They are a great looking keyboard; who can forget the endless procession of boiler-suited Gary Numan's floating across a Polymoog in his seminal pop video of the song "Cars?"
HOLLY MOOG? I heard "We three Kings" and "Angels from the Realms of Glory". I didn't know the other pieces, say what they are. You play beautifully. It has a Victorian feel. 'The Last Rose of Summer' and 'Home sweet home' would be lovely with that sound.
If the seller knew about loose connectors and reseated them prior to operation, the likelihood that it should work well is increased. The 3600 serial is a plus since Moog reengineered the unit. All machines are on a case by case basis. However, be prepared to have a pro go over the machine to alert you to problem areas. I'm not sure where qualified techs are but RL Music in the UK has a good rep.
Im looking at one now, and ive wanted one since i first heard it on Wakemans albums, the only downside is that i doenst know anyone who can fix it here in Norway. Its a shame, because its one of the best sounding synths/keyboard EVER!
The best part is the 3 band parametric "Resonator" and the keyboard balance controls. That way you can make sure what you play has the right levels. Yes it was a wonderful sounding machine. They should make more electronic machines which evoke the same creative response that many acoustic intstruments do.
This sounds great,I want a polymoog but don't want the repair bills to go along with my other analogs.
I like this guys playing it sounds really haunting at times and I love that-Sometimes I hear chords in this guys playing that reminds me of Boards of Canada and how cool are they.
I love the music around 150 155ish really haunting and beautiful.Well done man.Great vid.
Kenny, me lad. Everything you play has a sort of er, um...well MEDIEVAL quality to it! :) You almost make this fantastic synth sound like a harpsichord, or is that the VOICE you were using?
People who have functional Polymoogs are far and few between, IMO. The feature set is small by today's standards thus having spent the dough to refurbish one is likely to make it coveted for studio use or bragging rights. I bought mine when analog was going for a song. I had two in fair condition. Both of them finally bit the dust. Faking it nowadays takes a basic virtual or soft synth saw-pulse patch w/ little filtering through a parametric EQ and Voyager/Phatty. Rig midi for single trigger.
hi, i got a 203a, which i got cheap at £150. As you can imagine its been a real dog and has died on me on numerous occasions. i aint gonna fix it no more as no matter what you do it still breaks. if i could afford it, id get the entire lot inside made onto 1 IC, no doubt that it could be done today lol
i really could do with one of these

Thesis Audio in Kansas fixes these synths. I just had two sets of Moog Taurus 1 pedals rebuilt and he was more than reasonable.

ahhhhhh...the polyphonic synth Tony Banks used all over the 'And Then There Were Three' album. Polymoog everywhere coupled with the Yamaha CP-70.

They DO sound great - truly rich oscillators and modulations. Great if you can PLAY. Not great if you are a one-finger synthesist.
