Don't kid yourself. That's accounting for evil the way credit card companies write off identity theft, and governments talk about a "negligible loss of lives" of this or that military action (Henry Kissinger).
Right is right, wrong is wrong-- it has been thus since Sun Ra, Budda, Moses, Christ, and Muhammad; and way before Cane killed Able.
Morality is not written in stone, people are free to choose their own course of life. If you want to believe that their is an ultimate morality then go ahead but it's mankind that determines what is right and what is wrong.
Mankind? And who is Mankind? Is it Joe Stalin, or maybe St. Augustine, or is it people who stand by watching like a spectators at a dog fight, or the apologists for Nazis, making excuses for evil (that's you, by the way)?
Don't answer-- I don't think I want to hear what a squirrel thinks anyway.
"Who writes history"? It's a canard-- revisionist grad students write history, and it's usually not in glowing terms for the victor.
I can really understand what you're saying, but all things are not equal and sophistry will not make it so. Murder for profit, gain, or power sucks. When murderers are not accountable to the people, it's even worse.
that's only thousands of years later, lol. i do not mean to say all things are equal.
and I do not think victors always write history either, heh.

Okay. You are right about America taking sides. America will take sides but not to "control the world". It's not that dramatic.
America opens markets, which means supporting capitalists over liars who pretend to speak for the people and feast like kings (I saw Chavez's new airplane in Managua recently).
You fail to mention the leading families of each of those Latin countries, who own and run things.
Here is your homework: read Adam Smith's "Wealth of Nations" before you post here again.
Adam Smith could have never imagined what capitalism would turn into, similar to marx's critic of capitalism. Smith like Marx, could never fully see how the fields of credit has changed. The invisible hand of markets has been proven...its rightful essence of invisibility.
If you are a libertarian, you should look into research conducted in Social Psychology, and Sociology, over the topic of group formation.Which has always counteracted any concept of the invisible hand.
All,I ever hear from president's is about how America needs to stay a world power, and influential around the world.
We helped to overthrow chile's elected government,to insure our neo-liberalism expands. Our,capitalism has adopted Trotskyism. We put in Pinochet, who was one of the cruelest dictators south america has ever seen.
I am amazed you didn't say read.Freedom and Capitalism.
Of coures they are, it's easy to blame the US for all the troubles of the world. The big bad imperialists have to be awash in the blood of the innocent. You idiot.
Folks, the future is capitalism, and everyone (including Chavez) is aware of it However, Chavez is certainly no worse than the communist dictatorships (China? Vietnam -- VIETNAM, for God's sake!!!) we are dying to to do business with.
If we're for freedom and democracy, let's be for freedom and democracy, and not base our decisions on how well they treat our corporations.
I wish I couls figuure out what you numbnuts are talking about. The English are sissies, Americans are misinformed, we should have a love fest with Chavez, apparently Cuba's citizens are living fat since Catro took over, we should all read George Orwell, and the US is about to collapse in finaical ruins...does that about some up this gutter wash nonsense.
It's simple-- your little limey friend's hero is Hugo Chavez because he was "democratically elected" (like Castro) in the face of America black operations to defeat this great and humble man of the people. It makes no difference that he took private property, stolen every industry and wants to grind the nation into the ground like Castro.
He thinks he's cool. He's not.
The name calling is for emphasis. It's not a sign of fallacy, so save it Sherlock.
I didn't say anything about fallacy or name calling, did I? I think you interjected that into a tongue and cheek response to the political statements being made here by drug store Ph.D. wannabes, so you save it Sherlock.
you wish you "couls" figure out? Cuba's citizens are living fat since "Catro" took over? Are you serious? Go on the youtube in Europe please and get back to me when you can SPEAK English. European piece of shit doesn't know anything. Don't give an opinion on America unless you live here. Do we need to save your ASS again???
