ooooohhhhh mmmyyyyyy goooooodddnnnneessssss.......... o.O thats CRAZY!!!!! its so crazy how true that is! i always have this reaction every single time i watch it. C.R.A.Z.Y..........
@danwazhere7 Because the fundamentals of Islam is to deny any type of worship of the creation and have it exclusively towards God, the Creator. Worship meaning to have complete devotion to something to do actions that are good for the sake of God alone and earn God's pleasure. The concept of worship of One God is foundation of Islam. The Quran is the testimony to that and the 'shahada.' (deceleration of faith) is the spoken word of denying Idol worship and creation and worshiping only God.
@going2sleep ok interesting, what makes your religion true? how do you know that it is true? what makes it different to other religions. how do you know or when would you know that you are saved and would go to paradise, i am a Christian and i believe that the person of Jesus Christ who is God in flesh is the Way the Truth and the Life , Jesus' death and resurrection is the core event of human history and His life is unique in history. it is Jesus that is the answer to all lifes problems.
@danwazhere7 It is true because it is the same message as all the Prophets of God. "Worship God alone and avoid false deities" (Quran). Jesus himself the greatest commandment is in (Mark 12:28-31). We say the same as Jesus and that is the way of salvation. For your belief (God, hereafter, messengers) in the tongue to manifest itself to the body you must act on what you believe to gain God's mercy. Forgiveness is sought by asking for it not for a sacrifice of God's son. Not enough room.PM me
I have waited so long for someone to say this... People revolve around things like the sports example... The only reason people should get offended is because it applies to them. Thanks for saying this!
lol was anyone else think about a Catholic service when he was talking, funny costumes, huge temples, whole existence revolving around one thing. Can't he see that he is describing himself (not saying he is a Catholic just meaning religious) as much as any other group. He is not saying crazy worship and a life devoted to only one thing is bad, just that you should pick his object of devotion.
I think that the point is, sometimes we start defining ourselves, our existence, and our identies through these types of things like sports or whatever else it is but God wants us to find our destiny and live our lives through him. Through his eyes. Through his call as he created us too before we were born. He wants us to remember.

Yep, Jesus did say that... but make sure you read on into the rest of the context. Jesus was speaking against hypocritical judgment. God loves righteous judgment, and commands it.(Lets not forget there is also a book of the Bible called "Judges") John 7:24 also speaks out against appearance judgment, but rather according to righteous judgment. So, if you're not doing it hypocritically or according to appearance alone--but according to God's standard, you may judge.
vicious cycle.. The one that is infinite is all that can infinitely satisfy us.. I don't presume to know everything, I don't, but I do try to know more everyday..
To all who condemn people watching sports, ESP as a leisurely activity, u have no grounds to support Ur statements because everyone has an occupation and hobby, so long as it stays like that it's okay.. Remember, our Lord was a carpenter, he to worked on houses, but his love was not on these things but us.. u better be ready to face
@quantum828- be careful not to judge or condemn anyone, you are not Jesus my Lord..
Slot guys are not catholic so I won't limit my comment to catholic teaching alone..
Some people do place sports as their number one love in the world, over God but more so over their own family.. that is where there is error because, material satisfaction can only last momentarily.. When the sports are done and dusted, people must seek other means of satisfaction, then that won't last and there begins a vicio
I love how I'm seeing nothing but talking about the worshipping of the Almighty God and nobody else...O Lord you alone do we worship from you alone we seek help...God bless all of you
It's not that we can't enjoy things unless they contain the word "God" in them (like sports, or whatever you're into) it's just that when it becomes something you love more than God that it's in your way. It can be as simple as facebook or as complex as a relationship. This vid always shows me the same thing: I need to cast out my idols. "Give us clean hands, give us pure hearts, let us not lift our souls to another." Amen. =)
@ Vexile - you should go talk to some physicists about our "reality". You may be shocked. The leaders in your anti God religion question themselves. They just don't tell you for fear they've been wrong. Go talk to some real scientists (not some college kids who have an opinion and are still being taught yesterday's "truth"), from any division, and see how often their truth changes. Though they may not believe in God, they don't believe what you were or are being taught in school today. They've
@OpethNation Well I mean they worship stones.. Carved stones to be exact.. And they worship pope.. wouldn't seem to know but actually they are.. If I missed your point then what is it?
In the context of Christianity, it's important to understand that God isn't condemning sports, or athletes, or actors, or politicians etc. We're condemning anyone or anything that tries to replace God as the #1 thing in our life. We can't continue to put our full faith into things that are temporary and fallible. If we truly want to have a right relationship with God he has to be #1, especially given how he sent His son to die for us. :)
Seem to be more interesting in hating what others do than loving what himself do. One picture worth thousand of words and one idol worth thousand of pictures and this is the importance of Idol.Idol is a physical symbol which strengthen one's faith.It provides the easiest way to establish devotion. Every religion use one or other symbol. Also the way two extreme things presented never the example of idol worship, its not the definition, correct it.
The sad thing here is guys you have all fallen into another trap. Satan has you arguing over the trivial. Yes idol worship = bad. But its not a conviction for everyone. There are people who can watch football without idolizing. All this video does is attacks something in a negative way that in and of itself is not evil. But it does make atheists look at us as a bunch of people who have no enjoyment in life. I love my God. He saved me with his grace. I love football, but it is not the same love.
hi skitguys just want to say I love your videos and all I think they are great but I think this one comes off in the wrong way or I just don't agree with you, while sports can take away from your relationship with Christ I don't think being interested in sports or playing sports is all that bad, if it doesn't take away from your relationship with Christ then I see nothing wrong with it. Plus there are hundreds of pros who love God and they don't hide in between the lines.
Wow. You all must have had a really hard time with jock bullies in school. Don't drink the koolaid, see a therapist. But don't dress for the occasion, participate in the exercises or cheer if you have break threw because apparently that makes the therapist an idol.
The very fact that you hold your god to such a standard, and refer to "Him" with a capital H, is pretty close to idolization. And before you put my lack of belief down to egotism, I have other people in my life, girlfriend, best friends, parents, siblings and neices, who take priority in my life. And don't worry, I won't try to relieve you of your wilfull ignorance anymore. This material world is all we have, which unfortunately, I have to share with your ilk. Bye.
well done . I ve preached to all I know about sports being what it is . pegan bullcrap and it will someday climax in feeding people to lions again . THE GAME and to think its all has come to this point since the 1920s before this all sports was just for kids.

