  • And that, kids, is why I'm a vinyl man.

  • Ive always found the cds of metallica way to softy

  • @MrDemilord With me I just normalise all my stuff in Windows Media Player when I'm playing, so it doesn't really bother me when doing a playlist or so.

  • This was so great i had to listen to the whole thing. Great job on the solo, love it

  • That album hurt my ears.

  • Oh shit, this is hilarious

  • The vocals sounds like the cover that Dream Theater made of this song.

  • NICE!!! This vocalist sounds familiar! By any chance, is/was he in Grave Digger, who did a KILLER cover of Dio's "We Rock", on Holy Dio/A Tribute To The Voice Of Metal-Ronnie James Dio?

  • how did you changed the text??

  • is this real? i can't believe how good it is

  • Comment removed

  • LMAO

  • hilarious!

  • I really want a high-res image of the "MoP" cover with "RIP Dynamics" etc. written on it. Where can I find that and the other funny Rubinesque covers?

  • People should learn what mastering is! haha Ted Jensen did not master this album to clip, this was done during the mixing with Rubin and Greg Fidelman. Jensen was given a product to master with guide lines, just like every mastering house on earth. Do what the label wants, "make it loud".

  • jajaja toda la razonnnn que triste

  • Rubin is going to produce Black Sabbath`s comeback album.

    Start praying.

  • @mariocbg and the new metallica album too =)

  • Should note that the sound quality of Death Magnetic is RICK RUBIN'S fault, and NOT Ted Jensen, the mastering engineer (who has disassociated himself with the album and openly stated he is not proud of it). Rick Rubin is like the evil emperor of the loudness war. (almost) everything he produces sounds like shit, from Audioslave to Metallica.

  • @ScrapBrainMusic oh wow, this video pretty much spoke my mind, should've watched it first. Well played, not enough people give Rubin the backlash he deserves!

  • @ScrapBrainMusic

read, it says just that when Ted's picture comes up.

  • @blodstroem aye, hence why I corrected myself right after posting that, haha.

  • @ScrapBrainMusic he did produce "Reign of Blood", though... I suppose he has just lost his touch. Or maybe he just doesn't care. I don't know. "Reign of Blood" was sonically awesome, even if I don't like Slayer all that much...

  • "gate and you will see, more and more dB" that is fuckin gold

  • Only two comments mentioning Flemming Rasmussen, and only one mentioning the famous Dave Mustaine. Not one about poor Cliff, the last true member of Metallica.

  • ha ha ha, love it :)

  • Rob, you shirt is out of season, hahaha!!! LOL

  • are you marxx? hahahaha

  • jajajajajaja i love mastered jajajajaja

  • An awesome track, guys. This is how DM should sound, and how Metallica should play nowadays.

  • post the damn lyrics in the vid description for fucksakes

  • BIG 4!

    MEGADETH

    ANTHRAX

    SLAYER

    CLIPPING DEATH

  • Sounds like Dave Mustaine singing...

    X-D

  • "Rob your shirt is out of season", lol. But seriously, nice playing guys, you should just re-record Death Magnetic so we can enjoy proper mixes.

  • Haha, this is great. :D

  • @grisflyt Yes, because you, random Youtuber, are obviously more influental to the music scene.

    Grow up.

  • @GoodGuitarSolos I am not influential and never said I was, muppet. I was simply stating a fact.

Whoever mastered this is a talentless hack. And the band members are idiots for putting out severely compressed and distorted music. Of course, the biggest idiots of all are the undiscriminating fools paying for it. Metallica 1, fanboys 0.

By the way. You can compress without clipping the signal. This is equal to taking a photo of Heidi Klum or Tyra Banks and then cut off their heads and feets.

  • @GoodGuitarSolos your reading abilities seem to be on a 3rd year level. I never said anything about compression. Everybody uses limiters. In Metallica's case. it's not a matter of using compression, but abusing compression.

I criticized the Metallica fanboys more than Metallica. The fact that some Metallica fans complained about this crap proves that not all Metallica fans are idiots. But the vast majority is. I don’t care what sub-intellects like you think about anything. You’re a tool.

  • @grisflyt Your arguementing skills seem to be on 3rd year level. I'm not even sure why you got so hellishly upset but you seem to be the tool here. Good day, fruitface.

  • @grisflyt Well said!

  • @grisflyt Bravo freind well said.

  • @walkiie Dynamic range in metal? You must be joking. If you think that metal should sound dynamically, then you automatically offer all metal bands not using distortion with their guitars :-D

  • Funny vid, could have left the "Fix me!" line right before the solo alone though, it makes sense...