Stupid "dichead". Your the "dichead" I'm from Illinois myself- Mokena in fact. Your probably a stupid Liberal who became one from the media telling you what the fuck to believe. DO SOME RESEARCH "DICHEAD"
Name Country In Power Since 1. Omar al-Bashir Sudan 1989 2. Kim Jong Il North Korea 1994 3. Than Shwe Myanmar 1992 4. Robert Mugabe Zimbabwe 1980 5. Islam Karimov Uzbekistan 1990 6. Hu Jintao China 2002 7. King Abdullah Saudi Arabia 1995 8. Saparmurat Niyazov Turkmenistan 1990 9. Seyed Ali Khamanei Iran 1989 10. Teodoro Obiang Nguema Equatorial Guinea 1979
What about the acts of the fake Jihadists, the Republican Guard of Iran, Saddam and his sons?
You can ignore and hate what you want-- but you can't play everybody's heart strings, as if we are all children.
The world was twisted, way before you picked up your first leftist rag. They sell you your dreams, fool. It's about oil and profits son, not the puppet leaders.
You are living proof that Alexander Pope was right-- "A little learning is a dangerous thing." Grow up.
Please do not talk about things you simply do not know!Have you ever been to Cuba or are you just repeating what your government feeds you?Do you know that Batista, the dictator that was overthrown by Fidel Castro's revolution, like all other right wing dictators in the world had the full support of the USA. Ever heard of Harold Pinter, Noam Chomsky, Amy Goodman, Alice Walker, James Petras, or at least Michael Moore's comments on Castro's Cuba? Please don not believe all Mr President says
Yes, fool. I was also in East Germany before the wall came down too? Were you? You don't know me, you old style commie jackass.
You are brainwashed if you think your Tio-Papa Castro did a good job in Cuba since Batista. Even Russians laugh about it.
I'll bet that Pinter, Chomsky, Goodman, Walker, Petras and Moore would all choose Miami over Havana for open heart surgery, in spite of Castros well meaning, cheap medical care.
Castros give Cubans free aspirin for the headaches they cause!
Good- then don't have the discussion, you little English turd. You think we need another first-world, cool guy aping to show off his brain-heart?
One sign of a little dip, and the whole pink-ass commie world has another 9/11 celebration party. Churchill is rolling in his F-ing grave at the crap you're talking, Sonny Jim. You keep reading that fashionable Queensbury socialism and chatting up sissies at tea.
It's good for you. Maybe you'll end up owning Virgin Airlines too, right?
Chavez isn't a dictator. Your countries' government might want to make you think he is because he has a huge supply of oil which they'd just love to get their murderous hands on, but the most undemocratic thing which has happened under his leadership was the coup led against him in 2002 which incidentally was aided by the U.S military.
Nobody makes us think anything in this country, you jackass. You think buying the poor people off with petro dollars is going to build a solid economy for Chaveztopia (or did he re-name it after your mother?)
I'll tell you what we do have in this country-- people just like you who see plots and are paranoid at every turn, as Chavez "nationalizes" supermarkets, oil companies and anything else he can steal in the name of dreams (as long as he stays the corny fat king).
AIDED BY THE U.S MILITARY...Sound familiar eh'? Do your teachers in Europe teach you guys about Normandy, and how we saved your ass from the Germans? Do they? Just a question bud.
Yes, lap dogs that cut deals with Iran for cheap black market oil, and then got so upset at that country's little "intervention" for its dirty dealing and twisted murdering ways that all of Europe refused to help roll up Saddam, and his raping, murdering sons.
The real underdogs in Iran can't talk anymore. They were murdered by Sadddam before any American solder came to kick his ass in.
Everybody's got it coming, some more than others. Grow up-- get yourself a Difference Finder!
Well, if your British than I gwhere your coming from. You guys are helping out our war efforts in the middle east. The French however refuse to help us at all - aftr we saved their hides. And you havent been our lapdog, what the fuck re you talking about
I don't need to Wiki Hugo Chavez, we all know the his story and we know the truth too. I think I'll re-read Animal Farm, or the US Constitution or anything by George Orwell.