It Begins on May 21, 2011 wwwYoutubeCom/watch?v=0SVrlm4BXFM wwwEBibleFellowshipCom/wecanknow/ www7000yearsCom (7000 years after Noah) wwwWorldEndsMay21com wwwFamilyRadioCom wwwSeek-Lord.blogspotCom
AYE BROTHAS! I GOTTA SIGN IN TO COMMENT ON THIS ONE. DONT GET IT TWISTED. THIS VIDEO JUST SHOWS ONE EXAMPLE OF IDOL IN OUR HEARTS. ITS NOT ABOUT "STOP ENJOYING SPORTS" ITS ABOUT KNOWING TO PUT YOUR WHOLE TIME AND LIFE TO GOD. MOST OF US THESE DAYS HAVE MORE TIME SURFING THE NET THAN READING THE BIBLE. WE BUILD TEMPLES, WE CHANGE PROFILE PICTURES, WE UPDATES TWEETS. DO YOU DO THAT TO GOD? DO WE CHECK HIM FROM TIME TO TIME? LIKE IF HE GAVE US A NOTIFICATIONS AND A LIKE? DONT GET IT TWISTED.
@Vexille1983 hypocritical only suggests that the person preaching doesn't practice what he teaches. And that may be true. but truth is truth no matter who says it. worshipping anything other than God is wrong. Thats an uncompromisable truth.
I'm really sorry you feel the way you do, i truly am.
You idolize your God, therefore, thats idolatry right there. What Christians, Muslims and Jews think of as idolatry is other people worshipping other gods than their own. You're so wrapped up in your own beliefs that, that you neither care or respect the beliefs of others, and think they should just drop them simply on your word that something terrible would happen to them if they didn't.
I doubt your sincerity, and I don't require your apology.
@25193 The Biblical God is also a false god. You hold that god up to an impossible standard, while also overlooking his character flaws as they are depicted in the Bible. While this god may not have statues in his likeness (although statues of Jesus may count if you believe in the Trinity) he has been depicted in literature and art and is thusly a virtual idol for a certain demographic group on this planet.
There's a difference in worshiping something materialistic and something that you truly believe in your heart is someone watching over you, protecting you, and guiding you. We respect other people's beliefs, if they aren't worshiping something materialistic. If I meet someone who is worshiping a football player, you're right, I won't respect that. And just FYI I don't think anyone would apologize to your comment, because it is down right rude.
Can you put names to any of these religions you talk about as well as properly describe their distinctive theology, so I can be sure that you know what you talking about?
And what do you mean by "authentic Christian followers"? Aren't Catholics and Orthodoxs Christians and the like authentic?
@Vexille1983 he didn't name a denomination within christianity. when he says authentic he means people who follow the bible as best they can. people who deviate from that, catholic or not, are obviously not authentic.
i was like that w/ a boy band a few years ago & then i fell in love w/ Jesus & got that way about Him. Then, 1 day God showed me in the Bible that people were worshiping Idols in HIS Temple & how much that hurt Him & i cried b'cuz i realized what it means that God wants ALL of us. I learned that He wanted ALL of my heart. & now it's His Forever <3
I was once a hardcore football fanatic. I was more interested in watching the beginning kickoff than going to worship the Lord on Sunday (we can worship the Lord on any given day btw). Football is fun, it's not a sin to watch it, but it is sinful to idolize football aka dedicate more time to it than God. People sit in 15 degrees or lower weather to watch a football game, but if it were that cold on church day, people will complain about that it's too cold!
This really isn't saying enjoying football, or whatever is "bad.": It's pointing out that we all worship something in one way or another...and wouldn't it be great if we'd be as passionate about God as we are about "stuff."
"Idol Worship" is the oldest Abrahamic monotheist Strawman argument against polytheistic religions. No one "worships" idols, they use idols/objects in worship. Christians have the same attitude to the Bible and holy relics, like saints bones, Turin Shroud etc. The Muslims about the Quran and the Kaaba in Mecca. And Jews about the Torah and Temple Mount in Jerusalem. Their hypocrisy is staggering.
Actually some faiths DO worship their relics and idols, like the statues of saints and the virgin mary - born again Christian would not do that! nor do born again Christians subscribe to the ,mysteries surrounding the turin shroud, saints bones etc.... Some faiths are based on 'ancestral worship, animal worship these are not just objects or tools they are being summoned directly thought to be sacred energies.....
The Bible is not 'worshipped' it is used as the Spiritual guide.
Animists consider that every inanimate object possesses its own spirit. But that doesn't mean they necessarily worship everything. Christians may consider their bibles to be guiding manuals, but to any casual non-Christian, shamanistic observer, their reverence for the Bible may not appear that much different to how they treat their shrines or whathaveyou.
Summoning 'spirits' from an ancestors name - belief in that their dead relative is now a spirit is worship! And the same with nature like water, fire, animals etc...summoning spiritual entities from channels is worship.
The only thing authentic Christian followers worship is Jesus Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit.