  • @ExilLarkdanx I think just "Albums sell faster" would fit pretty good, too.

  • from description:

"Felix Neumann (Machines & Madness) - Fast guitar solo/ video editing /laughter"

so.. laughing is an actual function..?

  • THIS IS AMAZIN\G XD

  • Loved the Waves L3 shit!

  • Hahah that's most amazing thing ever :D

  • St. Anger was a disaster piece (of shit) as well. That was a poorly mixed album, that snare drum, sadly is all i have ever remembered from that album. Ohh and, Lars is a bitching, whinging old man.

  • Comment removed

  • Make another Song called: 'Getting Sells Matters' :D

  • @YkcohsPeacedrake Yeah xD

  • Hah, just noticed the "Parent Advisory: Abysmal Content" label. :D

  • This song is in Jari Mäenpää's favorite videos ;) (JmetalTube = his youtube account)

  • fuck this

  • LOL

    LOUD AND REALLY LOUD

  • 10/10

  • oOH MY GOD! THE END!

  • @zampination I'm sorry mate but 2 things. Firstly, if you are studying sound engineering and think that Death Magnetic has good mastering than you will fail your course. Even the mastering engineer on DM (one of the most respected engineers on the planet) said he was embarrassed to have his name on it. Secondly, DM was a multi-million dollar album... this was made for free. And I'll tell you what I like to listen to in meta, sonically speakingl: fucking dynamics.

  • @dangoldsworthy1 the point is that you want to hear dynamics in other styles of music rather than metal nowadays... like classical music for example... I even don't like the clipping sound that music has addopted in the 00's... He was embarassed but if he didn't do it someone else would be hired to do it... the record companies are the boss unfortunatelly and if they want you to do something you just do it!!! there's no other option... If anyone can change that, those are the artists and only...

  • @zampination

Hahaha good luck on that music tech course, you're gonna need it.

  • Very impressive, well done guy's.

  • When I first saw this it has 3,000views lol, and it's still epic.

Can't believe Rick Rubin gets to ruin another record for Metallica, and fucking lars says he doens't hear a problem

  • Ultimately though, I take the piss out of Rubin because I don't think he actually did a very good production job. Death Magnetic has got a bunch of good riffs and ideas in it, but the songs are still too long (don't need 3 or 4 verses unless the riffs are as sick as AJFA). Rubin is all about "the vibe". Metallica don't need that if they want to reclaim that 84-91 attitude... they need someone metal-as-fuck like Colin Richardson or Andy Sneap kicking their asses back into shape.

  • Guys, Rubin was the PRODUCER of this album NOT the MIXING TECH. nor the MASTERING TECH. He just helped Metallica to choose the best songs and riffs among the ones they came up with. Thats what he does when he is producing, unlike many other producer that mixes the bands they are producing as well. The guys that came up with the "cliping death" mastering was probably Metallica themselves or some A&R.

  • Comment removed

  • @HiHatHor - I know this mate. It was Ted Jensen who mastered it, and it wasn't even his fault as the mix he got was already brickwalled to hell when he got it. But I still take the piss out of him in the vid. The chances are it was Lars, bless him, that thought being really loud would be a good idea. But maybe it was Rubin's during the production stage? I doubt it though, but I also doubt it was the mix engineer's idea to clip it so badly.

  • Best way to get the message across, congrats :)

  • DUDE, you are a genius! :D

  • @blackmustang728

This is not a hate vid. (Other than hating the fact that poor mastering ruined Death Magentic). As 99% of people understand, this is simply satire.

Metallica (and specifically James) have been my biggest musical influence for about 16 or 17 years now. Anyone with half a brain can hear that by listening to the effort that went into the song.

P.S. I'll get round to finishing Enter Soundman soon...

  • No you look cool tooooooooooooooooooooo! That voice is actually great

  • haha well done and just a guess, not a fan of Rubin and what he did with Death Magnetic??

  • BEARDED BASTARD

  • 1:47

"I'm TED JENSEN if you did'nt already know. I have ginger pubes)

  • In 1:56 you said "can't see a thing" instead of "can't hear a thing."

  • It was funny, but tbh I never cared about the audio quality/mixing, I just liked the music

  • This needs more VIEWSSSSSS!!!!!

  • funny as hell, and yes RR should not touch any more music while he still draws breath... Metallica needs a good sound again (get the guy who does Maiden's albums)... and not by this guy...

    Clipping Death rocks btw.

