. It really should be done about an hour earlier at dawn. The Brits should look like muddy, exhausted figures who have been marching all night. This was not a parade ground exercise in 1775, it was an awful event for all concerned.
whats this all about,we the british would have won if the french hadnt stabbed us in the back and blockaded our shipping supplies..and whats the booing of our redcoats all about, dont forget both sides were british anyway except some stayed loyal to the homeland and some got greedy and didnt want to pay taxes, and saw the opputunity to side with the french..against there old country [not nice]also george washingtons grandfather was english, your history is our history
lol, geez don't take the booing so personally, its in good fun!
not to mention the summery ("some got greedy" over taxes...) is overly simplistic and innacurate (Loyalists also protested those same taxes!) but hey, this is YouTube, not a history class.
anyway, great video I'd love to see this first hand!
take it easy buddy... The American colonists just decided that we dont believe in being ruled by kings anymore. It seems that the British caught on to this idea eventually
Hi broadband01 don't take offence at the booing it's all in good fun and in the spirit of the day.We in the U.S.don't dislike our British cousins at all.Notice at the end of the reinactment as the Redcoats were marching they are given applause for their part.btw my family were loyalist from Virginia (1623)and lost everything in the revolution. Now having the luxury of hindsight im glad of the way things turned out.Altho the way things are going over here lately I sometimes wonder lol.
The gunshots are way louder than they sound in this video. Sounds like a nearby lightning strike. The sound hurts my ears 300ft from the gunshot.

these men in red coats have jobs and families and other priorities that prevent them from spending hours and days drilling.

What do you mean? Sure, they came to respect us and they don't have an absolute monarch anymore, but they are still ruled by a king/queen.
