  • Beautiful. I remember that you also use Haas CNC machines.

  • @andy5drum Haas has got great machines!

  • Comment removed

  • those things turn out to be beauties

  • @iAlwaysWinEverything Quite a process!

  • @iAlwaysWinEverything im a beauty

  • @Kamakazi242012 Good ;)

  • I would like to do that kind of stuff when I'm old enough, how do you get into that kind of business?

  • @LaVaBeAvErHD You could apply with us when you are ready. We are in the southern CA area, Oxnard, CA to be specific. We are not taking any applications at this time but positions do open from time to time.

    ://dwdr(dot)ms/rtp55y

  • @DrumWorkshopInc well I'm a few years and a few continents away, but I will think about it when I'm old enough, Thank you very much!

  • @LaVaBeAvErHD Alright well you are welcome to the US anytime!

  • This gives a good consideration where to buy a next drum kit.

  • @drummerjape Sweet! We are happy to show you our drum making process!

  • i think the person who disliked the video has a first act kit from a garage sale

  • Thanks for such a great tour! always have been interested how these kits are made, just wish i had one! Alot of effort goes in. Oh, and by the way, fancy doing a trade, my kit for a DW kit?

  • @GingerDrummerDude You are very welcome. We are happy to show you our drum making process. We have plenty of drums here but thanks anyways. ;)

  • If you're*

Major grammatical error in the video description.

I now expect a complete DW performance serie drumset as reward for my major contribution to Drum Workshop Inc. by letting you know about this major mistake. :)

  • @kevinyo4 Haha! We were going to hook you up but you spelled "series" serie. Sorry about that:)

  • @DrumWorkshopInc Aww man, too bad, but... if I find another mistake in any video of yours, ill ask for it again and then you'll have to give it to me. :D

  • @kevinyo4 Haha we'll see about that. ;)

  • if i were to order a collectors series kit would i be able to get it in sapphire blue?

  • @HOPExxDRUMMER No unfortunately not. The Sapphire Blue finish is exclusive to the Performance Series. Sorry about that. :(

  • @DrumWorkshopInc oh ok but what about like if I were to ever get endorsed, then would it be a possibility?

  • @HOPExxDRUMMER No unfortunately not. We are doing our best to keep the Performance Series and the Collector's Series separate.

  • I'm a taiwanese and I wish one day I can visit the factory in Taiwan !! :)

  • I was wondering where are the other DW products made? example: Stands/Hardware/Kick pedals? Same where-house in California?

  • @numlol1 All DW hardware is designed here. We still make all 9000 series pedals, high hats and our new Air Lift stands here also. Specialty 5000 stands are made here and the rest is made in our factory in Taiwan.

  • PDP drums are they making by the same way?

  • @Fitzleking Pretty similar but the PDP drums are not customizable. The PDP drums are a assembly line type drum.

  • WOW I Guess I'm Just A Dreamer To Have That Kind Of Drum Kit Those Drum Kits Are So Expensive! I Wish You Can Sell An Set That Is So Affordable And I Also Wish That U Can Put A Price In Your Website :(

  • @EduardoArtadiMagkasi The new PDP Concept Series we are coming out with might be perfect for you. It has a lot of the same ingredients that make DW's so great, but at a fraction of the price (under $1000). We don't post prices for custom DW Drums on our site because we do not currently sell them directly. So it's up to our dealers to decide the price.

  • I live in australia and i cant find anyone around here to make me a custom kit, what do i have to do to get a custom kit to australia?

  • @Joshdafunk Sorry to hear that! Please contact our Australian distributor Intermusic for a DW drums dealer closest to you.

    Intermusic PTY LTD

    29 South Corporate Avenue,

    Rowville

  • John Good seems like a really cool dude.

  • @WyattTheGuitarist He is for sure! Sometimes he will come around the office with a new exotic wood all excited asking what we think. :)

  • i would love to make my own drum set. that would be the most amazing thing. to put in the work. through each step and build and finish my drum set. the ultimate connection between musician and instrument

  • @skid432 We have people here everyday building that connection with our customers kits. We strongly believe this one of the reasons the drums sound the way they do. :)

  • @DrumWorkshopInc yes but my point was.l i would love to work in your factory. an make these drums. and eventually build my own drum set with my bare hands. it would be the experience of a life time

  • how come you only have mexicans working there?