(Castro made medicine free for all in Cuba, the USSR improved Russians lives, and El Duce made the trains run on time-- dream on dreamer!)
We'll I'm really not in a position to measure and weigh the comparative miseries, or even the standard of living from one nation to the next to say which has or causes "bigger problems". That's a fools errand, which I'll leave for your dreams, and discussions at those Socialism circle jerks.
Two wrongs don't make a right; nor to 6 or 12 or 150, or 2 billion Chinese. What the hell do you really know?
I hear Hugo still wants to be Presidente for life? Maybe you want to roll all his cigars, huh.
Interesting discussion, but it's funny how this video has absolutely nothing to do with this song. I don't know what this guy was thinking. You may as well have had Cirque Du Soleil performing & it would have been just as relevant to the song.
How many absolute dictators in the history of the world stepped down from the pinnacle of power to allow the democratic institutions that they established while in power to replace them???
Mustafa Kemal was one of a kind in human history. I challenge anyone to name another...
Mustafa never "stepped down from the pinnacle of power" - he actually died in office as President of Turkey in 1938. A true pluralist election did not happen until 1946.
Ataturk seized power trough non-democratic means, ruled through decree, and strong-armed his reforms - imposing a Turkishness on a heterogenius population and suppressing minorities. He was autocratic in his governance and what he did, he did by force.
WORLD'S WORST DICTATORS IN HISTORY Kemal Atatürk, Turkey Nicolae Ceauşescu, Romania Fidel Castro, Cuba François Duvalier, Haiti Adolf Hitler, Germany Enver Hoxha, Albania Saparmurat Niyazov, Turkmenistan Josef Stalin, Soviet Union Kim Il-Sung, North Korea Mao Zedong, People's Republic of China
You call Ataturk one of the "worst dictators in history?! How do you even possess the synaptic ability to use electric devices? Ataturk set up a secular democracy that progressed from unipartisan to multi-party with parliamentary rule, advanced the cause of womens suffrage, set up a secular court system, and rejected fascism and totalitarianism when many major powers around Turkey were going the other way. But you consider him one of the "world's worst dictators in history?"
According to Sevan Nisanyan, Prof. of Turkish Languange and History, Bigli University, Istambul Turkey:
"Unlike Portugal,Spain, and Greece, Turkey has not come to terms with its totalitarian past.... That totalitarian past, perpetuated by the cult of Mustafa Kermal, still lives on."
According to Richard Falk, Prof. emeritus of International Law and Practice, Princeton University:
"... CHP (The Republican Peoples Party) secularism never favored creating a democratic Turkey in which the state and its leaders would be restrained by law and accountable to its citizenry. All along the guiding conception of Kemalist eletes was to establish a state that dominated state and societal identity...."
WORLD'S 10 WORST DICTATORS 2008 (PARADE MAG.): 1 Kim Jong-il, North Korea 2 Omar Al-Bashir, Sudan 3 Than Shwe, Myanmar 4 King Abdullah, Saudi Arabia 5 Hu Jintao, China 6 Robert Mugabe, Zimbabwe 7 Sayyid Ali Khamenei, Iran 8 Pervez Musharraf, Pakistan 9 Islam Karimov, Uzbekistan 10 Isayas Afewerki, Eritrea
Gotta love free speech--8 shots of Iran's president, an NONE of any Israelis. I think the Israelis have killed more women & childern than most in the last 20 years (Gaza, anyone?). Oh, but they're not terrorists.....
Like many non-transparent, democratic, and largely illegitimate countries, Iran's elections system is set up unfairly and biased towards those in power and against any opponents or detractors, sometimes to the worst extent...
Video is a little senseless. Not to defend him but the President of Iran was freely elected, is pretty much just a figurehead anyway--and has much much less blood (if any) on his hands than many leaders these day.
So I'm not really sure what he is doing in the video repeatedly(?)
the man said that he want to wipe isreal off the face of the earth, is trying to enrich uranium, and openly defends terrorist organizations that are on a jihad against all western culuture and you say there is no blood on his hands. Lets see how much blood will be on his hands in four years from now.
Yes, Streetbuzzny "much less blood on his hands", if you ignore role and actions of The Republican Guard in the middle east. But, see, that would be senseless.