I had this problem for a while and sometimes i still do. But my idol was myself. I thought i was a god. Little did I know. There is only one God. And love God with all that you have, And love others as you would yourself.
@jubjub594 do you mind if I clarify what your saying just to see if I have it right? As long as sports is not set above God it's okay, but if it's an addiction or an obsession then we have a problem. Is that what you mean by " This video is only saying "Why don't we get this pumped up about God" not " stop enjoying sports"?
I worship idols extensively, especially Michael Jackson and Henry Kissinger even if their positions in reality are vastly different. The King of Pop has some really nice songs, and America also owes its successful foreign policy in those early days to the works of ole Henry.
@thisisthejohnshow also because we believe the bible is true and take it at its word we obey what it tells us to do. we follow what is called the great commission which is to go out unto all the nations to preach the good news of Jesus Christ (Matthew 28:16-20). i agree with you that there are some people who call themselves christians who give the rest of us a bad rep and that we build mega-churches and worship the building. we cant make you believe the bible, only God can but i pray for you
@coro2291 It's not a sin. It's where your heart is directed towards. If your faith is in football, then yeah it is. But if your faith is in the Lord God then maybe I would say it's not a sin. Worship is about the attitude of your mind, not your lifestyle.
someone should post the giant cathedrals you guys have, and the multi-billionaire dollar corporations like "TBN". And the Christian schools. And then then the Christians who want to take America back for Jesus, and the reach for everyone to basically be in a theocracy. At least African tribes don't insist on going to other countries and preaching their religion.
@thisisthejohnshow I think you missed the point. Also sidenote. Most African Tribes can't afford to come and preach their religion. Which in most cases is that of Christianity.
If the goal was to make an actual theocracy on Earth, like Muslims have nearly done to Iran, we'd've done it by now. Plus, most of those African tribes subscribe to tribalist ideology, which states that anyone not born into their tribe is inferior...like an animal. This supremacist attitude is found in nearly all tribalistic, nationalisticpaganfaiths the world over. Why would they want "unworthy animals" payingrespectsto their gods? Missionary work means nothing to them.
You can't judge the behavior of a tribalistic belief system that thinks the rest of humanity is inferior by the same exact standard as a faith that believes all men were created equal and should be reunited in equality to a creator that is equally the creator of all of them.
Don't say I don't know what I'm talking about either. I spent a summer talking with a pagan priestess. She gave me invaluable insights on this matter.
@DozerfleetProd Everyone who isn't a Christian goes to hell, at the end of the bible all of the non-Christians are massacred. God kills children quite a bit in the bible, they're almost like a divine currency. Oh and "Saves Derek, Slaves" slaves are advocated in the Bible.
@thisisthejohnshow Everyone who goes to hell is someone who didn't want Heaven. Just like everyone who dies in an earthquake somewhere in the world when they could've been safe in my apartment instead neither knew my apartment nor wanted it, nor wanted me to be their host. Ignorance kills just as much as rejection. Slaves are not advocated per se, but slaves showing their masters respect within reason is what's advocated.
@DozerfleetProd Moreover, the Bible makes a distinction between obligatory butlers and immoral acts of group oppression. Masters among Israelites were given plenty of rules to follow to not abuse their servants. And Egypt was punished for enslaving Israel against its will, and then oppressing its slaves.
Heaven and hell are all there is? Hahaha really. Being a good and obedient and maybe useful slave is of course your thing, but don't force that on others.
Next your apartment will unexpectedly collapse taking you with it and we'd be glad we aren't in there with you.
Such is your attitude then, about Heaven. And why would anything be forced on you? You can choose another foundation, you aren't forced to live with something you hate, are you? It's what this life is about. But how solid is your roof and foundation? When you make your way, outside it, will you ever be content with the results?
I have watched many of your videos. I haven't seen them all. What I've seen seems pretty lukewarm. We all know that makes Jesus sick, right? I hope you will stop sugaring down the salt making it worthless.
This video is different. It is actually very accurate, and true. Sports idolatry is a very serious problem. So is Music Idolatry, TV Idolatry, Celebrity Idolatry, etc. This country is so full of Idolatry, it makes what the nation of Israel did, look like child's play.
Can somebody, who has the language knowledge and the right software, subtitle this video in spanish, please??? I would do so, but i have no software to do it and I would really like to share this with people that do not speak english. This is such a good video and of course "the Skit Guys" got a good point. A really good one!!!