  • Wish I could get a tour my dream

  • @faithrockz1 Come on out if you are ever in the southern CA area. We have our factory tours almost every Thursday at 2 pm.

  • Nice video, marvelous process, but i preffer Yamaha.

  • Thumbnail looks like an kebab spit xD

  • THIS WAS THE SWEETEST VIDEO EVER! It should easily get 9 trillion billion million views!!!!!!

  • @zamoralesdrummer Haha thanks! We are hoping it can get to that level but in the meantime we very happy you are liking it. :)

  • i might go on the factory tour this summer, and if i do, it will be one of the coolest things in my life! i hope i get to meet some of these great people who create and play this drums!

  • hello DW Drums i was wondering how to get a sponsorship or endorsment from dw its my dream i love youre drums and hardware PLEASE PLEASE RESPOND:)

  • @DDDRUUMMINIT We are flattered that you have chosen DW as your preferred drums and your endorsement.

We have a formal application process that everyone must go through. You can download the application and read more about it here:

    ://bit(dot)ly/endorseDW

Your odds of getting an endorsement deal are greater if you already have other endorsements (cymbals, sticks, heads, etc...), a recording contract, and a touring schedule.

  • @DrumWorkshopInc unfourtanatly i dont tour or have indorsements but i do teach drums and make videos ive had alot of people ask me about buying drums and always recommend dw i do not have dw drums but ive used them and they sound amazing if you check out my channel of me drumming and i will for sure check out the aplication thank you, mike

  • Just a question: I know John Good likes to experiment with would but has he tried experimenting with soaking a wood in certain solutions before making a drum out of it? I know a theory (that has some very strong evidence) about why the Cremona violins like Stradivari sound so good is the water in the river that the wood soaked in before being made into a violin. I was thinking that would be interesting to make a snare out of that kinda of wood.

  • @aaronaaronjarvis Yes John has looked into this process before. With drum shells it has proven to be tricky though because of the amount of plies that make up the shell. Thanks for your comments!

  • 4:50 - spelled departments wrong!

  • @pathemus Great catch there! We'll fix that right up. :)

  • @DrumWorkshopInc It's no big deal. We're all drummers, not English scholars!

  • @pathemus HAHA!

  • 1:49 "Here come those Santa Ana winds again"

  • @kingcherub Ah a lyric by the one of the best bands ever...by some people's opinions. :)

  • @DrumWorkshopInc This guy is one of those people. :)

  • @kingcherub We support this guy then!

  • Have you got any dealer in Spain ?? Thanks

  • @manuelalpachino6 Not in Spain unfortunately.:( We do have a dealer in Portugal. Check the link below.

    ://bit(dot)ly/xYGONX

  • @DrumWorkshopInc But in the world map of DW website appears a dealer in Spain, called "Music distribucion" and it's in Barcelona.

  • One day I'll see this all in person AND if blessed enough, see my own kit before it's shipped out. DW's are truly a work of art. The details are astounding, and I know every time I play my kit, they come out with each note.

  • @One7ruth We would love to have you out sometime! Thanks for watching!

  • compre una pdp M5 en colombia su sonido es exelente, como hago para tener un patrocinio en PDP saludos desde colombia :D

  • @oswaldrums Greetings from California! Thanks for choosing PDP!

  • @DrumWorkshopInc Mr. DW, how do I get a sponsorship with you I'm from Colombia, thanks for answering my comment

  • DW is the prime example of how drums are truly a work of art. They are truly beatiful, and perfect in everyway. I pray that I have the honor of being endorsed by you guys one day, or even owning one of your amazing kits.

  • @amongthepossessed Thanks so much for your kind words and feedback!

