I don't like using the elbow i'd parry the punch in a different direction use the other arm to move it the other way and back fist with the hand your parryed with.... but this still looks cool to I just got

He can't be a cop. I've never heard a cop even mention excessive force let alone advise against it.

Can you really defend against a sucker punch? The only way I can think of is if you aren't standing that close to someone who wants to punch you.

@AnbuProd I studied and taught Tang Soo Do for years. I think the only way to defend against a sucker punch is to expect and be ready for anything.

After he deflects the punch, I don't know why he takes the extra step of getting his left hand in the mix that early. His right arm, elbow and body are in position and cocked ready to be drive the elbow into the face or chest,

@toolmkr1 I agree with you, I don't know much about Tang Soo Do because I practice Aikido so the answer that my master have tought me is quite different. In aikido I have let the guy come to me by guiding his hand in front of my chest than extend my left arm to his face and make him fall with his own strengh since he's coming at me.

@KennnedyKenn Direct him with his wrist. I promise you, if you bend his wrist in the proper way, he's going to comply, cause he's feeling like his wrist is gonna break at any moment(which you can easily do if you put enough force in to it, though if you're in law enforcement, that would probably be frowned upon). If you're in law enforcement, just hold the wrist long enough for backup to arrive. You have all the power here, he has none.

If a civilian were to use the lethal force blow in self defense, we wouldnt be held liable? I understand police are keepers of the peace, not pain givers, but would someone non gov pull this off without any turned heads in the court room (should it elevate to that)?

You CAN'T defend against a sucker puch because you don't see it coming! Hence the term "Sucker Punch".. The best way to deal with that is always keep people in your field of vision and don't look away from anyone in a confrontation!

Nice moves anyway - I think people have different understanding of what a sucker punch is.. ^_^

just copy boxing. and also unless he stands in a massive low stance you won't naturally be able to step through his legs with yorus and curl your foot round under pressure from sucker punch.