WHAT IS YOUR PURPOSE OF LIFE ?
FIND OUT ISLAM HAS THE ANSWERS YOU'VE BEEN LOOKING FOR
hoyaddawas 8 months ago
@hoyaddawas how does Islam have the answers?
danwazhere7 3 months ago
@danwazhere7 Because the fundamentals of Islam is to deny any type of worship of the creation and have it exclusively towards God, the Creator. Worship meaning to have complete devotion to something to do actions that are good for the sake of God alone and earn God's pleasure. The concept of worship of One God is foundation of Islam. The Quran is the testimony to that and the 'shahada.' (deceleration of faith) is the spoken word of denying Idol worship and creation and worshiping only God.
going2sleep 3 months ago
@going2sleep ok interesting, what makes your religion true? how do you know that it is true? what makes it different to other religions. how do you know or when would you know that you are saved and would go to paradise, i am a Christian and i believe that the person of Jesus Christ who is God in flesh is the Way the Truth and the Life , Jesus' death and resurrection is the core event of human history and His life is unique in history. it is Jesus that is the answer to all lifes problems.
danwazhere7 3 months ago
@danwazhere7 It is true because it is the same message as all the Prophets of God. "Worship God alone and avoid false deities" (Quran). Jesus himself the greatest commandment is in (Mark 12:28-31). We say the same as Jesus and that is the way of salvation. For your belief (God, hereafter, messengers) in the tongue to manifest itself to the body you must act on what you believe to gain God's mercy. Forgiveness is sought by asking for it not for a sacrifice of God's son. Not enough room.PM me