  • your a fucking hater, u just ruined one of the best songs in metal history

  • @blackmustang728 lol how'd he ruin it? this is hilarious and it brings up the good point that Death Magnetic had a sucky ass mix

  • @blackmustang728 lol you don't understand the purpose of the video do you? Way to show how ignorant you are when it comes to music/recording. It's making fun of the fact that Rick Rubin and Metallica suck ass at mixing/mastering their music. They torch the quality by pushing everything to max volume/loudnes. Makes it sounds like static bullshit.

  • @wyldefan00 no, i just understand that this is a hate vid, and u guys are a bunch of trolls and haters, why make fun of a legendary band, when u can make fun of justin bieber or whatever

  • @blackmustang728 Well, you fail at reading comprehension and understanding satirism. There are no trolls or haters like you claim. You're just a dumbass kid who takes shit too seriously.

  • @wyldefan00 Wise words there. This is absolutely brilliant.

  • @blackmustang728 nah that would be avril lavigne attempt at playing ''Fuel'',lol

  • This is great lol

  • Solo was better than Hammett's rofl.

  • Very well done \m/ so funny totally ace.

  • lawl

  • ROFL

  • 6:58 LOL!!!!!!!!

  • Fucking Vocals are beast.

  • mastered! MASTERED!

  • How about Buttery?

  • MAKE ENTER SOUNDMAN!!!

  • "offspring of Rob Zombie and Rasputin" Bahaha!

  • Rick Rubin doesn't actually do any knob twiddling or engineering. He just sits in the back wearing flip-flops giving general creative guidance. For years I thought he was the genius responsible for the amazing mixing on Reign in Blood but he wasn't.

  • This is funny considering listening to Death Magnetic has given me Tinnitus.

  • nailed it. i was with metallica from metal up your ass. then after the black album they really went shitty. black album was on the edge. the reason they were metallica cause they were anti mainstream they were cool as shit. they need to get back to what made them

  • @yappertrap I dont mind them now... but how do u go back to unmainstream? And if they enver went mainstream, I doubt many of us would know them by now

  • I don't know what you guys are complaining about. DM wasn't THAT loud! Now where are my hearing aids....

  • so glad mute is available

  • epic!

  • Hey Rubin, this is how Metallica's records should really sound like. Congrats for the great version, mixing and mastering.

  • One of the best vids on youtube.

  • this is stupid, when you said master of muppets, WHERE THE FUCK IS THERE ANYTHING ABOUT MUPPETS? YOUR JUST A FATASS TALKING ABOUT COMPUTERS

  • Hilarious.. although it was Metallica's own decision. Some sound engineer dealing with the mastering made a comment about it (can't remember name).. and even without him saying his hands were tied a sound engineer would never find a job if he'd do mastering jobs like this so it's kind of no need to argue about it as the argument isn't working. If someone that worked on it said it'll sound great it's most likely just to keep his Metallica buddies happy.

  • Sheer class, best video i've ever seen on YouTube.

I'm doing a study on the loudness war and this sums it up perfectly.

    Good job.

  • 31 people are metallica, bob rock, rubin and the poor sound engineers

  • hahahaha lmfao "kirk adds wha whithout a reason" jajajajajajaja i love this lyrics

  • fucking awesome lyrics! :D

  • lol it took me until the 4 minute mark to realize clipping death= creeping death xD

  • The only way to fix this problem IS KILL FUCKING BOB ROCK!

  • No way, Bob produced the Black album and it's rock.

Rubins the man you need in your sights.

  • @dougfatheruk Bob Rock is exactly what changed Metallica from Thrash Metal to Hard Rock. After the Black Album is when things became abit messed up. Thank god for Robert Trujillo during Death Magnetic, another reason why it sounds great because Bob didn't produce it and its THRASH Metal. I mean, I can admit Black Album was pretty sick but Kill Em All, Ride The Lightning, Master Of Puppets, And Justice for All and Death Magnetic were their best albums, because once again...They are THRASH Metal!

  • @WatchPlayDownload Nah... DM was a good attempt... but it's nowhere near their classical albums. On the other hand, bands like Overkill, Venom, Slayer, Motorhead and Megadeth still have it. Their albums compete with their own standards

  • @0intelligence0 Lol yah DM isn't like Metallica's albums, but it doesn't try to be and it's amazing in it's own way. And saying that Endgame or UA is anything close to Peace Sells or Rust in Peace is hilarious.

  • @emjcohen It's actually WAY closer than DM is to Metallica's classic albums.

  • one dB FS pwns....

