Hey, before you completely dismiss this, I recall seeing a documentary on an actual scientist who is searching for our sun's binary partner; a brown dwarf which he calls "nemesis". Apparently, the more we learn about other star systems, the more we learn that binary systems are the norm, not the exception.

That said, I still think the whole "nibiru" thing is a bunch of nonsense, and that after 2012, they'll find another doomsday item with which to be concerned.
