  • Also, this is the bitless bridle that most resembles ours in the Spanish countryside. Quite funny to see guys on the other side of the ocean with the same stuff. Go a step further and check "monturas vaqueras" for me the most comfortable saddles, but a bit more breaking to do to get the tail into that tail strap.I see you guys are very receptive so another one, don't you find it safer to bend his head to you to get up,avoid straight flight cos walking in circles is no danger in comparison?GD LK!

  • Hey great stuff! I agree with some being ridden at about 2.5 yrs. In the countryside in Spain it's normal to bring them in from semi-wild conditions at 3.5 yrs untouched to start them, but on occasions when you get an unsually big or strong one you do what you did at 2.5 yrs and after 3 or 4 short rides let him go back to the mountains or fields. I'm no pro but still learning but don't you ride him bareback first (easier&safer gettino on/off)? I do that with mine and friends when taming.

  • WHY ARE YOU RIDING A 2 AND A HALF YEAR OLD HORSE??!!

  • We ride them for just this brief time at this age, then throw them back in the field to grow up for a year or two. It makes it easier when you want to actually train them.

  • @NurturalHorse hmm...still to early their bones aren't properly set. we start them at three and turn away until nearly four. if that was the case he shouldn't be having a bunch of different people on him.

  • Well, he's six years old now and healthy as a horse! He's a pretty solid boy.

But thankyou sincerely for being so concerned about horses. Don't you wish everyone was!

Just curious ... are you bitless?

  • @NurturalHorse okay-glad he's healthy.

was that serious or sarcasm? ..but yes i do i've seen some awful treatment of them :/

no i'm not but i'm looking into going bitless because i rode my mare in a hackamore once and she went beautifully. that's how i found this video, i was trying to see if there area any benefits of going bitless. i'm going treeless too!

  • Not sarcasm! But I should have said so, as I thought you may wonder.

I am treeless now too! And bitless. The horses are so much calmer and happier.

    Cheers!

  • Our youngsters never shake their heads like that on a first ride or try and duck their heads (2:40 - 2:58). Do you think the horse may have been a little uncofortable and confused. I do. This horse was very under prepared in the control department. When you hauled an his head to get it back up and for a while afterward he was obviously uncofortable. If you really care about these horses ditch the toy saddle and get one that fits. All I saw was people stealing rides on a pet.

  • @Horseman43

Interesting how so many people watch the same video and see such different things. I was there and did not see what you did. Nor did most other people.

  • Hi! Yes we do have a 30 day satisfaction guarantee for the Nurtural Bitless. If you and your horse are not smiling after 30 days (and after asking us to help) you get 90% of your money back. There is a new FAQ page at our site that has videos answering all the big questions, like "Will my horse stop?" and "How long doe it take to go Nurtural?" Also a recent lecture handout of "Bitless Bridle - flash in the pan or paradigm shift?"

  • i ride my 4 yr old quarter horse in a bit, and he does very well, and im sticking wiht it FOR NOOOOWW just because im young and am still learning, and so is he, and i was wondering, do you guys have like, a trial period? where we see how it works, then if it doesn work the way we like, we send it back? i think thats the problem by the way, some people like hte way a bit, or something else works BETTER, maybe they get just a little more contrl and security out of something else :) thanks in advance

  • My OTTB rides perfect in the Nutural. He hasn't worn a bit since I have total control. I just trained an OTTStBred and I have never used a bit iys been over a year an shes always worked great in it. I plan on training my unbroke arabian this spring and she will never wear a bit If it doesn't work, you are doing something wrong or you just cannot ride properly

  • small saddle

  • My mare wont stop in the nurtural

  • I ride all my horses in plain old rope halters, I even trained a mare in one, I rode her after only working with her for about 6 hours. My step dad used to try to ride her but he always rode her with a D-ring snaffle and she always bucked him off and now she HATES him and will run away and push all the horses so they all run away from him too. He wants to sell my gorgeous little mare because of his ignorance. :@

  • My horses wouldn't haunch turn nor stop in the bitless

  • @swiftnshift Hi, Which bitless did you try? They are not all the same.

  • @NurturalHorse Bridletn or Bridletm. I can't remember I threw it out sorry

  • One of my students bought a nutural horse bridle, and I told her to get her money back. We both tried it on all 8 of my horses both trained and green, and we found the horses did not turn, nor did they stop well. I guess we're sticking with the D rings and Mechanical Hackamores.