He wants us to remember.

our Lord on judgement day, what will you say to him? Did he not say judge not lest you be judged?
I hope u all a safe journey to heaven.. God bless you all
thundermanly 10 months ago
@thundermanly

Some people do place sports as their number one love in the world, over God but more so over their own family.. that is where there is error because, material satisfaction can only last momentarily.. When the sports are done and dusted, people must seek other means of satisfaction, then that won't last and there begins a vicio

Bye.

Did I really? Because the point I was making was that criticisms of idolatry are, at best naive and at worst, hypocritical.
Vexille1983 1 year ago
@Vexille1983 hypocritical only suggests that the person preaching doesn't practice what he teaches. And that may be true. but truth is truth no matter who says it. worshipping anything other than God is wrong. Thats an uncompromisable truth.
I'm really sorry you feel the way you do, i truly am.

@youtubaholic

@Vexille1983 It's impossible to "idolize" God. An idol is a false god.
25193 1 year ago

And what do you mean by "authentic Christian followers"? Aren't Catholics and Orthodoxs Christians and the like authentic?
Vexille1983 1 year ago
@Vexille1983 he didn't name a denomination within christianity. when he says authentic he means people who follow the bible as best they can. people who deviate from that, catholic or not, are obviously not authentic.

Then, 1 day God showed me in the Bible that people were worshiping Idols in HIS Temple & how much that hurt Him & i cried b'cuz i realized what it means that God wants ALL of us. I learned that He wanted ALL of my heart. & now it's His Forever <3
JESUSRockedMyWorld 1 year ago
I was once a hardcore football fanatic. I was more interested in watching the beginning kickoff than going to worship the Lord on Sunday (we can worship the Lord on any given day btw). Football is fun, it's not a sin to watch it, but it is sinful to idolize football aka dedicate more time to it than God. People sit in 15 degrees or lower weather to watch a football game, but if it were that cold on church day, people will complain about that it's too cold!
XiaoFury 1 year ago

Vexille1983 1 year ago
@Vexille1983
The Bible is not 'worshipped' it is used as the Spiritual guide.
joolzanne7 1 year ago
@joolzanne7
Vexille1983 1 year ago
@Vexille1983

At least African tribes don't insist on going to other countries and preaching their religion.
thisisthejohnshow 1 year ago
@thisisthejohnshow I think you missed the point. Also sidenote. Most African Tribes can't afford to come and preach their religion. Which in most cases is that of Christianity.
life2fullest 1 year ago
@thisisthejohnshow
DozerfleetProd 1 year ago
@thisisthejohnshow
DozerfleetProd 1 year ago
@DozerfleetProd Everyone who isn't a Christian goes to hell, at the end of the bible all of the non-Christians are massacred. God kills children quite a bit in the bible, they're almost like a divine currency. Oh and "Saves Derek, Slaves" slaves are advocated in the Bible.
thisisthejohnshow 1 year ago
@thisisthejohnshow Everyone who goes to hell is someone who didn't want Heaven. Just like everyone who dies in an earthquake somewhere in the world when they could've been safe in my apartment instead neither knew my apartment nor wanted it, nor wanted me to be their host. Ignorance kills just as much as rejection. Slaves are not advocated per se, but slaves showing their masters respect within reason is what's advocated.
DozerfleetProd 1 year ago
@DozerfleetProd Moreover, the Bible makes a distinction between obligatory butlers and immoral acts of group oppression. Masters among Israelites were given plenty of rules to follow to not abuse their servants. And Egypt was punished for enslaving Israel against its will, and then oppressing its slaves.
DozerfleetProd 1 year ago
@DozerfleetProd
Heaven and hell are all there is? Hahaha really. Being a good and obedient and maybe useful slave is of course your thing, but don't force that on others.
Next your apartment will unexpectedly collapse taking you with it and we'd be glad we aren't in there with you.
SeventhSun 1 year ago
@SeventhSun
Such is your attitude then, about Heaven. And why would anything be forced on you? You can choose another foundation, you aren't forced to live with something you hate, are you? It's what this life is about. But how solid is your roof and foundation? When you make your way, outside it, will you ever be content with the results?
DozerfleetProd 1 year ago
