Really 1 Billion? That seems a little no ridiculously high. Oh and communism was not caused by atheism nor did atheism have anything to do with the laws.
@feanando No, just because Hitler and Stalin were (arguably) atheists, does not mean that their atheism is what made them kill people. Think about it, communism has nothing to do with atheism.
Only the elimination of all conservative Christians will allow all Americans to be free and the world to no longer have to live in fear of the U.S.A.'s imperialist, terrorist holy war. The conservative ideology has never helped mankind in any way, it has not only never helped mankind in anyway, it has oppressed, murdered, raped and killed all those in it's way to gain power. History shows us this. Fact shows us this.
Christianity is so popular in prison because it allows one to cast their responsibility on someone else. One can go through life doing whatever one wants and then cast ones "sins" on an imaginary being and be done with it.
What studies? You sound like a professor I had. Show a link to back up these findings. It’s just hard to believe what you’re posting. Very subjective material.
Sorry mr black guy, your authority is undermined by the fact that you stand on the road for the entire video which is highly unresponsible, what kind of example are you giving? Moreover, in spite of advocating atheism (which should allow to assume you are a sceptic and a rationalist) you actually shamelessly levitate (see shadow at 2:25). Therefore I dismiis everything that's been said in this video. Thank you.
I'm a failed atheist. I have no accredited secondary education. I am unemployed and divorced currently supported by my socialist daughter and my working class son. As far as intelligence is concerned,'being well educated and not having a good career or means of living is just flakey.' I don't want to tax or blow up any religions or people. I sometimes wonder would I trade my weak means to a religion that would prop me up for the rest of my life? I think I'd rather go hungry as an honest man.
To me atheism - o - phobia is a manifestation of mostly 'black and white' thinking, and exaggerated and reinforced 'us versus them' mentality and almost complete lack of understanding of what atheism really is and especially what's beyond their own limited scope and view of the world. Not all christians are like this of course.
@xxSilverPhinxx I think that's a very valid point. Certainly not all believers are atheism-phobic, but too many. The distrust level is at 40%, that's pretty darn high and studies show that it is not out of experience but lack of experience. The more believers are familiar with non-believers personally the less likely they are averse.
Are you familiar with terror management theory? That also explains a bit why theists exacerbate their hate and distrust of atheists under certain conditions - especially those which remind them too much of death. Let's face it, we remind them of no afterlife.
@xxSilverPhinxx Sure that's part of it, but studies give little evidence that the concrete form of that is responsible. Or to put it differently, fear of a "nihilistic atheistic world" with all sorts of claimed negative implication is preached by apologists and preachers quite a bit. But that's an amorphous fear that does not actually relate to people engaging with actual atheists, it's a kind of fear-mongering and given the evidence not a reaction to personal experience.
I can do with my time what I want, can eat and drink what I want and can wear what I want. I don't worry about 24/7 thought control or the consequences of not prostrating or not praying.
I don't worship stones and don't throw them at others. I just patiently wait for religions to go where they belong: a museum.
I'm neither angry nor afraid when it comes to the rights of others to believe or not believe in souls and science. Religion and science aren't, in my view, at odds. One deals with the physical and the other the spiritual. A person can think about both without dismissing one or the other. Tolerance should be accorded to others at a higher level than what you perceive they accord it to you. That, rather than treating people with different views as aggressors, will further all humanity.
If we don't limit human behaviors then corporations can destroy wealth. We can be raped in public under the guise of safety for our own good by sex criminals in the airport. We cannot morally assess the actions of others? So radical homosexuals can sexually harass heteros?
@dgdfhfghgfhgfgffjhj I think that's a very valid comment. However believers routinely deny an atheist's world view yet we don't expect them to be very angry just for that. I think being used to having one's world view challenged is a part of it (along with other factors).
Theists can derive meaning from their worldview and positive belief system and often do whereas an atheistic worldview is not something that meaning can be derived from (since in reality it's a statement of absence). It's way easier for them to get angry and fearful when their beliefs are challenged. Those are pearls they don't want to throw to the pigs, you might say.
I call myself atheist specifically for the ignorant conflation of the term with immorality. It's a litmus test for who is actually thinking critically.
@harrignos Yeah all atheists are criminals: that explains why in Europe, in which the majority of people are atheists, the prisons are filled to the brim with... Muslims.
@SpellboundSolution Well, it's not like that. It's true that our jails, like in everyone else in the word have over 90% of believers, and that most people is rather lay and not as many people practices their religion, the majority are still believers.
And jails are not filled with muslims. We have also gypsies, professional criminals from western europe, energumens from south America and even shameful people from our own countries.
@SpellboundSolution There has never been suicide bombings in my country, and other kinds of bombing never worked as a measure to change anyobody's mind, and you, sir, are a troll.
@MithranArkanere OK then let's be pedantic: in 2004 al-Qaeda bombed your country into voting for liberal pussies that support them just when you when you were finally about to elect the right party.

I think the anti-atheist sentiment is as much a matter of anger as fear.
People get very angry when you deny their world view. Tell a 9/11 "truther" that you aren't convinced by their arguments, and their brains boil.