  • Hi. It's interesting that the Nurtural works beautifully for thousands of other horses, but not for any of yours. We guarantee success and go to great lengths to help our clients. How often did you or your student call or email us? Did you send us photos to confirm you are fitting the bridle correctly? Whenever we fit the Nurtural on horses in our videod live challenges, EVERY horse does better. I wonder if you did something wrong in using the bridle or fitting it properly! Zoe

  • @NurturalHorse Hi, I think the reason it won't work on my horses is because ot turns their head. It puts pressure like a halter, My horses are used to all leg. Stopping was hell, I had one horse at a lope in the Nutural and I ended up having to do an emergency dismount. it scared him. Because there was no capability to turn his head, I had no other choice. I DID try one rein stopping. I also tried ajusting it in different spots, high, low, in between, etc. I ride in a rope halter very often.

  • @HeartsNHooves

The point is - if you have a problem, call us when you have it and we can help. We would have asked for photos of the fitting on the horse and given you a couple simple exercises. It is not fair to trash our bridle in a public forum when you did not give us the opportunity to solve the problem. Horses do understand and respond to the Nurtural. We are dedicated to helping people with problems. But you need to contact us before you give up and send it back.

  • @NurturalHorse My point is, Its not right to say that EVERY HORSE is going to work in this bridle. My student paid too much for it and is planning on buying a regular hackamore seeing that it was not her choice to buy it. Her aunt forced her to. Not every horse will work well in a certain bridle. Mine dont work well in this bridle. theyre trail horses, for commercial use. Its the exact same thing as saying that every horse will work well in a hackamore. Some horses need the extra controle.

  • @HeartsNHooves

Horses turn and stop very well when the bridle is fitted properly. Had you contacted us, we would have asked for photos and given you a couple simple exercises to solve your problem. It is not fair to trash our bridle in a public forum without ever contacting us for help. Kaylen & Richard Spooner had a similar turning problem. We fixed it for them & he came second in the million dollar class at Spruce Meadows. You gave up and grumbled. They won.

  • @HeartsNHooves

.... and if your horses use all leg, how could the bridle confuse them? It sits loosely with zero pressure. What's confusing about that?

If they are used to all leg, how did the bridle turn their head?? Oh wait ... later you say there was no capability to turn their head.

We are confused; no wonder they were! Zoe & Gerry!

For anyone reading: The Nurtural works great if you fit it properly and then simply ride as you always ride.

  • My name is James i love people who know how to train a horse.

some thick thay know but don't.

    I really like this video.

  • You are very fortunate that he is a kind, forgiving, and tolerant horse. One with just a little bit of an attitude would have dumped you on your butt because you have zero control over his head.

  • Please turn off that dreadful music!

  • Wow , thats amazing. I am planning on training a horse in the sumer for my first time, and would really liek to se this bridle. Was it the first time that yo put it on this horse? Any advice?

  • Hi Zoe, I believe you. I backed my 3 yr old arab x this spring & because she's been well handled & introduced to lots of things, trusts us & didn't bat an eyelid. I nearly cried the 1st time I sat on her & butter didn't melt! She had been longlined out for a year in her cross under bridle. Now riding beautifully in it.

You can tell things are new to paxton in this vid because he looks unbalanced & unsure about everything but he's trusting so he accepts what's going on. Beautiful boy. Jo :-) x

  • u can so tell hes had a saddle and saddle pad. but hes a BEAUTIFUL stallion

  • Hmmmm. I get a little miffed when people call me a liar. There were lots of people there that weekend, and tons more who know us and Paxton, who can collaborate that this horse had never seen a saddle pad or sadlle before. He is just a well handled and lovingly nurtured horse. Zoe

  • @amybug678 thats ridiculous, how can you say you can tell he's seen a saddle and saddle pad before, my filly was acting as calm as these guys the first day I rubbed her all over with a saddle and saddle pad you just have to train them to investigate rather than hesitate ^___^

  • nice "ad" for bitless bridle. i highly doubt that the horses took their "first" riders so easy because of the bitless bridle. it all depends on the preparation and training beforehand. the bridle wouldn't keep the horse from bucking when you would saddle them up or getting on. but anyone who has worked with a green horse would realize that. just not the novice/naive rider. nice try