  • @DrumWorkshopInc And thank you, for creating such beautiful kits for me to let my emotions out on. Seriously I can not thank you enough for doing the amazing things that you all do at DW. Your craftmanship brings tears to my eyes, and makes me appreciate the instrument even more than I already do.

  • Is there a way to get an estimate on a custom drum kit?

  • @TheProgGuy We do not do any sales or pricing direct from our factory here. Sorry about that. Please contact your local authorized DW drums dealer for pricing and ordering info.

    ://bit(dot)ly/v7qPFu

  • It would be nice if when Neil Peart orders another set if you film the making of it from beginning to end and put it online.

  • @aaronaaronjarvis Noted! Nice suggestion thanks!

  • This is truly amazing, this is art. No other drum company can top the craftsmanship that DW puts out on a daily basis. I love DW, I own a PDP X7 drum set, I love it. Even though its not the same exact craftsmanship on the PDP line, its still truly amazing art work. DW and PDP are both amazing companies and those who love drums and percussion know that those two companies are the ones to go to. Enough said.

  • @menickperez Wow that was well said for just being enough said! :) Thanks so much for your comments. We really appreciate it.

  • No wonder they are expensive. All handcrafted, except for hardware holes. Perfection.

  • @TheProgGuy You were paying attention for sure. You are right the only part of the manufacturing process we do not do by hand is the drilling for the drum hardware. :)

  • there is the possibility of a visit to the factory?

  • @Maykelctba Yes there is. We do our factory tours almost every thursday at 2 pm. If you are out in the southern CA area feel free to book a tour with our Customer Service at 1-800-45-Drums ext. 450.

  • @DrumWorkshopInc Thank you for the fast reply :) Im from Brazil, but maybe in the next summer i'll travel to USA, CA... it will be interesting!

  • @Maykelctba No worries! We would love to have if you can make it out here. :)

  • Very cool to see. I bought my Collectors Series in 1999. My bass drum was signed by John Good and I was told it was the first to be made in DW's custom shop. It's a Natural Satin w/ Black Hardware 20x22. You can see the kit in my YouTube vids. I think theres 4 songs from a gig a few summers ago. Anyway, the kit is the best sounding kit on the planet. EVERY studio I've tracked in offers to buy the kit off of me. My answer always? Sorry, they're NOT for sale.

  • @Ardge26 Yeah sweet! Great story to go with your kit. Way to hold onto your kit. It has brought you too many fun times to sell it right?!?

  • holy frick, the plant looks like its in mexico

  • do pdp drums go through these same processes?

  • @CuberMan2 Yes very similar but PDP drums are more of a production line drum kit. With DW, every kit is unique to itself in a custom manner. :)

  • dw forever! quality ,sound ,looks, and state of the art detail. 9000 series is the best. my kit was built in 2003 and the drums are bombbastic. they rock, i luv this company and their vision for greatness and what looks cool.

  • @hthtomcat3 Great to hear your kit is working for you. We love having a part of the DW family! What sizes and finish type do you have?! 9000 hardware too! Nice!

  • i have suscribed

  • @16METALLICA1 Thanks very much!

  • subtitles in spanish please ;) ... ¡¡¡

  • @CarlosDrummer0 Noted!

  • I live in Oxnard and their factory is like 2-3 miles away from my house i've been there only once and that was to Apply there ......wonder if i can get endorsed?

  • @RJROCKZout23 We are flattered that you have chosen DW as your preferred drums and your endorsement.

  • i love DW, but if you want flashy style, you guys gatta make custom drums like SJC

  • @ramdor4 there is so many custom drum companies out there SJC ...TRUTH...Dark Horse...Battlefield....CRUSH....SHINE

    they create drum dreams :):):):)

  • @RJROCKZout23 Truth i think is the best sounding drums but SJC has the flashiest drums

  • are the Performance Series Kits made like this too?

  • @DailyBeat97 In the sense that they are hand made here in our factory yes! We started making them in our factory in Mexico but we have since been making all Performance Series shells here. ;)

  • I used to own a DW Performance Series kit, for the life of me, I don't remember why I sold it. Plan on buying another one soon, or maybe just shoot for a collectors series. Love what you guys do.