you forgot to put G. W. Bush, since hes the biggest dictator the world has ever seen ;P. i mean come on.. america has only killed 500,000+ people since we started the war...
Yeah, but you have to admit it was pretty close, meaning that nearly half the country doesn't want him. Tyranny by the majority isn't a very good policy.

The English are sissies, Americans are misinformed, we should have a love fest with Chavez, apparently Cuba's citizens are living fat since Catro took over, we should all read George Orwell, and the US is about to collapse in finaical ruins...does that about some up this gutter wash nonsense.
jencomackey 3 years ago
That would be funny... but it's not.
It's not a sign of fallacy, so save it Sherlock.
thesquonkstear 3 years ago
I didn't say anything about fallacy or name calling, did I? I think you interjected that into a tongue and cheek response to the political statements being made here by drug store Ph.D. wannabes, so you save it Sherlock.

you wish you "couls" figure out? Cuba's citizens are living fat since "Catro" took over? Are you serious? Go on the youtube in Europe please and get back to me when you can SPEAK English. Obviously, dumbass, people in Cuba aren't doing well at all and haven't been for almost 50 years.
Sorry for the typo. I'm sure your typing club will get a big laugh over it.

Please don not believe all Mr President says
capitanmadrigal 3 years ago

1. Can't you have a discussion with someone without throwing pointless insults.
2. If you don't think the media has an effect on what people believe then your insane
3. Talking about lack of economic stability in other countries in the week the U.S nearly completely collapsed is total hypocrisy
edgqi 3 years ago
Good- then don't have the discussion, you little English turd. You think we need another first-world, cool guy aping to show off his brain-heart?
One sign of a little dip, and the whole pink-ass commie world has another 9/11 celebration party. Churchill is rolling in his F-ing grave at the crap you're talking, Sonny Jim. You keep reading that fashionable Queensbury socialism and chatting up sissies at tea.
It's good for you. Maybe you'll end up owning Virgin Airlines too, right?
thesquonkstear 3 years ago
Chavez isn't a dictator. Your countries' government might want to make you think he is because he has a huge supply of oil which they'd just love to get their murderous hands on, but the most undemocratic thing which has happened under his leadership was the coup led against him in 2002 which incidentally was aided by the U.S military.
edgqi 3 years ago
Nobody makes us think anything in this country, you jackass. You think buying the poor people off with petro dollars is going to build a solid economy for Chaveztopia (or did he re-name it after your mother?)
I'll tell you what we do have in this country-- people just like you who see plots and are paranoid at every turn, as Chavez "nationalizes" supermarkets, oil companies and anything else he can steal in the name of dreams (as long as he stays the corny fat king).
We call them dumb asses.
thesquonkstear 3 years ago
AIDED BY THE U.S MILITARY...Sound familiar eh'? Do your teachers in Europe teach you guys about Normandy, and how we saved your ass from the Germans? Do they? Just a question bud.
AlstottFan40 3 years ago
Yeah we get taught that. That was when they were the good guys. And its not like we haven't repaid you by being your lapdog ever since.
edgqi 3 years ago
Yes, lap dogs that cut deals with Iran for cheap black market oil, and then got so upset at that country's little "intervention" for its dirty dealing and twisted murdering ways that all of Europe refused to help roll up Saddam, and his raping, murdering sons.
The real underdogs in Iran can't talk anymore. They were murdered by Sadddam before any American solder came to kick his ass in.

(Castro made medicine free for all in Cuba, the USSR improved Russians lives, and El Duce made the trains run on time-- dream on dreamer!)
thesquonkstear 3 years ago

edgqi 3 years ago
We'll I'm really not in a position to measure and weigh the comparative miseries, or even the standard of living from one nation to the next to say which has or causes "bigger problems". That's a fools errand, which I'll leave for your dreams, and discussions at those Socialism circle jerks.

How many absolute dictators in the history of the world stepped down from the pinnacle of power to allow the democratic institutions that they established while in power to replace them???
Mustafa Kemal was one of a kind in human history. I challenge anyone to name another...
dallashardenbrook 3 years ago
dallashardenbrook
Sorry sir, but you are misinformed.
Mustafa never "stepped down from the pinnacle of power" - he actually died in office as President of Turkey in 1938. A true pluralist election did not happen until 1946.
hellboyzII 3 years ago
Ataturk seized power trough non-democratic means, ruled through decree, and strong-armed his reforms - imposing a Turkishness on a heterogenius population and suppressing minorities. He was autocratic in his governance and what he did, he did by force.
hellboyzII 3 years ago
hellboyzII 3 years ago
You call Ataturk one of the "worst dictators in history?! How do you even possess the synaptic ability to use electric devices? Ataturk set up a secular democracy that progressed from unipartisan to multi-party with parliamentary rule, advanced the cause of womens suffrage, set up a secular court system, and rejected fascism and totalitarianism when many major powers around Turkey were going the other way. But you consider him one of the "world's worst dictators in history?"
aluslacis 3 years ago
Interesting points.
Maybe we should bump him and put Saloth Sar (AKA "Pol Pot"), in his place to be cursed on earth as he burns in Hell!
garlicnoses4Obama 3 years ago
Under Ataturk's "enlightened authoritarianism":
- how many contientious objectors to his reforms ended up hanging in the gallows?
- how many of his political opponents were executed?
- how many of the Armenians and non-Muslims he expelled died?
- how many Greek citizens were murdered?
hellboyzII 3 years ago
According to Sevan Nisanyan, Prof. of Turkish Languange and History, Bigli University, Istambul Turkey:
"Unlike Portugal,Spain, and Greece, Turkey has not come to terms with its totalitarian past.... That totalitarian past, perpetuated by the cult of Mustafa Kermal, still lives on."
hellboyzII 3 years ago
In Ataturk's Kemalist Model of Governance:
- Power is concentrated in the Judiciary, Bureaucracy, and Military ... not sitting with the citizenry.
hellboyzII 3 years ago
According to Richard Falk, Prof. emeritus of International Law and Practice, Princeton University:
"... CHP (The Republican Peoples Party) secularism never favored creating a democratic Turkey in which the state and its leaders would be restrained by law and accountable to its citizenry. All along the guiding conception of Kemalist eletes was to establish a state that dominated state and societal identity...."

Video is a little senseless. Not to defend him but the President of Iran was freely elected, is pretty much just a figurehead anyway--and has much much less blood (if any) on his hands than many leaders these day.
So I'm not really sure what he is doing in the video repeatedly(?)
streetbuzzny 3 years ago 2
the man said that he want to wipe isreal off the face of the earth, is trying to enrich uranium, and openly defends terrorist organizations that are on a jihad against all western culuture and you say there is no blood on his hands.
