  • RIP

  • 1. Pause video at 0:00

    2. Open new tab/window and search:Right here Right now, by Fatboy Slim on youtube.

    3. Play both videos.

  • @johsanchez917 Haha just done it,epic!!Great idea =]

  • this wave for some reason looks bigger than Garret Mcnamara's wave

  • THAT ONE WAS NICE FOOTAGE , BUT NOT THE BIGGEST ANYMORE !!! GARRETT MAcNAMARA HE`S RODE A MONSTER IN PORTUGAL AROUND 90 FT !!! ;)

  • la cago el culiao ¿que le paso, murio?

  • Maybe its the angles or the way the wave broke a combination of both. But this footage inspires more awe than Garrett MacNamara's 90 foot. Maybe its just me. There both great surfers. I just like this one more.

  • He should have a head cam :/

  • holy shit

  • Fuuuuuuuuuhhhhhhhh

  • The Guy On The Jet Ski Was Like "Bye Bitch"

  • Is it just me, but it seems like the tow partner turned away a little soon and Parsons let go awfully early, leaving him way high in the wave, when it was still a groundswell. That little drop he took when it barreled looked pretty scary. I'm surprised he'd let go so early - that was pretty ballsy.

  • Between 1.10 and 1.30 it looks kind of like he was surfing near the edge of some kind of giant mad waterfall.

  • ####

  • how the heck did he survive that 1 second im like hes dead next he just flys right out of the wave

  • @MrMrbassguitarman It was nothing buy spray he probably couldn't see very well but thats about it.

  • @Fernandez218: You're measuring the face of the wave and the flat of the wave, the part that hasn't gone vertical yet, which is total bullshit. From that perspective you're not just seeing top to bottom, you're seeing the water outstretching in FRONT of the wave as well. I'm still calling bullshit on 64 feet because it's NOT 64 feet. Look at the where the water from the wave is hitting the surface again, THAT is the true height of the wave.

  • @overcritikill Crest to trough is how you measure wave height. The "wave" that hes riding is breaking, however, and so the trough is squishing up against the seafloor (which is what is causing the wave to break because the crest is now moving faster than the rest of the wave)

Crest height is what you're thinking about, I'm really bad at visualizing though but the crest does seem to be about 60 feet tall.

  • To clarify: Only 1/2 of waves in deep water are visible. (the crest). To measure a wave's height you measure from crest to the trough. Therefore, a 64 foot wave is actually a 128 foot wave. HOWEVER: because this is a breaker, it means that the trough is being compressed against the sea floor, causing the crest to become higher and to move forward faster than the trough (causing it to crash).

Therefore, this breaking wave that he is riding is probably something like 80-100 feet tall.

  • Who doesnt enjoy a good adrenaline rush? ;-)

  • That dude has balls

  • wave on steroids

  • Mensen uit nederland: wie krijgt hier nog meer de geniale AH reclame van : Lalalalalalala pasta :D!

  • wow

  • who was thinking go bictch go at 1:20 ?

  • no way this waves 64ft, it looks around 30ish but still thats freaking huge!

  • @Zazilza1 r u kidding if mike is 6 foot that wave is easyly 10 times bigger than him not just 5 look at it carefully at 1:35 and decide which 1 sounds correct

  • From 2:08 to the rest of the video , i can see him like falling ?

  • even though this is no longer considered the biggest wave ridden that was recorded, this video is so sick to watch the wave develop. it's like the wave's so big he has to snowboard down it, insane...

  • unreal!

  • (nintendo) 64 ft wave

  • duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuude thats Insane!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Damn. From at least 1:19 you look like you're riding down a frigging mountain... O.o damn nature... you scary.

  • That is NOT a 64 foot wave. Damned big, but it's not 64 feet. Watch where the lip of the wave crashes down and then compare it to the surfer. That is maybe a 35 foot wave. The perspective from the helicopter makes it look larger, but that is no 64 foot wave.

  • @overcritikill did you pause at 1:37? check it out. how many multiples of that guy you think would fit inside that wave from head-to-toe? around 12? if so that would serve as a check on the enormity of this wave.

  • @overcritikill no offense but you're stupid to think that they sized the wave from the helicopter and just thru it on youtube. for a time, this was the biggest wave ever ridden that was recorded ON video. they wouldn't make the mistake of doubling the height of the wave... Fernandez is right.

  • Comment removed

  • just wondering if he were to fail, would he die?

  • @1Datey dont know hoppe everyone will like your comment so some expert can see it an answered

  • @1Datey

More than likely...those waves break rocks..so imagine what they can do to the human body.

there's a chance he would live but it's unlikely.

  • @1Datey he did fall at the end

  • @1Datey No, he would be rag-dolled for two-three minutes but he wouldn't die from the wave itself, its actually more probable for him to die from suffocating.

  • @apledex or hitting the razor sharp reef just a couple feet below

  • highlight of his life

  • Damn imagine the Adrenalin rush you would have lmao

  • he got balls

  • Some of the photographers are as crazy as the surfers. This is awesome.