  • @ShittyMcPoopyBalls Thanks! We want you to play DW again! :)

  • @DrumWorkshopInc Would you guys consider using birch re-enforcement rings on maple shells?

  • just watched this for the 3rd time !!! cant wait to one day go to California and see it for real !!!! =]

  • @InsaneDrumer18 Ah the Stainless Steel lacquer specialty. We don't want you going to the devil for anything really...have you looked into the Performance Series? More affordable pricing with the Collector's Series quality.

    ://dwdr(dot)ms/sVSn0t

  • THIS... IS... HEAVEN!

  • @Doodleydrums Thanks for watching!

  • i went here during the guitar center factory day at dw :)

  • @DeBoltDrumming1 Nice! Glad you were able to make it out. :)

  • Thumbs Up If U Dream To Have A DW Kit ? ! ?

  • I used complain a lot about how DW drums cost so much. But after seeing this, all I can say is,

    THANK YOU...

  • @TheXrythmicXtongue YOUR WELCOME! We are very happy to show the process and are happy to hear your appreciation. :)

  • whats that light blue at the end of the video with the white hoops

  • @HOPExxDRUMMER To clear things up the exact finish type is Pale Regal Blue. Thanks for watching!

  • @HOPExxDRUMMER To clear things up for everyone. The Blue kit in the end of this video is described as Pale Regal Blue Lacquer.

  • Simply Awsome!

  • @pudsi Thanks so much!

  • that was enlightening

  • @alottaballsful That's what it's there for. ;) To show the ins and outs of the factory process.

  • that blue coloured drum kit with the black nickel hardware at the end of this video looks awesome. what colour is that?

  • @BenOnFilm Thanks for watching! The kit you asked about is a Royal Blue Lacquer Custom. Does look sweet with the Black Nickel hardware. :)

  • how much does a 7 piece drum set casue?

  • @helpmeimconfused It's always best to check with your local authorized DW dealer for pricing and ordering info. ://dwdr(dot)ms/v7qPFu

Just make sure you have the finish type and sizes you want to order. Thanks!

  • i really like that so much precision is put in to the making of the drums, no wonder dw are the best drums in the world, i'm currently playing on a pdp fs and love it hopefully in the next year or so i'll order myself a performance series.

  • @HEYYitsMEyou Great to hear you have been playing the FS and it had gone well for you!

Thanks for watching. We do have to put in work for every kit so it's nice you noticed. We would love to make you a Performance Series kit when your ready. :)

  • DW is the best drum company in the history and i mean o dude dw snare's are killers anyways i love dw so much :)

  • @crowleddrummer Yeah thank you! We appreciate your comments very much! :)

  • wow!!!

it takes a few days to make the drums??

i like this and i want dw drums too that was performance series

  • @synsevenfoldism Well not really. It's gets pretty extensive with different finish types and the amount of drum orders we have in our system here. :)

  • @DrumWorkshopInc well for the metal hoops it depends on personal preferences. i'm still contemplating to use either wood or metal. also, i bet some people asked about floor tom isolation, which was why i asked about the stm mounts. i made up a idea where you make sftm mounts, and i bet you can understand what that means. the idea was making a circular piece of metal and put it around the bottom lugs of the floor tom. but the problem with that idea is what if somebody wants to remove it.

  • i want i dw kit so badly but i cant afford one......

  • @YaronFisherT Hopefully some day. Have you looked into Performance Series? Same quality as the Collector's Series but a more affordable price.

    ://dwdr(dot)ms/sVSn0t

  • Great drums. Love watching how it all comes together.

  • @JohnXDrumLessons Thanks so much! Great to hear you found this informative. :)

  • my first kit is going to be a DW collectors kit shooting for 2012 I so cant wait DW all day and its my Initials Daniel W

  • @mrwms DW doe Daniel W! You will have your initials all over your drums. :) We can't wait to make you a part of the DW family. Please feel free to contact our Customer Service at 1-800-45-DRUMS ext. 450 with any questions with your Collectors Series kit. :)

  • @SXI1001 We would love you too! Thanks for watching. :)

  • That in Candyland 3 JG came into the show room. And brought a Smoked Peper Beach Wood and said he would add black nickel hardware and clear coat the shell and with black laquer pinstripes. And in this video it showed what JG talked about.

