  • I just learned a cherimoya is not the same as a custard apple, close relatives but a different species!

  • I love everyone that uses the word produce :P

  • @RVO174 I was curious if u tried these fruits u should if you haven't durian lychee rambutan dragon fruit abiu star fruit yuzu fruit that's it hoping for some feedback:)

  • @zohanassassin Tried Dragon fruit, lychees but not rambutan. None of these have been on the show however. Just not as common to find. Star fruit too but not my favorite. Sounds like you might have gotten chance to try many things. That's great. Thanks for watching.

  • I think the show is great, however I find it very concerning that you did not mention that cherimoya seeds are poisonous. They are used to make insecticides and herbicides.

  • @Spesardjl not mentioned cause you just taught me;) Thanks for the feedback. Glad I spit them out lol. Thanks for watching. Take care.

  • @RVO174 If I go to the states I'll be sure to look out for Kiwanos. I'm going to Mexico though so it's unlikely. I went through alot of trouble with this special ordering buisness and today I'm calling my store back to see what the maniger had to say. I've only had kiwano one time.

  • @RVO174 Ill keep cheking invade an episode pops up. I remember in one episode you talked about kiwano melon. Do you have any idea where to find them in Canada? I've looked many places.

  • @doyoulikewaffles360 I wouldn't know where to find them in Canada but here in the U.S. we have several different "speciality" grocery stores which only means that are a little fancier than a normal store but really they are the same. However I have even seen them at Safeway and it looks like you have Safeway in Canada. So wherever you shop, you can always ask the produce manager if he or she can order some. It could be on their order list but they just don't normally order it for their store.

  • @RVO174 Thats fine. I'll miss the show though. Anyway good luck in the near future :)

  • @doyoulikewaffles360 Thanks very much for the kind words. I haven't declared the show over so an episode or two might still pop up someday so please stay tuned! Just in case;) Thanks for watching!

    Ray

  • @RVO174 that's fine. I'll miss the show though. There's many other fruit podcasts out there. Anyway good luck to you in the future :)

  • You haven't made a video in like a year???? What happened????

  • @doyoulikewaffles360 yeah sorry. I've busy producing podcasts for a living (not my own). Which has been a dream come true. I also do another show about what I do now for a living called The Podcasters Studio. So I used to work in produce departments and thus my knowledge was in produce and that was the basis for the Produce Picker Podcast but now I produce podcasts for a living so I do a show all about how to do that. Unfortunately this show has taken a backseat but I still appreciate everyone!

  • Ray, Bought one in Hawaii, knew nothing about it, thanks for the vid, very informational, Thanks

  • @Chrisanddog Thanks for watching. So glad the video helped and you got to try a new fruit. Take care!

  • Custard apple is a different fruit. This bugger is dangerous, it's bark can induce paralysis and seeds are poisonous when crushed, be careful how you eat them folks >:D

  • Hi Ray -- We borrowed back our seed-spitting idea for our Cherimoya video. Hope you don't mind! We take very different approaches and both are great ways to get the word out about unusual fruits and veggies!

  • @FriedasProduce Besides the oddly familiar creative decisions (wink wink;)) I'm glad I could help get you guys/gals into web video. I'm happy that marketing listened to my appeals to not get too far behind your competition in this market. The web allows you to talk to your customers and get instant feedback like never before ...hmmm when do I get a paycheck? ;) Take care, continued success.

  • Love them, first had them in Peru. They are delicious!

  • @lowridinHI Hey thanks for watching the episode! I think Cherimoya is a definite acquired taste but it can be served many ways and can certainly be delicious. Thanks again for the comment and the view.

  • hello that fruit is very common in portugal (specially in the archipelago of the Madeira)

    what and where I live

my grandmother was eating it almost every day

  • What is the website where you can order these???

  • The seeds are potentially neurotoxic if broken so cut it with a dull knife and split it open by hand then scoop it with a spoon or pick the seeds directly out of the pulp with a fork.

  • For the apple dividing episode did you stop comments cuz i no how to divide it straight in half with only your hands and thumbs but it requires a lot of strength

  • Saw one of these in my local grocery store. They're $4 a pop. I'd hate to pick a bad one.

  • Yeah that's one of my goals. To help people save money by picking fruit that isn't too ripe but can last a few days so they don't have to throw things out. Thanks for watching!

  • haha love this how. can't wait for the next one :D

i'll have to add the cherimoya to the list of fruits to eat before i die. we don't really see those kinds of fruits here in vancouver... well at least i havent. the most "exotic" fruit i've seen here was the persimmon :s

  • Thanks so much for the compliments and commenting! So glad you like the show.

Did you watch the persimmon episode? At least you've had a chance to taste one. I hope you get to try all the fruits and veggies you want someday!

    Ray

  • @RVO174 oh yeah i've watched all the shows-- big fan. My favourite is the Kiwano melon episode. perhaps in the near future do an episode on guava fruits? i've always wanted to try one, and I think we have those hear in summer time

  • Awesome, Ray! Thanks for the props! Beautiful Cherimoyas are now being harvested in California.

  • Glad you liked it!

  • this is a lot like a gunabana....

  • interesting, I'll have to try that one if I ever come across it. Thanks for the comment!

  • oops i misspelled it... :/ its guanabana. also known as the soursop...

  • fun vid... thanks :) we are whores for cherimoya. haha :)

  • Cherimoya whores, cool! You MUST really like them;)

  • Thanks so much, sorry for the long gap. Unfortunately I can't do this show as often as I would like but I'm glad you stick with it!

  • Hehe no problem. Your videos are very funny and very helpful! Hope to see more :)