  • The video shows the truth. Of couse the horse had a high "ERA" - he was Eager to please, Repectfull and Attentive. Why would you fight a horse you have not taken time to prepare? The bitless makes it so much easier. Would you prefer to hurt them with a bit? Zoe

  • the first part is a lie! never seen a saddle before? but you prepared him before the video by taking "small steps in the stall each might, starting with the saddle blanket and then graduating to the saddle." how does the bitless make it so much easier for them to accept a saddle or rider, which is what you trying to lead people to believe? if you know how to use a bit correctly, it doesn't hurt them. but many don't

  • Sorry. I do not understand your confusion or your passion for bits. There are no lies in the video. This horse had NEVER seen a saddle pad or a saddle. was the first time he was ever in the round pen. This was the first time he was ever ridden.

This site is intended for nurturing, not arguing. If you continue to make such false accusations and sing the prasies of bits, I will remove oyur posts and block you as a user. Sorry - go talk to someone who likes the medieval bit. Zoe

  • i am not praising bits and i am not argueing that the bitless is bad. the one thing that i am trying to understand, which i have asked before, how does the bitless bridle make the horse accept a saddle and rider for the first time, which IS what you are implying in the video. you even said that no piece of equipment will train a horse. it's in preparation which i agree. but then you say you didn't prepare him. that's what i'm calling you out on! any way, have a nice day. cuz you don't get it

  • The Nurtural Bridle keeps the horse calm and happy and cooperative compared to a bit. We used to start our horses in rope halters as you do. We find the Nurtural Bitless gives more control for leading, training and riding. That is what we find and it is reproduced by the people who use it. Perhaps one day you will try it and see. There are independent reviews posted at our site. Nice chatting! Zoe

  • @NurturalHorse "If you continue to...sing the prasies of bits, I will remove oyur posts and block you as a user." Because someone disagrees with you, you're going to remove their posts and block them? Rather than deleting these posts, why not take the opportunity to discuss the bitless over the bit.

  • Thats cool.. :P

  • That was wonderful. I liked the fact that he was rubbing the saddle all over him and used "join up" as a foundation. This is good training, right here, y'all.

  • That sand sure is deep. A bit too deep for my liking. Nice horse though.

  • The owner of the barn where I board breeds Canadian horses and rides his stallions bitless. They are very well trained and responsive.

  • Thats a really beautiful horse! And hes looks really nice with that saddle. Those are some really good wranglers

  • Thanks for your comments! We spend a lot of time with our stallion, and he is a big baby. Do you have a round pen?? That makes a huge difference! We also take small steps in the stall each might, starting with the saddle blanket and then graduating to the saddle. Best of luck!! Zoe

  • Whoa...wait a minute. I swear that the video says that it took place in 1.5 hours. so that's not a consecutive time but split up over many days? Also, it says that he had not seen a saddle or had worn the bridle before. so how long ago was that part filmed? seems to me you're leading people on to sell your training or bridle

  • It took place in one day, 1.5 hours or less. Lots of witnesses. Why do you doub lt?

How on earth is showing clips from an amazing 1.5 hour training session of our bridle in our back yard with our stallion leading anybody on?

The horse is happy. The people are happy. Why do you have such a problem with this?

  • the way i understand the video is that in 1.5 hours, the horse went from not ever seeing the saddle or bridle, to having a rider or multiple riders because of the bridle. that's what is misleading

  • I am sorry you misunderstood. We never said or intended to imply that.

It went BETTER because of the bridle.

No piece of equipment will ever train your horse! Zoe

  • OMG!!! How did he do that? Can I borrow that guy? My stallion REFUSES to have anything to do with a saddle pad or saddle. I have tried so many times. I had it hanging in his stall for a month and a half I even gave him treats to eat off of it to make him assosicate it with something good. It never worked though, out of the 10 tries I've done I've only gotten it on him 3 times. And ALL of then resulted into me holding onto his halter going for a run LOL.

  • Paxton is a good name for a horse

  • omg i want that round yard!!!!

    nice horse too lol

  • ok so i trained my 2.5 year old qh filly to ride. when i first started to train her she would rear up at me. but know she is rideing walk trot canter with no problum she. when i fisrt stated to train her to the bridle i stated bu hooking reins to her halter and did some flexing with her to ease up her mouth alitle then i put a snaffle on her and did the same thing that way when i got on her i wouldnt be pullin on her mouth like you were with your stallion..

