The Good Doctor's real-life mental instability was well known. Harley Race, Terry Funk, Dusty Rhodes and Eddie Graham all tell legendary stories of how he was batshit crazy.
Dr Graham unfortunately did not take good care of himself. Superstar Billy tells of how he was supposed to team up with him but Jerry would come drunk for his appearnces. Speaking of appearances, surprised he had stamina in the ring due to his waistline...amazing..
Dr.Jerry and Eddie Graham were on the cover of the 1st wrestling magazine I ever saw,it was called Wrestling Illustrated, my Mom bought it she loved wrestling. There were pictures of the famous bloody feud between the Grahams and Rocco and Perez at MSG, in one of the pictures it showed Eddie leading Jerry back to their corner,He has blood running down his face, his hair, into his eyes, dripping off his nose,in his mouth, chin, you can tell that he really can,t see.He must have bladed very deep.
Harley Race, Dusty Rhodes and Terry Funk all tell the great Jerry Graham story about a tour of the Southwest circa 1968 where Jerry got drunk, poured blue dye in a hotel bathtub and got in with his brand new suit on (to dye it). When Funk and Dusty discovered this they tried to get Harley to let Jerry ride with him...but Harley would not let him in the car, so they rented a U-Haul and put Jerry in it. LOL.
The bearhug has been popular since the beginning of wrestling as far as I know. All of the big men used it at some point. Yukon Eric used it as a submission. So did Moose Cholak sometimes. Bobo Brazil was another. The Kentuckians used it a lot as a finisher.
Yeah, their real last name is Fornini, and they are from my hometown of Parsippany, NJ. Really nice people, may dad used to work with one of Angelo's nephews in the town.
Thanx for the info! I had a feeling they were from nearby!! I watched the Dr. and Angelo when I was a 3 year old with my Parents every Saturday Night on WNEW-5! Ray Morgan was the announcer back then!!

@TheVirajster As someone who has an expanded waistline. Stamina is not an issue. It must be genetics or conditioning.