  • the angle made it look alot bigger

  • woahh and i shit my pants when a 5 foot wave comes :p

stop at 1:24 , shit thats massive

  • my dude rode a tsunami

  • Awesome. its my dreamscene background! Windows 7.

  • HHHOOOOOLLLYYYY FFFFUUUUCCCKKKKK!!!!!!!!!!! that's a small ass wave

  • Well that's the end of him

  • Kinda refreshing to hear the sounds of the ocean and wind instead of music.

  • meh... nothing special....

  • think this is big ? there was a mega tsunami in 1958 which reached a height of 524 meters ( 1,720 feet) and two people actually survived it by riding it on their boat. if you dont believe me google lituya bay megastunami :)

  • im afraid of going waist deep in the water lol

  • Where is "Jaws"?

  • @kaylalook hawaii

  • CGI wave

  • what a guy

  • this is not the biggest wave surfed type in 85 foot wave ken bradshaw

  • woah...dat shit is like a hill.

  • It looks bigger at the beginning before it breaks....then after it breaks it looks a bit smaller.

  • cool

  • Of course the video was edited later, but the ride was real. He did it in front of hundreds of spectators on the beach at Jaws. He's a world class surfer, he doesn't need to fake his rides!

  • @ChristineImhoff I read this was Cortes Bank

  • @cdamauser1963 Yes, Mike Parson won an award for surfing a huge wave at Cortes Bank, but I think the one in the video is at Jaws. There is a different version of this video where you can see the cliff with spectators, and he himself said he could hear people cheering after the ride. Cortes Bank is way out at sea, so there wouldn't have been a beach near by.

  • is this even real :0

  • wow that was pretty amazing...I'd like to see this guy surf a 150ft rogue wave in the Atlantic Ocean next!! Rogue waves are the biggest, highest waves that occur in the open ocean and they don't break so imagine trying to surf on one of those...your life would depend on it!!! This 64ft monster wave was epic though...Mike Parsons has got balls of steel, seriously! :)

  • this is fake

  • @DodoCatcher

he won 55,000 dollars for this, riight.

  • @GCLU if thats true, he should won a mill.

  • @GCLU 64k

  • @DodoCatcher this is real its from a surf movie Billabong

  • @DodoCatcher this is real idiot, they showed behind the scenes of this video. and its on National Geographic too.! watch?v=H9Oplnr8WcE&feature=related

  • Wat if tht crashed on you while you were paddling out.

  • This is almost another sport - it really is something very different from what I think of surfing, which is something like Phil Edwards styling on a four footer... Mr. Parsons is freaking nuts!

  • what a pussy!

  • yes he is defintley alive i saw him yesterday! and this isnt even his biggest his biggest is 87 feet

  • fake

  • @TheJakarb this is not fake bitch...look up biffest wave ever surf

  • @TheJakarb Here we have the very best and worst of humanity. On the one hand, Mike Parsons. A man who rides mountains. A man who goes out into the world and pits himself against massive, primeval forces that could crush him like a bug.

On the other hand we have Jakarb, who is some fatass on the internet dismissing such a spendid achievement because it makes him feel inadequate.

  • @ManicParroT umm or its fake look at the jetski change ........ fag

  • @TheJakarb wtf? it's the same jetski dumbass.

  • @bumbaisamurai nah his bordies change the sky changed its fake dumbass

  • @TheJakarb Oh, of course. The sky changed. That's great evidence to prove somethings fake. I mean, it definitely couldn't be that they filmed that particular scene at a different time of the day or anything logical like that. Another thing, his board, board shorts, whatever the hell "bordies" are DIDN'T change dumbass.

  • What are you on about? The jetski doesn't change! ...Although the shots from under the water are probably not from Mike surfing this wave but video'd at a later date!

  • Damn nature you scary

  • Thaught it was only 40ft says it in "the red bulletin" ( december2010)

  • AVALANCHE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • fuck me! , dudes seriously is he alive? that wave is so fucking b ig!!!

  • @tavosatriani yes he's survived dude. he's umbeliveble

  • tubular

  • and im afraid of 6 footers

  • @yomamadud77 thats what she said..

  • @yomamadud77 you must be from the east coast?

  • I am scared shitless of waves like that. How come they form so big out in the middle of the ocean instead of closer to shore?

  • Comment removed

  • @TW14gunner lol

  • letting go of that rope must be intense

  • wow!

  • is this day of accurance at waimea bay ?

  • he was die?

  • Oh Lord, this wave is so big and the board is so small. Incredible.

  • this makes me proud to live in laguna beach

  • @Xx1DOWNHILL1xX lucky bastard

  • ITS A FREKING TSUNAMI!