  • mmhmm a good and nice horse, but i don't like you pull that hard in the mouth, he's quite jong en it isn't far for your horse when you do that, so please be nice! But the training was great, good job.

  • when i was breakin my horse i couldnt get him 2 walk. haha he never did buck with me either. i love blaze

  • Amazing that horse wasn't spookish at all! I have a young two year old filly that is scared of everything any tips? She doesn't even like saddle pads when I hang them on her door and she is VERY spirited. She is an appenidx quarter horse.

  • wow... thats all i got to say wooooooooooooooooow

  • Great horse but I would'nt start walking firt , latural flextion of the head and after the body that commes over would be better :)

  • Thanks! We do a of of prep work before we take them to the round pen. This boy was handled every day from when we got him at 6 months - a few minutes every night in the barn. I constantly tell him ""I'm biggert han you are!" and he keeps believing it! We had hardly ever even led him until that day.

    Zoe

  • thats a good horse my horse went carzy!!!

  • very nice horse well done with the training!!!

  • your stallion is amazing and so beautiful you are sooo lucky

  • wow im surprised the horse didnt freak out!!

  • wow!, wonderful stallion!!!!!!

  • Wow! U r brilliant u must be VERY good! Expecially it being a stallion! I loved ur Join-up expecially! :D

  • great way to introduce riding

  • What I find difficult is to ride a horse properly in a bit as most just do not like them. My arabian stallion does everything I ask in a rope halter or cordeo. It all has to do with clear communication. Nice work T

  • Nice join up technique, nice round pen work, and especially with the stallion, it shows that you guys are very in to making the horse comfortable. Still, I'm more of a believer in putting a good 30 days of round pen work, long lining and ground driving before getting on a young horse...it seems "gimicky" to try and go so fast...I think that more ground work makes a better end product.

  • two years old is too young. His bones are not mature enough.

  • Good point. But Hi At 2 & 1/2, after examining his knees, we were confident he could handle this short lesson. He hasn't been ridden since - just growing up and being beutiful (and admiring his babies)! Zoe

  • you are a good example around the world to horse trainors especially stallions!! WELL DONE!! amazing u must be very good !! and you are certainly very good people!

  • Wow! Thank you so much for your very kind words. We are backyard horselovers who have only had horses 10 years. We want to reach out and share the little we have learned with those who are farther back on this marvelous path of discovery. Zoe

  • OK so at the time of the video, you had 10 years experience. I only have 3, but i am also training our 3 y.o. bitless. Except I'm using a rope halter. Really what it takes to train a horse is consistency and patience, not any special gadgets or halters or bridles

  • It takes a little more that consistency and patiece - a bit of skill and understanding helps too. We started in rope halters. We progressed. The people who showjump, do dressage and compete in other disciplines cannot do that in a rope halter. The Nurtural Bitless gives more control and more finesse. Maybe you will try one one day instead of just lashing out at what you do not know. But thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts! Zoe

  • so this video isn't about the stallion's FIRST ride but his first ride using the bitless bridle. I'm sorry for the misunderstanding but the video leads you to believe it's his very FIRST ride. please forgive me

  • Sorry. I do not understand your confusion or your passion for bits. There are no lies in the video. This horse had NEVER seen a saddle pad or a saddle. This was the first time he was ever in the round pen. This was the first time he was ever ridden.

This site is intended for nurturing, not arguing. If you continue to make such false accusations and sing the prasies of bits, I will remove oyur posts and block you as a user. Sorry - go talk to someone who likes the medieval bit. Zoe

  • In the video it says "The horse had never seen a saddle" yet in one of your comments you say "We also take small steps in the stall each might, starting with the saddle blanket and then graduating to the saddle." I think what you mean is the horse has never 'worn' a saddle, not the horse had never seen a saddle. Also, of course a horse who's seen a saddle and pad before and has gotten used to it will accept it more willingly than a horse who hasn't; despite the bridle having a bit or not.

  • Nice to see another one who´s training stallions without a bit :) All this nonsense about stallions that they are some wild and dangerous creatures, makes me sick.