  • 2:08 , 2:32 LOL

6:43 to 7:09 the reason why I hate Death Magnetic so much. I honestly don't care about the loudness. I would not blame Rubin for DM, I blame Metallica.

And I hate Bob Cock a lot more.

  • it should bob rock in that electric chair...

  • One dB Full Scale !!!! Genius!

  • Stop moaning! loud guitars and great riffs are ace. There's too much music out there to spend debating the detail of the production unless its complete weak shit, which i really dont think DM is. This sound is making me laught, its put me off what i was saying. I wonder if all the people moaning about DM still listen to it- i bet they do! If not, then there's plenty of other stuff out there, quite the crying.

  • @FuturedaveyP I'm pretty sure the people moaning about DM are not listening to it, because that album is completely fucking unlitsenable at any volume setting.

For all the people who don't see anything wrong with DM; dig out your original CDs of Ride The Lightning or Black Album and compare it to DM. Which do you find more pleasing to listen to? Which one makes you want to turn the music up and not down?

  • @FetaCheese222 Well i think they are missing out on some great songs there. To me it blasts out the speakers- i love noise, always have, always will. I also love sweet delicate music too, so its not an ear problem i have haha. I love the sound of the black album, and Ride. Thing with Ride, and Justice for that matter, i got used to the sound of those on Viynal (sorry that spelling is terrible!) so to me the cds never sounded like i 'knew' them. Still, i take both for what they are n love them.

  • @FuturedaveyP I cant see how a true metal head (dont bite my head off there!) can not want to just turn DM up. If you play electric guitar surely you wack your amp up and turn the distortion and bass up and have tried to get the dirtiest sound possible at some point......and loved it!!! haha, im just crazy for sound. Its amazing. i love my ears, as daft as they look on the sides of my head.

  • Brilliant, just brilliant.

  • I don't see what people found wrong with the album.

    It sounded fine to me...

  • @DEFINEMETALisBACK -- Some people are very purist about it. For instance, the more silent part of the song is load unpropotionally with the rest of the song; it erases the dynamics -- the variation in volume on the angry and mellow parts. Do you catch my drift? It makes the song really loud, and thus making it easily heard on the radio. Ever noticed how electo-pop songs are unreasonably loud when the volume is moderate on other kinds of music?

  • @sfaune92 I get your point, but it sounded ok to me, i noticed some flaws, but it didn't stop me from enjoying the album.

  • And the grave stone with "R.I.P. Dynamics" written on it at the beginning it's "Sad But True"... Sorry for the limerick, I just couldn't resist... XD

  • 28 People like Climping

  • Hah! This is class....

  • "LARS AINT WORTH ALL THAT"

"KIRK ADDS "WAH" WITHOUT A REASON"

"ROB, YOUR SHIRT IS OUT OF SEASON" (SCREW THOSE GUYS I LOOK SWEET)

i laughed by those lines XD

  • I Love Metallica, AND I FCKING LOVE THIS!

  • BASTARD! QUIETER! YOU DUMB MOTHERFUCKERS!

  • i love metallica but this is fuckin classic hilarity!!!!!

  • This thing will never gets old...

  • Clipping Death is some kind of Wreid al Yankovic

  • GENIUS.

  • GENIUS. Nothing more to add. :-D

  • TRUE TRUE

  • I miss the rolling thundering pumping bass of Cliff... We all made a promise we let him rust in peace... But this is shit (although I found the lyrics funny)...

  • @Kingondahill no sir, this, is awsome

  • fuck this shit. metallica does this live, who cares what they do in the studio?

  • @rokvidfan

so whenever i want to listen to a band, i just book them, and they come within 5 minutes and give me a personal live concert?

    fuck YOUR shit.

  • @MagicHandedAlex that's not what i meant you brainless moron, i meant they don't need to clip their music, they do it live, it's awesome by itself, you can't fix music to your ear liking when you're live, so still, fuck this shit.

  • Metallica would sound better if they went back to Flemming Rasmussen

  • @blacksabbathfan007 Yeah that, and taping up Lars' mouth.

  • I like Death Magnetic, but It's genial !!!!!!

  • Excellent!

  • guitar sounds so much more bad ass then the actual version although this makes fun of metallica

  • Very well produced. Could use some extra limmiting though :D

  • Ahahahahahah LOVE IT!!!

  • At clipping deaths myspace says that "peak and destroy" and "mastered by muppets" would be out on itunes scince yesterday... I can't find it XD; was it a joke?

  • you know, this sounds ten thousand times better than anything theyve done since ajfa.

over compensating for crappy music by making it louder? no, ill still just turn it off.