  • @alexcabrera19657 You got it. You're definitely paying attention Alex. :)

  • Wait a minute just wait a minute!!!!!! In CL 3 ( CANYLAND) John came in the showroom and said he would clear laquer the shell 8:45!!!!!!

  • @alexcabrera19657 What do you mean exactly?

  • There are no words to describe the beauty of DW drums!

    Awesome work DW!

  • @ysh3000 Oh thank you so much for watching and your positive feedback! We are happy to show you the process of drum making through this video tour. :)

  • When you make an Exotic kit, in what part of the process you cover the drums with the exotic ply wood? after timbre matching?

  • @asel2000 We Timbre Match the shells after they are rolled then we apply the Exotic wood. The small amount of material that the Exotic wood takes up does not affect the tone of the shell. :)

  • WOW THIS PLACE IS LIKE DISNEYLAND FOR DRUMMERS

  • @Drumminsince89 Come on down sometime! Thanks for watching. :)

  • Man, you guys really want me to stop playing Tama, don't you? haha

I use the 5000 series pedals, though... Shhhh.

  • @DaN1cksta We won't tell anyone. :)

  • DW is just simply an amazing company! Thank you John Good and the DW family for putting in so much passion when developing your drums and hardware.

  • @phlipdog Thanks so much for watching and appreciating the video. Thanks for being a part of the DW family!

  • Awesome, that you guys give us such an 'inside' - view of whats going on in your company.

Still, I thought that more of the steps would be done by machines..

Looks kinda sloppy, how the shell is put together 2:23, or how the reinforcement hoops are attached.

(Please dont get me wrong! I respect all of your work. So much passion and love for detail. truly amazing!)

One question: the shells for the PDP Platinum Series where also produced in this way right?

  • @xXWhatUpDocXx Sorry for anything looking sloppy. :( Definitely not the procedure or the image we want to project.

The Platinum Series shells we manufactured very similar. We had the same type of machines making those shells in our factory in Mexico. :)

  • hey dw,

i was just wondering, what would you do with a drum if you found a scratch or a chip in it, when it got to the whitehouse?

  • @deathspaghetti Hopefully a drum or drums would not make it all the way to the white house with a flaw like that. If it was though we would send the drum back to get fixed or in most cases we would make a new drum fresh. :)

  • It's great to see my drums were picked and handled with so much care! It's no wonder why my Eco-X is such an amazing kit! I just picked up the 14 In x 16 In, and the 7 In x 8 In additions! They are amazing! Though I do wonder why they came with the True Hoop, instead of the Standard Triple Flange Hoops that came with the original kit. Not that I'm complaining! I like the True Hoops better anyway! Great channel! Thanks for making such great drums!!!

  • @mrlurp Nice! You got all the Eco-X sizes pretty much. Sorry for any confusion with the counter hoops. We have since changed from our triple flange hoops to our True Hoops. Hope they work for you. :)

Thanks for watching, playing DW and your positive feedback! We appreciate it more than we could ever express.

  • i like how they are all latinos xP

  • What a great video! Very interesting. Hopefully someday, I will be able to afford a set of these!

When that guy kept putting his fingers in the shell press, all I could think about was it closing 2,600 pounds of pressure on his fingers! What a dangerous machine. Hopefully there are some good safety measures in place to ensure that never happens.

  • @caldrumr We hope so too! Always feel free to contact us with any questions you have about DW.

Sorry to scare you in anyway. We have a very good safety procedures in tact and we promise our guys know what they are doing. :)

  • what the hell a minor 3rd scary

  • @JoshTinkler Don't let it scare you. :)

  • This company is amazing!

  • @metalgrunger06 Thanks! We are nothing without our family of customers! :)

  • @drummers47 We will pass your message along to JG. Thanks so much for watching and your educated, positive words...and thanks for being a part of the DW family!