  • @BioReginSnp tsunami's aren't this big.. tsunami's can be as small as 10 feet, but they crash so high up on the beach that it causes problems. the only tsunami's that are this big are ones in the arctic where huge chunks of ice break off of cliffs or glaciers and plunge into the water. however, you would die surfing in this water because of the temperature..

  • Mike had the ride of his life. I love this clip! Just freaking awesome!

  • I love this

  • I love the sound of the ocean.

  • so funy how nerds think they can take this video and call it a "tsunami" when i bet they have never seen the ocean up close. IM NOT SAYING THIS VIDEO IS FAKE, LOOKS FAKE FROM HELI BUT I KNOW ITS NOT.

  • wow

  • Excellent photography and editing.

  • surfs up hahahaha

  • so fucking rad and epic

  • 5 ppl are just retarted and gay or blind.

  • mind blowing

  • silver surfer anybody?

  • ma è vero?

  • Incredible respect !!

  • Balls of STEEL!!! Touch by the hand of God

  • Just one word: COJONES!

  • house-tall wall of water indeed... O_o

  • I don't get it, how come there are people who rate this clip as 'unlike'???

  • he almost trips near the end, but I guess later on he does fall off.

  • that start looked like a deep water wakesurfing start ( you wakesurf behind a wakeboat)

  • I'm not surfer and this video it just sick. Somebody put this kickin' video to some hot music. I'm no tech head either or I would have done it :)

  • someone added footage of themselves to the beginning. the surfer and driver are different in the two scenes... four people not two. done-robbed.

  • Thats just god damn ridiculous. Gotta be the biggest ever huh?

  • I would love to dive on that wave!!

  • what happened at the end? aww i wanted to watch more dude.

  • this was at cortez bank right?

  • @hsuanstr "Jaws".. Pehi (spelling?) Just east of the airport in Maui (north coast)..

    (Not Cortez Bank)

  • "Unofficially the biggest wave ever surfed remains Ken Bradshaw's wave at Log Cabins, Oahu on January 28, 1998, at over 80 feet." that's from wikipedia. and second video at your right :) But this video looks cooler

  • went surfing for my fourth time last week at cocoa beach fl. started getting arrogant after catching loads of 4-5 foot waves. this video humbles me

  • And this is why when an asteroid strikes the ocean, Mike Parsons will be the only man alive on whatever coast it hits after riding it inland 500 miles.

  • @Dangturtle and kelly slater

  • it was about 70 feet tho

  • This guy is a fuckin surfing god.

  • great bit of film, the helicopter did a good job filming it

  • Comment removed

  • this is a real video, no camera tricks whatsoever, i even notice alot of preparations was involve here before they the waves. besides ive seen waves as big as 45 feet and surfers were just riding them like they normally do. and for those who thinks its fake, tell several good reasons why its fake?

  • But tow in surfing is legend. Lar-bo is the man

  • I've seen bigger waves in my bathtub....of course it was a very big tub.

The awesome power of nature is amazing.

  • killer wave

good ride mike parsons ; )

  • that is very very impressive

  • its not fake its on an underwater mountain range

  • Awesome.

  • holly shit

  • imagine going over the falls on that mother . . !

  • Balls of Steal!!!

  • You're Fake

  • @kooljjc123 your a fucking KOOK! Get a life looser. ITS REAT YOU FAG!

  • @kooljjc123 umm mate its real look it up or watch billabong odyssey. jaws is far enough offshore that the wave gives way back into deeper water before it hits the beach, so it doesnt damage land. and if u think no1 is able 2 do that just visit maui or the north shore of oahu in their swell season and watch

  • This is the best version of Parson's killer wave. I have watched this clip a hundred times at least and it never gets old!

  • thats in the cortez banks 115 miles off of san diego CA

  • @deandsre2 this is not at the cortes banks, this is at Jaws in Maui, Hawaii.

  • @yolk151 oh my bad... it looks very similar to cortes

  • I seen waves like that in Bognor, one old lady got her zimmer stuck.

  • No 1 in the world can do that just camera affects and if it was real which it is not that would destroy lots of the ground where poeple live.

  • @kooljjc123says you,you pathetic,look up shit before souding like a bonehead..

  • @kooljjc123 You obviously know nothing about surfing, this is not fake.

  • @kooljjc123 HAHA man you might as well be wearing a shirt saying Im a kook. These waves are real and there is a ton of footage of waves like this all over the world man,get off from your computer and go to the beach. These waves can be huge like this but not endanger people on the shore because they are breaking yards from the shore. All that really hits the shore is alittle white water sometimes.

  • Fake

  • @kooljjc123,you the one that's fake mothafucka!!!

  • @kooljjc123,you just a sad forieigner, that's all, alot of you mothafuckas are like that,it's ok you sad fucker!!!!

  • Niggas please! I've tackeled waves 3 times bigger than this one...

  • lol dude that was the funniest comment i iver heard on you tube! two thumbs up...lmaofff

  • @paulnathanielsmith,what's so funny, the dude your replying to is a complete chucklehead and just a pathetic youtube poser.
